Confirmed by police about half an hour ago that the 35 year old arrested has been released without charge.

Absolutely now we have more bollards due to those attacks. I’m not sure why the pp is overlooking those.

Same as Liverpool will be putting in bollards after a white man rammed into revellers with his car.

Yes sometimes it isn't. Sometimes mass atrocities are due to other reasons but more often than not it is jihadis. What is racist about that?

It's good to see you have changed your mind.

Islam isn’t a race.

And yet racist attacks against Muslims persist.

We acted before that, after 86 people died in France and the German terrorist attacks.

Do you think that was the right thing to do. Was it a good idea to assume the same could happen here?

Who acted before what? The plans for bollards is a new one following the car ramming at the victory celebrations.

Racist attacks against people of all religions persist; race and religion are two separate things.

She was repeatedly goaded and told by that poster to be quiet and hush.

I'm not surprised you find that acceptable though, you only find people you disagree with as rude.

Double standards, no?

Racist attacks against people who identify as Muslim is a recognised hate crime.

Maybe in Liverpool. But bollards were installed in Glasgow almost 20 years ago because 2 Islamists rammed a car into Glasgow Airport.

A new one? I’m wondering where you live to be be unaware. But here you go.

Bollards and other hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) measures were widely installed across London and other UK cities in 2017, primarily in response to a series of terror attacks that occurred in quick succession that year, specifically the Westminster Bridge attack in March and the London Bridge attack in June.

While general concerns about vehicle-ramming attacks increased after incidents in Nice, France, and Berlin, Germany, in the latter half of 2016, the major installation programs in the UK followed the domestic attacks in 2017.

Key events leading to these installations:

  • December 2016: The Berlin Christmas market attack using a truck led to increased calls and plans for security measures over the holiday season in various cities.
  • March 2017: In the Westminster attack, a terrorist drove a vehicle into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge. Temporary barriers were installed at sites like Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle immediately following this.
  • June 2017: In the London Bridge attack, a van was driven into pedestrians on the bridge before the attackers went on a stabbing spree. This attack, which happened in an area where officials had previously ruled out immediate bollard installation, triggered the widespread deployment of temporary barriers across all eight central London bridges almost immediately.

@Nomasdo you think it was good that they learned from terrorist attacks and did this?

Yes. Because they may fall into two distinct protected groups. They may only fall into one.

Do you not know any white Muslims?

So people keep saying it’s fine to assume that it would be Islamic etc due to it mainly being them when it’s a large mass attack so next time this happens is it okay for us to now assume it is prevent nothing to with a Muslim or Islam at all does it work that way around because we keep spouting it’s ok to assume because it most often them

but
actually

  • hurlington- black British
  • car running people over at parade - white British
  • southport - could be argued either way that there was a Islamic radicalisation.
  • Hainault attack - Spanish Brazilian duel national

why are we auto assuming anything to do with a mass killing is a specific set of people ?

Yes, I do, the existence of white Muslims doesn't mean other Muslims aren't the victims of racist crimes.

Apologies
So the racists and islamphobes were wrong this time but won't be next time?
Is that better?

And not only auto assuming, actually having the gall and arrogance to demand Muslims specifically speak out about the attack.

That’s not an answer. The pp was incorrect about mass attacks in earlier post, which led to actions taken posts re bollards.

Can you say whether learning from IS terrorist attacks was a good thing to do?

Of course they need to monitor terror, way to state the bleeding obvious.

@Hoppinggreendo you think it’s a good idea that MI5 are aware of hostile states and potential terror threats?

Or do you think that’s problematic as it assumes too much

I do
I am not talking about MI5, I am talking about racists and islamaphobes who are now saying well ok, THIS attack wasn't an Islamist Terror attack but I can continue to be racist and islamaphobic because the next one might be
