What will Starmer do if Huntingdon...

Stabbing turns out to be terror related or in a similar vein to incident to recent incidents that were related to immigration ? We don't know the identities yet of the perpetrators. But the fact the Home Secretary is brought in to comment in tabloids and the discussion on LK on BBC today makes me worried its a possibility. The poor people on the train - I cannot even imagine .. ..Starmer needs to tackle knife crime as its rife. What is the answer ? When is there a tipping point ? I don't know but something must be done - I've never paid as much attention other than feeling so terribly sorry for any victims and families. Now I'm starting to get angry when I see anything like this

TWO people working in tandem, stabbing random people in a busy train carriage? And it isn’t a terrorist incident?
What bullshit.

My personal experience is that some Muslims do not like us and do not want to intergrate. My son made friends with Muslim boy in S1. He wanted go out to an activity. His father would not allow it, he had to be at mosque. The boy had never seen a movie...not allowed. This is how home born Muslims are being radicalised.

Edited

My personal experience is that some people are horribly prejudiced against Muslims.

This is a male violence issue but I given the aim was clearly to break terror and indiscriminate violence, of course it's terrorism. Even if the suspects are white British which we already know they're not.

He must be shitting himself because if/when the news comes out that it was immigrants/Islamists, all hell is going to break loose.

elprup · 02/11/2025 10:51

It sounds like it wasn’t terror-related. So what on earth could the motive be to randomly attack strangers on a train?

Drugs, gangs, mental health?

winterbluess · 02/11/2025 10:53

Well we had all this play down with the southport attacker too didn't we 🤔

The key part of terrorism is going it for political gain.

Stop and search raises racist questions because they dont stop enough white people to search. Apparently too many young black men were stopped and searched.

But this should be down to crime statistics and so race as well as sex should be relevant. If 80% of knife crime in an area is by white males then they should be stop and searching mostly white males, if 80% of knife crime in an area is by black males then they should be stop and searching mostly black males. If knife crime is 50/50 then so should the stop and searching both races roughly equally.

It's not racist to stop a majority of one race in an area if they are the most likely to be committing crime any more than it's sexist to be targeting one sex.

I don't know the stats so it's perfectly possible the police were targeting more black men for no good reason except that they were racist - but it should be based on statistics and that should be stuck to even if it offends some people.

Caribbeans are converting to Islam, with the growth of the community attributed to factors like disconnection from Christianity, outreach by Islamic organizations, and the search for cultural and spiritual identity. This phenomenon with historical, cultural, and sociopolitical roots. This trend is particularly notable in the UK and in certain Caribbean nations, with several key motivating factors:

NooNakedJacuzziness · 02/11/2025 10:54

Starmer won't (and cant) do anything - like Stockport this will sadly become old news soon and he can just wring his hands for a little while then move on

jasflowers · 02/11/2025 10:52

We don't want higher taxes, see what has happened to Labour when there is the merest suggestion of this.

We want world class services but lower & lower taxes.

This is what I find surprising with Reform voters. Yes, Reform will fix everything while lowering taxes. But no one explains how its going to be paid for (unless they are planning to sell the NHS but even then I suspect they are mainly after lining their own pockets).

You might like to start your own thread about this. The suspects are British born men with Caribbean heritage. Not muslims.

What was their shared motivation?

Don’t get worried about crime @winterbluesspp think the most important thing is no one is concerned.

3peepsand4paws · 02/11/2025 10:51

Strange you read 'that's ok then' into this, quite disturbing actually.

However, it's silly to be banging on about muslims... this incident is not terror related and has nothing to do with muslims.

Do we know the religion of the men? We haven’t been told their intention yet?

WeCouldBeNiceToEachOther · 02/11/2025 10:55

winterbluess · 02/11/2025 10:53

No. After Southport they tried to paint the attacker as a nice little Christian choir boy. All the police have said is they’re British born because they know otherwise everyone will start rioting in the streets again.

Shudacudawuda · 02/11/2025 10:55

Just seen the press conference ruling out terrorism.
The problem is, I don't trust the authorities anymore. I have seen them lie over and over again, from relatively 'minor' things like saying a man who says he is woman is a woman, to saying the Southport killer was a choirboy from Wales.

We know they lie, how can we trust them?

blacksax · 02/11/2025 10:55

Oh look. They turn out not to be illegal immigrants after all. So who on this thread is going to have to start eating their words now then?

The nationality of Lee Rigby's attackers was black British.

I haven't seen any information about the attackers religion. Have you?

borisjohnsonsforgottencondom · 02/11/2025 10:55

I don’t think this update helps diffuse anything. People will now just say that this proves immigration/multiculturalism has failed and that this is the proof. Just because they were born here does not mean everyone will view them as British - regardless of their passport.

Or some Muslims are horribly preduced against British Western Culture

localnotail · 02/11/2025 10:55

Can't we just wait and see what the police says about the motivation and who these nutters are? They are not young so wtf is going on here.

elprup · 02/11/2025 10:55

WeCouldBeNiceToEachOther · 02/11/2025 10:53

Drugs, gangs, mental health?

Don’t gangs generally target other people in gangs (with innocent people sometimes getting caught in the crossfire)? I’ve never heard of an incident where random strangers have been targeted like this by a gang.

pointythings · 02/11/2025 10:56

So the attackers were British. Not small boat asylum seekers. I hope a lot of people on Mumsnet are feeling shamefaced and sheepish right now.

Stop speculating about what faith the attackers may or may not have been. Stop fuelling the fires of division. Just stop and try to be decent human beings, if you can.
