I go to yoga classes. My DS does kickboxing for cardio and he wants to loose weight. My DD just uses her uni gym. What do you do?

Pilates and football. I love yoga too but not sure I can justify the expense. I should do Yoga with Adrienne at home but not feeling very motivated.

howrudeforme · 30/10/2025 10:53

Racquet sports. Mix up of pickle ball, Padel and tennis when I can.

suits me as it keeps me a bit fit and as it’s competitive so you have to keep score. So time flies by. No space to think about your stresses. Good for my mental health.

id like to walk more but with all good intensions I never make it out the door as I’m consumed with domestic and work things I need to tackle. I’ve literally walked up the road and turned back as I have other things to get through.

ShenandoahRiver · 30/10/2025 10:55

Spinning, pilates, a strength class for women only and swimming.
Walk lots too.

Pilates with weights, resistance bands, ball etc. and walking. I do yoga stretch too when I feel bit stiff.

CaroleKing · 30/10/2025 10:58

Walk, run , yoga and strength training. But I am semiretired and have osteoporosis so consciously prioritising fitness.

Mind you I really wish I'd taken up strength training as a younger woman, might have saved me the annoyance of several fractures post menopause

thisishowloween · 30/10/2025 10:59

I walk dogs for a living.

squashyhat · 30/10/2025 10:59

A yoga class, a pilates class, a walk most days and gardening.

MiddleAgedDread · 30/10/2025 10:59

run about 25 miles a week, lift some weights and pilates

Strokethefurrywall · 30/10/2025 11:00

Weightlifting 4 x a week
Boxing training 1 x a week
Sprint training 2 x a week
Sometimes yoga after a full body strength day.

QuitMoaning · 30/10/2025 11:00

Boot camp three times a week and lots of walking, lots and lots of walking.
Post Menopause and am now the fittest I have ever been.

Needlesnah · 30/10/2025 11:02

Run. You can’t beat it to lose wait. I’ve done it for decades so I know what to do if something starts to flare up, it’s important to start slowly and wear decent shoes. And they should be bigger than your normal size (I wear a size 7, but my normal size is a UK 5.5). Ideally he should do something else to compliment the running. I use a rowing machine and do hand weights, it makes me a better runner.

Eudaimonia11 · 30/10/2025 11:04

I walk 10000 steps everyday (I know 10000 is a bullshit made up thing but I find it helpful having a set number to aim for)
I go to a 75 minute yoga class twice a week
I try to do one Pilates class per week
I’m trying to get into weight lifting at the gym

Ihateboris · 30/10/2025 11:06

Running everyday 6 to 8 miles
Pilates/ballet barre/Tracy Anderson method on rotation
Walk dogs 3 times a day

I'm almost 55 and this has been my routine for over 20 years

Completely agree about running 🏃‍♂️

AnchorWHAT · 30/10/2025 11:19

I joined our local council leisure centre so-can go to as many classes as i like for the modest monthly fee, at the moment i do 2 x body combat and 2 x body pump every week, occasionally an extra class on a Saturday morning if i feel motivated enough.

Echobelly · 30/10/2025 11:20

Gym for an hour 3 times a week if I can, using a variety of equipment. I don't work out super hardcore, I just want to maintain health and mobility as I get older. I also do 20 mins of yoga with an app or 20 mins of high intensity interval training most mornings

hattie43 · 30/10/2025 11:25

Walk my dogs . I do need to do something else though , maybe start swimming now the weathers turned .

SconehengeRevenge · 30/10/2025 11:29

Similar to @AnchorWHAT 2 x combat, 2 x pump, a couple of aqua aerobics and a boxercise all at my local leisure centres.

blizymitzy · 30/10/2025 11:32

Walking daily,
reformer Pilates x1
yoga x3,
strength training on power plate x2

TheOliveFinch · 30/10/2025 11:32

Pilates x3, yoga, combat x2, Zumba, daily dog walking and some strength training but I’m retired so plenty of time

Waitingfordoggo · 30/10/2025 11:34

I do 5 x Bodypump, 6 x Bodybalance and 2 heavier weights classes (Strength Development), plus plenty of walking. I teach the classes which is why I do so many; I would do fewer if I wasn’t getting paid for them 😂 I would really like to go to some of my colleagues’ classes- especially Combat and Spin as I need more Cardio- but I’m conscious of trying not to knacker or injure my nearly 50 year-old body!

EmpressaurusKitty · 30/10/2025 11:35

Yoga & Zumba classes, & 3 weights & cardio sessions at the gym.

DarkEyedSailor · 30/10/2025 11:36

I absolutely hate sports, all sports, so I don't do any and I haven't been to a gym since 1999.

I walk a lot though. I walk to work, I'm on my feet at work, and there's a lot of heavy lifting.
Don't drive so I walk everywhere. I usually do about ten miles a day.

OrderFor · 30/10/2025 11:38

What can be done to not have mobility issues later on? I'm 55

Zebracat · 30/10/2025 11:43

I swim 3-5 times a week, currently 48 lengths. Walk the dog at least once a day. Tai chi once a week. I know I need to do weights too, keep procrastinating.
