I go to yoga classes. My DS does kickboxing for cardio and he wants to loose weight. My DD just uses her uni gym. What do you do?

Three spin classes and an hour with a PT doing weights.

BreakfastClubBlues · 30/10/2025 19:42

In a week I do:

Body pump x1
Yoga x1
Gym sessions with a mixture of cardio and weights for an hour x2 or 3
Walk the dog for an hour x5 (dog walker does the other 2!)

I've only had this routine since April, but I cannot imagine not exercising now, so hopefully I can keep it up!

dreamum · 30/10/2025 19:43

I try to take time to do yoga but with work and 2 DC I rarely have the time, so my exercise is usually running after 2 toddlers.

Two clubbercise classes and one pitates class. I walk everywhere locally including food shopping. Also, walk up local hill once a week - pretty steep as highest point in county. I cycle, but am a fair weather cyclist so will soon stop for winter months. Also, do some push ups, tummy toning, squats, balancing as and when. Nearly 60, so should do more pirates and toning, but I enjoy the clubbercise.

Lesina · 30/10/2025 19:47

Weights x 3 per week
2 x swimming a week - working on this to build it up to 50 lengths, it’s slow progress
1 x personal training session
1-2 bootcamps depending on how tired I am.
I also walk for about an hour a day

It’s like a full time job 😂

ConnieHeart · 30/10/2025 19:51

I'm a member of David Lloyd so do lots of their classes like bodypump, total body workout, circuits etc. I also run once a week, swim occasionally & walk on rest days.

CalmConfident · 30/10/2025 19:53

Caroline Girvan at home strength training - currently 5 sessions a week. Fab results.
parkrun 5k every Saturday. Love it. 🥰
Plus another run in the week and add walks to get my 10k steps a day if possible (don’t manage it every day but try to average over the week)

Gymbunny2025 · 30/10/2025 20:04

Run 3x a week. Spin. Pilates. Aerobics. (Light) weights.

kick boxing is great cardio, but he should add in some weights and endurance too imho

UtterlyOtterly · 30/10/2025 20:22

Walk 5 miles or cycle 10 miles every day.

Green Gym, basically gardening voluntary work, plus my own garden.

I try to do 4 or 5 minutes of exercise several times a day. There are so many YouTube videos with exercises you can do at home with no special equipment.

Approaching my mid 60s so it is important to keep healthy, fit and supple.

Don't forget to stand one one leg - it is great for balance.

ThatsNotAKnife · 30/10/2025 20:27

2 x 5k runs
1 x bootcamp class
1 x gym session (bit of doing whatever I fancy, TRX, medicine balls, rowing etc)
Walk at least 10k steps a day.

Not done yoga for years but I must get back into it.

Bookaholic73 · 30/10/2025 20:29

I lift heavy weights 4x a week, sometimes 5x a week.

I am starting to add a day or 2 a week of cardio too.

Thanks. I'll advise him to do that. He wants to lose weight and get fit.

Reformer Pilates and bodypump minimum 3 times a week. This week I’m aiming for 6 times as I’m off work with time to spare

HurdyGurdy19 · 30/10/2025 20:57

I am very overweight, so any exercise has to be done at home, at least until I feel comfortable going to any kind of class, where there are people around.

So, my limited exercise regime now is,

20-30 minutes a day with a weighted hula hoop (have removed two links so far)

A pedal machine under my desk, so I "cycle" on and off throughout the day

A vibration board - not convinced its doing anything, but I do 3 x 10 minutes each day

Japanese Walking on my walking pad. Fancy name for what we as kids used to call "walk a (telegraph) pole, run a (telegraph) pole" 😂. That's 30 minutes a day.

I do need to do some upper body stuff, but not sure what yet.

jaelato1 · 30/10/2025 20:59

Strength training and walking

Meadowfinch · 30/10/2025 21:06

I'm in my 60s. I run 5k on Saturday (good for aerobics), and an hour's martial arts on Sunday (great for flexibility& balance).

During the summer I run 5k mid-week but with dark mornings and evenings it isn't safe so I've acquired an exercise bike. I'll do an hour or two mid-week.

SisterTeatime · 30/10/2025 21:16

I usually do Reformer Pilates, Barre, a 4-5k run with DH, CrossFit and a swim, <1 mile. Walk about 30 mins every day and sometimes a lot more. Im trying to do CrossFit 2 x a week but it’s a little bit daunting. A friend is qualifying as a yoga instructor and I’m going to try and have weekly lessons with her as she is starting out. I used to do yoga but Pilates is way better for my joints, but I want to get back into it for the grounding/spiritual element.

Im the least sporty person in the universe and if you’d told my younger self I’d be doing all this at 50 I’d have been very surprised!

cardibach · 30/10/2025 21:23

Walk dogs for a dog shelter. Go to the gym for strength (weights) and conditioning (weights plus cardio) 4 times a week.

Size40Shoes · 30/10/2025 21:25

Gym x 3 or 4 per week.

Dog walking x 7 days per week.

AllTheChatsAboutTea · 30/10/2025 21:29

Running x 2 days
Weight training x 2 days
Pilates x 1 day

Looking forward to hot pod yoga opening in my office building soon so I can do that in my lunch break

UnimaginableWindBird · 30/10/2025 21:36

Weights at the gym 3 times a week, interval training once a week, lots of walking (I have a fast walking playlist to encourage a vigorous pace) and fairly slow swimming in a lake a couple of times a week. And I try to fit in a Tom Morrison flexibility routine when I can, but that's the thing I'm least diligent about.

cupfinalchaos · 30/10/2025 21:46

We have a gym so weights and aerobics 4 x a week. Hate every minute.

mamaduckbone · 30/10/2025 21:56

Pilates and a Saturday morning run (very gentle, 5k ish) and a fair bit of walking.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 30/10/2025 22:03

Been doing weights for years at home and before that with a PT so I know form etc.

So generally 3 times weights workouts at home as soon as I wake up in the morning - sometimes Caroline G, or Bodyfit by Amy. Plus power walk on the other two week days and dog walks on both weekend days incl Yoga. Also I walk at lunchtime or swim.

I also do three ten min abs sessions each week.

I had a lot of surgery last year plus I'm perinmeno and always absolutely bloody shattered so this is the best I can do.

Timespentwithcatsisneverwasted · 30/10/2025 22:06

Dance classes 4 or 5 times a week..ballet, barre, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, heels, commercial
