This has been happening for weeks and I’m baffled. No bleach has been used. No bleach in or around the machine and it’s only certain hoody’s not all. I’ve had to bin so many it’s a joke. I’ve just pulled this out of the washing machine and it’s got bleach stains, nothing else in the load has stains just this? What am I missing? Anyone had this I feel like I’m going mad! I’ve added some photos to show you what I mean.

Is he leaning against somewhere that has loose plaster and picking up plaster dust? Some plaster can bleach things (think it's the lime)

So just to answer some of the suggestions.
they aren’t worn to work.
no babies
not toothpaste or lotions

the stains are mostly on the back of the hoody’s and they’re is a lot hence why I’m having to bin them.

After just talking about it with dh we’ve made a sort of a connection. The hoody’s that are getting the stains are all from tesco, and he just reminded me that it happened in the summer too with a couple of short sets that he got from tesco. It must be that that’s the only reasonable explanation

@overstimulatedhermit this has happened to loads of my toddlers clothes, couldn't put my finger on it. Guess what, theyre from Tesco!

Is he being continually shat on by vindictive crows?

Oh that's so funny! 🤣

PyongyangKipperbang · 30/10/2025 01:56

Is it just the hoodies or is it anything else aswell?

Because I have a hunch

I had absolutely no idea what you meant but maybe I’ve never been to the region with this unusual dialect!

Always one has to be spelling police. It was pretty feckin obvious what she meant. Can’t stand nit pickers go and find someone else to annoy it’s boring.

One is grammatically correct though and the other isn't. I'm not sure do know what you mean TBH.

On topic, is it only DH's hoodies that are from Tesco? If not wouldn't some of the others also be bleaching?

"I'm not sure do know what you mean TBH."

Is that grammatically cottect?

He’s maybe not being shat upon by the vindictive crows - but we all sure know where they hang out!

Fixed for ya😂

surely not crows, more like harpies 😉

ticklyfeet · 30/10/2025 03:28

This is what I was thinking. During covid I was using Milton mixed with Aloe Vera to make a hand sanitiser and was finding bleach splashes on my clothes and on car seat.

overstimulatedhermit · 29/10/2025 23:56

Nah not harder at all

Was it deliberate then?! I just assumed it was a typo!

ImDuranDuran · 30/10/2025 04:21

This is so weird, it happened to my daughter’s brand new hoody about a month ago and was only item in the wash affected. It’s from Hollister; I’m not sure if they use the same fabric suppliers as Tesco or not since that’s one theory on the thread 😄 My guess was she leaned against something.

Duechristmas · 30/10/2025 04:56

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/10/2025 00:52

There isn't one, that's why.

There is, it's used on the South Coast, not widely, but it is used.

Highlighta · 30/10/2025 05:04

Throwing them away seems like such a waste.

Could you not attempt to redye it. What is the fabric content?

I think he is leaning against something which is causing this. Does he only ever wear them in the house and never to work?

Terrytheweasel · 30/10/2025 05:11

I would take them back to Tesco as other people might have complained about the issue. Don’t worry that it’s been worn and washed - they’re faulty.
Theres someone else on this thread who has had the same problem with Tesco clothes, so it’s looking more likely.

3luckystars · 30/10/2025 05:11

Is it hair gel/mousse or any hair products? I ruined loads of jackets before I realised that this reacts with the laundry detergent.

Glittertwins · 30/10/2025 05:15

Same has happened to one of DD’s. Everyone else’s clothes are fine and hers is not from Tesco.

Ontheedgeofit · 30/10/2025 05:47

Droplets from the toilet cleaner after a flush ...

Did you read it and understand what I meant? Yes? Then job done 👍🏼

I had no idea what you meant. The only reason I read the post was to see what it was actually about.

You must have a lot of hoodies in your house.

Desmodici · 30/10/2025 05:56

This used to happen in my ex's washing machine. No kids, no bleach products, neither of us swim. The only difference between his house and mine was the machine and the washing detergent. (He used a liquid - can't remember the brand, and I use liquid tabs.) It was a mystery!

Blarghism · 30/10/2025 06:10

My first thought was washing powder.

thecalmsea · 30/10/2025 06:14

Before you chuck them try dyeing them. My sons use the peroxide spot cream and get little bleach marks all over clothes and bedding. If they are small enough spots, using Dylon machine dye often covers them up. Maybe not completely but good enough to make them wearable again for day to day. I'd use the dark grey Dylon on that one in the photo and see if it perks it up.

WomanOfSteel · 30/10/2025 06:19

SoUncertain · 30/10/2025 00:40

I sprayed some demould stuff on a ceiling and some droplets landed on my clothes and ruined them. Could it be some sort of cleaning compound?

This.⬆️ I kept finding bleached marks on my brand new towels and dh’s clothes and couldn’t figure out why. He hadn’t realised it had bleach in it. 🙄

Tiebiter · 30/10/2025 06:22

I would get a bleach spray and spray more bleach onto them. Then tell everyone it's a designer hoody.
