Brands you (unreasonably) dislike?

I was thinking about this tonight as I parked next to a Renault SUV. It’s completely unreasonable but I’ve never liked the brand since someone I know once said ‘it’s like driving a bin on wheels’. Even though I’m sure the brand is perfectly fine (and very popular) it’s stuck in my head. Apologies to all Renault drivers!

I’ve got other brands I unreasonably dislike too but do you have any?

Exactly this. I usually know exactly why I dislike things - and god knows I'm more than happy to tell people - but I absolutely cannot explain why I hate Morrison's.

The stores are grubby, the staff walk around in a daze most of the time and are not helpful or friendly, and it’s just not a pleasant shopping experience.
The food is ok and I do like their meat and fish range, but the stores themselves and staff let it down.

Love Radley. I now have a watch from them. I think the dog is cute.

DH loves Apple. I have a mini iPad so I can control the home automation, but that's all. I'm Samsung all the way otherwise.

Lucy and Yak is for organic yogurt knitters; you know the type.

They look like something my daughter would have played with from Fisher Price 😂 especially when they’re parked together, like they should be on a playmat

I once had one as a hire car. I felt like it was a washing machine with a steering wheel. Worst thing I have ever driven

Same. Most of the tesla interiors look like they've been designed by a 3 year old. Just a steering wheel and an iPad glued to a plain moulded dashboard .

hah! I said similarly to DH when we had the run of one of the 'fancier' models (please don't ask which, but it was an expensive one and it was several years ago so everyone was excited that we got to have it for the weekend via some work related thing). It was plain from the outside but for the price of it, my god they could have spent some money on the interior. Seats, or the massive screen in the middle. The sun visor mirror was weirdly terrible as well, and I commented to him that clearly the engineers didn't anticipate anyone sitting in the passenger seat needing to check makeup 😂

All of those observations are just because, once you're in that price range, honestly it should feel like a bit of luxury inside. It definitely should not make you think you actually got a good deal on your Leaf.

CatFinderGeneral · 30/10/2025 16:43

Fact is Apple sound is the best 🤷‍♀️ At least last time I compared with other top of the range phones. Radley stuff is well made and great value sometimes.

Invinoveritaz · 30/10/2025 16:45

Lush - the stuff smells awful. A lot of it rates low on the Yuka app and they support breast binding. Smelling their shops from a distance makes me feel ill.

SpringingOn · 30/10/2025 16:45

Ryanair- but I don't think it is unreasonable dislike!

Greenbeanmcgee · 30/10/2025 16:47

I forgot Henry Hoover. Everyone raves about them but it was the worst hoover that I’ve ever had. The suction wasn’t anything special, it kept toppling over and the hose kept coming off, and was a pain to get back on. I ended up returning it.

Omgblueskys · 30/10/2025 16:48

Marks & Spencer ( peruna) what with the flowers on everything fgs, a manager dressed head to toe in peruna and honestly staff meeting were painful just watching her prance about in her flowers 🤦‍♀️

Threadreplier · 30/10/2025 16:49

Kate spade! I mean how can something with "spade" in it try to be luxury. Everyone i know with a Kate spade bag is a "fake it till you make it" type...

A model rather than a brand - but I have a very specific problem with the Nissan Qashqai, after a random Google search elicited the an AI response to the question "Is the Nissan Qashquai the worst car in the world?"

I had no intention of buying a Nissan Qashqui, but now I consider them to be the worst car in the world.

This has just made my entire year!!! My mother bought one after my step sister spouted on endlessly about their virtues, having bought one previously following a significant amount of research. Both have since made numerous returns back to the garage for a variety of glitches. I’m feeling vindicated 🤣

Yerroblemom1923 · 30/10/2025 16:49

BMW- either they're twits that drive them or driving them turns you into a bell end. Not sure how it works. Chicken and the egg question.

SouthwarkLass · 30/10/2025 16:50

So many!
Tesla
Apple
Range Rover (unless you actually live on a hill farm)
Superdry
Gails
Sweaty Betty
David Lloyd gyms

Favouritefruits · 30/10/2025 16:50

The RAC, a few years (decades) ago there was a drama about the RAC and the AA and the RAC were the baddies and it put me right off the brand 😂

Mokel · 30/10/2025 16:53

Heinz
Inferior products, crazy prices. I find supermarket own products taste nicer and about a third cheaper.

People who say they have to have Heinz have no tastebuds

I agree, you and I both believe in treating people reasonably.

I don't think my dislike of Sports Direct is unreasonable too, given the sweatshop warehouse and Mike Ashley.

Confession. I have a Tesla. It is the single best thing I own and it’s a dream to drive. The seats are extremely comfortable, the big iPad thingy is intuitive, it’s incredibly responsive, and it’s saving me an absolute fortune in petrol, BUT, I loathe Musk (I imagine many of the target market - leftish leaning, middle to high earning, care about the planet types feel the same way) and think he’s trashing the company and alienating his potential buyers. While I’m not getting rid of mine yet I’ll be looking seriously at other options when the time comes. The Ratner Effect is real.

Same. I have a Tesla. It’s a great car. Just because EM is a bit of a knob doesn’t mean the car is crap. The only issue I have with it is that it doesn’t support Apple CarPlay.

We will probably get a different EV when it comes time just for a change as we like to mix it up.

No way! Jo Malone has such an inspiring origin story from a British female entrepreneur. The scents are also really gorgeous. Give them another go!

But she sold out so no need to buy the stuff to support a female entrepreneur. Ditto Laura Ashley, and Body Shop, though both of those women are late. RIP

Edited

Still, they have lovely eyes.

TabbieMctatty · 30/10/2025 16:54

Vans (the trainer brand). I don't know why.

And Michael Kors. Yuk.

zazazaaar · 30/10/2025 16:55

Boden. So unfashionable and middle class mumsy look it makes me feel slightly uneasy.

Yes, I hate Waitrose. I love John Lewis but Waitrose could go into administration and disappear into the ether for all I care.

Everything I have tried is just average or unpleasant. Did a big Waitrose shop over Christmas and the food was not great, especially for price. It was that bad, that a year later I am still disappointed! We even had random pieces of plastic in one item.

plus I’m the type of person to buy into the marketing and limited edition products etc, I just feel like M&S does it better and the quality and variety is generally okay for the price.

Now you see I'm the opposite. I really don't like M&S food. I can't say I've ever discovered plastic but I only buy the one really posh hummus, a vegan quiche, a brand of snack bars I can't find anywhere else and when on offer their caramelised onion rolls (like sausage rolls but different filling). No way could I afford a big shop.
Besides my local one is pretty small. We have an Asda (okay) and Waitose (crap) but I wish we had a Tesco or Sainsbury's instead.

pinkksugarmouse · 30/10/2025 16:56

Sorry that should read we have a Morrisons which is crap.
