Just thought I'd scratch off a £2 card to get a pound for the trolley (no cash back anymore ???), and I've won £5. The doors have opened up for me now. Brainstorming what to spend it on!😆

Oh ffs I was ready to cry happy tears.... please tell me you had like 1p in your bank and that £5 fed you and the family for a week!!!

Autumnrain78 · 30/10/2025 18:03

Spend it all!!, you can't take it with you haha love it 😂

You can afford to spend £2 on a scratch card????? Do you realise how insensitive that is to all of those who cant afford food. You are now obliged to spend your winnings on donations for the food bank.

Surely OP is entitled to spend her hard earned money on what she wants. I do give to food banks BTW.

IT’S NOT FUNNY THOUGH.

Is what someone with no sense of humour would say.

AquaForce · 30/10/2025 18:26

I'd buy a tin of salmon with a good sell by date. The rate prices are going up, it'll easily rival the value of a civil service pension pot in the future 😁

Or someone with a sense of humour for things that are actually funny, and not cliched and tedious like this.

Sheis · 30/10/2025 18:31

Put the heating on for 10 mins.

BestBeforeddmmyy · 30/10/2025 18:39

I would buy chocolate.

Scorchio84 · 30/10/2025 18:42

How I miss the laughing emoji!

Comhghairdeas on your win dream big!! I've never won anything on a scratch card, I used to get those big ones for my Birthday BUTmy friend won €10,000 last month on some raffle thing on FB.. of course I was incredible sceptical & thought I'll believe that when I see it but low & behold the money was in his account & he went off to Ibiza for the closing parties, his dad took 4,000 of hit because he's useless with money & needs a few things done in his house 😆

Someone posted a link yesterday for a beautifully decorated house in Manchester …

Hillarious I saw that beautiful house 🏠 on mumsnet not in reality!

Nanatobethatsme46 · 30/10/2025 18:48

Id be happy to swap £2 for £5 somethings better than nothing after all....

80smonster · 30/10/2025 18:51

I hate these threads because each time I get so excited, thinking someone has had life changing news. Don’t let the money change you OP.

Shotokan101 · 30/10/2025 18:57

I couldn’t afford an ancestry DNA kit so I announced that I had won the lottery and I quickly found out who my relatives were.....

In all seriousness I've heard that it's the people who can least afford these things that buy them the most.

Maybe hide the thread, if it's upsetting you

Yawn

How much do yawns cost?

Bluecrystal2 · 30/10/2025 19:35

My only advice is be careful who you tell. It won't take long for the begging letters and sob stories to start. Beware of those that suddenly want to be your friend.

Wimin123 · 30/10/2025 19:37

I had a win on the lottery. I went to the newsagent where I got the ticket from to claim my winnings. I had quite a queue behind me. The chap said they didn’t hold that much cash in their till and I would have to go elsewhere. There was a lot of interest from the queue behind me. For my own safety I disclosed the amount of my win to the people in the shop. I did not want to be mugged on the way out for the princely sum of £70!

PetuniaT · 30/10/2025 19:40

WindsurfingDreams · 29/10/2025 17:19

Make sure you share some with family and friends

Don;t tell anyone - the begging letters will be flooding in. (what's your address btw)

XenoBitch · 30/10/2025 19:40

Aw, I was hoping it would be a decent amount. I like seeing good news threads.

There has been a thread on here from someone who won a million, and another who won £10k each month for a year.

A fiver though. Don't let it change you. Enjoy your £3 "profit" 😁
