Just thought I'd scratch off a £2 card to get a pound for the trolley (no cash back anymore ???), and I've won £5. The doors have opened up for me now. Brainstorming what to spend it on!😆

Haha, just got my won a prize email yesterday and it was a fiver.

ArabellaSaurus · 29/10/2025 20:48

Congratulations. May I be the first to write an emotionally loaded and marginally manipulative begging letter?

Zippidydoodah · 29/10/2025 21:39

stupid thread.

I’m sorry to be a fun sponge, but it is. One day I would actually like to open a thread from a real life lottery winner! That would be interesting.

A Mumsnet chicken and a Freddo.

A Freddo???! Now that IS splurging! Have you ANY idea how much they cost ???!! 🤣🤣

TaVeryMuchLove · 29/10/2025 21:48

You could buy a sense of humour for @Zippidydoodah?

Runlikesomeoneleftgateopen · 29/10/2025 22:38

If you can hold your nerve until the day after boxing day, imagine, 5 cream eggs.

Put it in an ISA before Rachel changes the allowances in the budget.

The “I earn £150k AMA” isn’t interesting at all, there’s nothing interesting about having lots of money when others are struggling to make ends meet. It’s just sad.

I’m enjoying this thread much more.

Franjipanl8r · 30/10/2025 00:14

You could put a deposit down on a large pack of Lurpack butter. I saw a pack for sale for £8 in my supermarket the other day so you’ll need to save the other £3 before you can buy it outright.

GoodQueenBess · 30/10/2025 00:20

Buy English butter (or one in your country if not English).

Byemn · 30/10/2025 00:27

Don’t spend it all at once! Invest half of it 😆

I eat healthily but i'd get cheap doughnuts and just stuff my face with them in one go.

IMTHECRAZYOLDLADY · 30/10/2025 00:51

Tin of Quality Street. On special club card offer at Tesco today. .

Not necessarily! I know someone who bought a scratch card some years ago, won £10 and decided to buy 10 lottery tickets (back when they were £1) and the won nearly 2 million. 😲

I once won a tenner on the euro millions and used some of it to buy a lotto the very next day, man that was a crazy weekend. My sister was up as well, we went to see our gran actually

toparkforfreeorforfee · 30/10/2025 07:02

A freddo? With £5 you can probably afford about half of one by now...

Earning that much is not the same as winning it. I love hearing rags to riches stories. All these oh-so-funny quips about not spending it all at once etc…. Tedious 🥱

Someone posted a link yesterday for a beautifully decorated house in Manchester …

I've just got this 😆😂

Judecb · 30/10/2025 17:50

Don't let it change you! 🤣

PurpleCapybaraFan · 30/10/2025 17:56

Someone I used to work with won £57,000 in a radio competition a couple of years ago!
