I have been inspired to start a thread of joyful moments of things that lift your spirits and your heart!

🍁Do you like crunchy leaves?
🌄What is your favourite sky colour?
🥖What did you smell today that was lovely?
🐑Did you touch something soft and was it wonderful?

My day

This morning the sky was pink at 6.45am! This is my favourite ever sky colour and I was so happy to see it, I always say ‘red sky in the morning.. shepherds warning’ as if I know what this actually means..?

I popped to the shops today to find some new trousers but none of them were the right thickness or softness for me. It has to be just right, but I did like touching all the really soft jumpers in Next (for maybe longer than I should have..)

How was your day? Any joy to share?

I've had cake at someone's birthday!

Cake always makes me joyful.🍰

Hi @BrainItch happy new thread.

I haven't been outside today. I've been repainting the kitchen cupboards a lovely dark blue. That's made me happy.

Work in the morning.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 29/10/2025 17:50

I made plum crumble tonight. The kitchen smells delicious!

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 29/10/2025 17:51

I know what you mean about a beautiful sky. I saw one on my way to work yesterday and my lovely youngest always calls me to look at a gorgeous sky. I’ve taught him well 🥰. Today I went for a walk with two of my dc and they both commented on the lovely fresh air smell. That was joyous. I love it when they pay attention to what’s around us.

Ohnobackagain · 29/10/2025 17:51

@BrainItch partner made a cake so had a slice with a cuppa. Saw a ridiculous cute singing bird video that has made me smile. Red sky in the morning and the weather’s been foul so the shepherd’s warning was right 😆

It was dull this morning but the sky went beautiful shades of purple/mauve/pink this evening, the sun gilded the trees and it went a lovely fiery orange as it went down, and the clouds were light orange/peach.

I love crunchy leaves! 🍃🍂🍁
Can't decide my favourite sky colour. I remember a glorious sunset one summer night after it had been boiling all day a few years ago and it was all such deep rich velvety colours it was amazing, but the almost pastel shades you get on a frosty winter's day are gorgeous too, and everything in between.
My dinner cooking smelt lovely. Honey and mustard sausages and jacket potatoes (done in the microwave because it's quicker.)
DS's hair is lovely and soft and curly. ❤️

I took a rare shopping trip today (I hate shopping - too any many people, the lights are too bright and the music too awful). Even went to primark for the very first time! 🤣

I also spent longer than I should touching soft jumpers and stroking fluffy cushions as I walked past.

Then I smelt lots of reed diffusers - some of which were my favourite musky, ylang-ylang, sandalwood type scents.

We stopped on the way back for a beer in a pub with an open fire 🔥❤️

Followed by a nap on the sofa with soft blankets and candles.

It's been a day of many of my favourite joyful things!

I managed to walk 100 yards ( with walking stick) to my hair dressers and had a cut.
Passed the sandwich/ deli shop which smelt gorgeous so popped in for a pastry .
Then my eldest Grandson came to see me ( he's 20).. gave me so many cuddles .. l love the feel of his arms around me.

Today dawned grey and overcast, but slowly as the morning wore on the sky became clear and blue not a cloud in the sky, and the sun lit the coloured leaves on the trees and made them glow fiery red and deep lemon yellow.
Their contrast against the blue sky was stunning.
The wind picked up and I hung a line of washing, and by 4:00 p.m. it was completely dry; scented by chilled breeze and warm sunshine, oh joy!
DH made naan bread pizzas for tea, while I got a short nap under a soft cozy blanket, covered by four contented cats!

My little shy son chatted away to me today and I loved every minute!

MotherofAdults · 29/10/2025 19:47

My tube train got held up and so I took a bus. A panic about being late, turned into an amazing sightseeing tour from Trafalgar Square, down Whitehall, past the Houses of Parliament and over Westminster bridge. 30 odd years in London and I still bloody love it! (And i was on time!)

LittleMyLabyrinth · 29/10/2025 21:13

This morning I got up early and made cocoa from scratch. I have been looking for the perfect milk pan for ages so I could do that and finally found it! My son came downstairs and we had cocoa with Whipped cream and pumpkin-shaped marshmallows (!) and read magazines. He read Wild Times and I read Simple Things. It was SO cozy.

I’m going through very heavy duty cancer treatment right now and was immensely cheered up by a delivery of delicious treats from a dear friend.

I made delicious egg muffins for lunch that were devoured and spent most of the day relaxing and enjoying the fact that I wasn’t out in the rain!

Cornishclio · 29/10/2025 23:48

My joy today was a lovely yoga stretch class and a good book.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 30/10/2025 00:25

Blue Monday came on the radio and I spontaneously danced. Dd joined in and we just danced without conversation then the song ended and we went back to what we were doing, without a word! A little moment of joy in my kitchen.

cornflakecrunchie · 02/11/2025 18:45

I read your thread & thought it was lovely!
(and I saw a mistle thrush this morning..)

highlandponymummy · 02/11/2025 20:01

Lovely thread 😍. Rode my pony, went to a garden centre with DH for lunch, then a nap with my big fluffy cat.

Ihavepaidalotforthisstory · 02/11/2025 20:03

Honestly, watching my kids play football gives me so much joy; like nothing else.

DH and I went out for a coffee early on and then went for a lovely sunny walk around a lake close to home. I'm really loving watching the seasons change and I'm trying to appreciate all the weather, even the rain!
We came home to a clean, cosy home that smelt nice.
It really is the little things that are important.
Great thread, OP.

On my last five walks, I’ve picked an autumn leaf off a tree. They’re all beautiful colours and I’ve just found out it’s possible to preserve them 😃

Took this photo of a carpet of leaves today…

I’ve spent quality time with my family. I love to hear my DC laugh (and they are teenagers so not always easy to make them!)

stclementine · 02/11/2025 20:51

The light as the sun begins to set. Perfect and beautiful

Juststopit · 02/11/2025 20:53

I found a forgotten £20 note in my coat pocket so treated myself to a posh coffee I dont have much spare for treats and loved every sip of it.
