I feel like people really underestimate how hard it is to be a presenter. You forget they’ll probably have someone talking in their ear piece keeping them abreast of when XYZ thing is going to happen and please ask the dancer ABC and oh shit we need longer to set up the next dance etc etc. I can only imagine how tricky it must be to follow all that and have a half natural good conversation with the person they’re speaking to.

Imagine being paid what they get paid and being unable to manage it all though. Plenty of other people present in programmes all over the world, it's not an unusual task on TV.

Plenty of us in non BBC jobs also do multitasking roles and manage them without looking like a deer in the headlights and without having to rely on a script to do the job.

mbonfield · 26/10/2025 14:47

Their salaries are going to be cut next year and the BBC only want one person to be a compere according to YT reporter!

That was the worst episode this year. Everyone was constantly saying how wonderful Cynthia Erivo was. It sounded like it was a contractual obligation just to have her on the show. It became unwatchable. We had to turn it off.

Also, Cynthia Erivo is very politically divisive and will just fuel the demands of viewers for scrapping the license fee.

I like Cynthia Erico but it was really wierd the way they promoted her constantly in that episode. I mean it’s right they were welcoming to a guest judge but it came across as way over the top.

Also, the whole “who will be head judge this week?” points to some back stage rivalry if you ask me!

Time to let it go! There was life before Strictly on a Saturday night! Surely a creative organisation like the BBC could come up with some original family entertainment to fill the gap? There is such a dearth of originality nowadays sadly!

Oh definitely me too I guess I just think not all the people mentioned here would have the skills to hold it all together live. It’s not exactly the same as doing Bake Off or something I would think. Disclaimer I have no clue and haven’t even presented at karaoke 😂

There's a rehearsal on Fridays with everyone being present - presenters, dancers, judges, TV crew, the band, etc etc. A run through.

I would love to see Rylan & zoe ball; they used to be excellent on ITT

chunkyBoo · 26/10/2025 19:38

I’ll really miss Claudia as she’s excellent. I really haven’t ever warmed to Tess, she’s just meh for me.
i wonder if they’ll change the format

Claudia is probably excellent as her mum is Eve Pollard and her dad is I believe a film director

Having known a few people in TV and entertainment, I’d imagine more than 2 of the people involved in Strictly have had some coke. It might have been that they got caught doing it visibly and the bbc wanted to crack down on it, excuse the pun.

WhatterySquash · 27/10/2025 11:28

No it's just one of the various recent scandals, but who did coke has not been revealed AFAIK

TBH I don’t think they really need two.

WhatterySquash · 27/10/2025 11:45

No! I was responding to someone else asking who were the reported two people that did coke. That has not been revealed, I was just saying probably coke-taking is more common than that, but not implicating the presenters at all.

It seems very hard to take "someone did some coke" seriously as a scandal.

WhatterySquash · 27/10/2025 14:33

I think it's just one of several scandals, rumours and unfortunate incidents - like the sexual harassment, violence, bullying etc that have been reported and led to various people having to leave. Some have suggested Tess and Claudia are leaving because of pay cute. And/or they could have just decided to leave as it's all got a bit shabby and past its sell-by-date, and the frequent scandals are not a good look.

HannySweetRatty · 29/10/2025 00:03

Gethin Jones and Janette Manrara get my vote. But the programme is still very popular, it brightens my Saturday evenings anyway.

HelenSkeleton · 29/10/2025 01:06

Janette Manrara is too much.

autienotnaughty · 05/11/2025 18:23

Gibstub · 26/10/2025 07:29

Actually, I think maybe the show is past its sell by date.

7 million people disagree. It’s the highest rated show on the beeb

autienotnaughty · 05/11/2025 18:26

Richard Osman suggested Amanda Holden and Chris Ramsey.
I think an experienced glam female for the Tess job definitely but maybe someone younger who’s popular on socials for the Claudia role .

Amanda Holden is just awful.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 06/11/2025 00:54

Is Holly W the front runner? I hope not!

Gibstub · 06/11/2025 08:22

Me too. Not Holly Willoughby

HelenSkeleton · 06/11/2025 08:55

It's easier for me to say people I wouldn't want. Holly Willoughby, Amanda Holden, Bradley Walsh, Staceys Dooley and Solomon. Then Ant and Dec, though I doubt they'd be in the running they get mentioned a lot. People don't seem fussed about Alison Hammond but I've never seen her present anything so can't comment. I thought Janette would be over the top but maybe not. Zoe Ball would be great.

LavenderBlue19 · 06/11/2025 09:37

Definitely, definitely not Holly Willoughby, Amanda Holden or Alison Hammond. All unbearable and not right for Strictly. They're a bit ITV darling...

I don't mind Fleur for the Tess role, she does a decent job on ITT and could do glam very well. Graham Norton would be amazing but I suspect he wouldn't be interested. Rylan might be ok, would need to tone it down a bit though and make everything less about him.

I'd love Ellie Taylor for the Claudia role. She's quick-witted and warm, decent presenting experience and has done the show. If not Ellie Taylor then Zoe Ball.
