What!!! Is this true? Who will take over? I'm shocked!

And yet nobody has mentioned Cynthia Erivo?! She would be perfect, she has the perfect balance of everything a presenter needs. So my choice would be her in the Tess role and Zoe Ball in the Claudia role!
I did wonder if something was afoot when Cynthia appeared on the show the other week. It was all a bit out of the blue. And after I'd seen her and heard her comments I wanted her to be on every week! I don't know why anyone is suggesting the likes of Alison Hammond, Rylan Clarke, Graham Norton, Alan Carr, Alexander Armstrong (blood sport enthusiast he is) Dreary O'Leary or the myriad other vacuous and not particularly entertaining "celebrities"! I use the word celebrities loosely.
They all have their slots - Mel and Sue, fabulous on GBBO, would not fit into hosting Strictly! (Let's face it, Mel is one step away from being a childrens TV presenter! She has a weird delivery for anything but GBBO!)
Strictly needs someone classy if it is going to keep running.

That was the worst episode this year. Everyone was constantly saying how wonderful Cynthia Erivo was. It sounded like it was a contractual obligation just to have her on the show. It became unwatchable. We had to turn it off.

Also, Cynthia Erivo is very politically divisive and will just fuel the demands of viewers for scrapping the license fee.

She was dire. Absolutely forced her into the show, unnatural scripting, and whilst she seemed very pleasant to everyone I have zero interest in her.

Plus she's a singer, not a presenter. Might as well ask for J Lo to do it.

Mylittlebobble · 25/10/2025 16:37

I can't see Cynthia Erivo being cheaper than T &C. I didn't think she had anything interesting to say either. It all seemed a bit woolly. Alex Jones might be a safe pair of hands.

Mel pulls faces all the time.

Mel pulls faces all the time.

Exactly, not classy and comes across as quite childish to me.

As for Cynthia Erivo, I know very little about her, I'd very briefly seen her once on something and when she apparently on STC, I still didn't really know who she was. So I was basing my opinion on what I saw that night. Although I have to agree, I was a bit puzzled about all the fawning and admiration for her!

HelenSkeleton · 25/10/2025 17:43

The Cynthia evening was nauseating. She seems a nice person and gave good critique. I imagine she felt embarrassed by it.

Mydogandme · 25/10/2025 20:06

Possibly Ant and Dec could replace them can't do any worse 😁

TheKeeperofBooks · 25/10/2025 20:31

Perhaps someone fresh?

Will Claudia be able to see her way out? Terrible affectation that fringe!

LemonLass · 25/10/2025 21:00

Zingy123 · 25/10/2025 00:32

Please no Amanda Holden, Holly Willoughby, Hannah Waddingham, Janette, Fleur, Clare Balding, AJ Odudu or Oti.

Alison Hammond is my prediction and maybe fellow Brummie, Radio 2's Richie Anderson?!

No, I don’t think it will be either of those two.

I reckon it will be a former strictly winner or top three contestant.

Mylittlebobble · 25/10/2025 21:08

I'm coming round to the idea of Fleur. She'd be good in Tess's role, and look great every Saturday.

SprintBack · 25/10/2025 21:18

As in anything public, they are not going to be able to please everyone with the casting for this.

MN, between us, have written off most of those who maybe on the list!😆

Gibstub · 26/10/2025 07:26

I like Tess but Claudia irritates me. Cannot watch anything she is on.

Gibstub · 26/10/2025 07:29

Actually, I think maybe the show is past its sell by date.

lemonraspberry · 26/10/2025 07:42

To replace tess and claudia maybe Emma Willis and Laura Whitmore. Keep the dark/blonde thing going.

About time the whole show was put out of its misery though. It has long past its sell by date, some of the celebrities are barely known and the show is just used by the BBC to put their favourites in the spotlight, almost like a rite of passage for their career.

It has had it moments, Ed Balls salsa dancing to gangman style is something I still rewatch when having a bad day, Aliona and jay mcguiness jive but these are rare moments.

The only thing I can positively say about the show is the active inclusion of disabled contestants.

GwendolineWindowlene · 26/10/2025 07:46

Ore Aduba?
Promote Fleur East and put Rose Ayling-Ellis into ITT?

NewAgeNewMe · 26/10/2025 07:47

JAA17 · 25/10/2025 13:24

Neal Sean is often more accurate and based in reality rather than, let's say, the happy-clappy official nonsense:

If true, then like most things in life, follow the money for the truth.

Makes sense thank you

WTF. Firstly no anyway to those two but their hair colour comes into the mix for you? Bloody hell.

SprintBack · 26/10/2025 11:14

Tess is 56! Who knew! (many people obviously but it had passed me by).

She is amazing, figure, hair, beautiful lady.

PuppyMonkey · 26/10/2025 11:39

Sounds shallow, but the main presenter (the Tess role) needs to be someone who can glam up spectacularly and have us all ooh-ing at the dress. The Claudia role could be someone more quirky, the main aim being they’re good at quick one liners and spontaneous reaction.

I can’t think who though. Grin

That’s why I can see Graham Norton or someone in a series of gorgeous suits. Mind you I do think Tess does quite a lot of in the moment mopping up of emotions from dancers who’ve just fucked things up, she seems great at comforting them so they don’t fall apart before the judges comment.

I really would hate Rylan or Alan Carr.

PuppyMonkey · 26/10/2025 13:38

Melanie Sykes could be glam - Graham could be Claudia.

FancyOliveHiker · 26/10/2025 13:51

TheTecknician · 23/10/2025 10:44

I've never watched the programme but just how important are the presenters when it's not about them but rather the contestants?

The presenters are important as to keep the watchers entertained.

BreadstickBurglar · 26/10/2025 14:23

I feel like people really underestimate how hard it is to be a presenter. You forget they’ll probably have someone talking in their ear piece keeping them abreast of when XYZ thing is going to happen and please ask the dancer ABC and oh shit we need longer to set up the next dance etc etc. I can only imagine how tricky it must be to follow all that and have a half natural good conversation with the person they’re speaking to.
