What a stylish, elegant lady. Designer, high achiever, business woman. I am in total awe of her.

I can only DREAM of being that stylish & elegant.

Pr?

namechangesafe · 20/10/2025 08:49

Hmmm she is very stylish and looks amazing and I really admire her work ethic but I don’t think it highlighter her skills as a designer or businesswoman!!

she was spending 100k a year on plant in her business when it was financially making losses. That is NOT business acumen 🤣

snoopysdog · 20/10/2025 08:49

I am not VB !!! if only ....

Am I the only one who actually likes her ?!

Why can you not be as stylish? It is just clothes!

Calm down, there’s no need for all the exclamation marks.

Yellowe · 20/10/2025 08:51

Really? I mean, she seems perfectly pleasant, and I quite like some of the VB clothes, but the associations to me are still more awkward dancing and miming in Spice Girls videos, 2006 WAGs, David Beckham shagging around, and eating only steamed fish off a baby plate.

IvedoneitagainhaventI · 20/10/2025 08:53

Honestly OP why would you start a thread like this unless you are set for having fun winding people up?

brighterraven · 20/10/2025 08:55

I agree with you. She knew she was not the best dancer or singer, but worked really hard - she was the first in the studio practising at drama school and last to finish (that's the testimony of her peers at drama school) . She persevered when others did not believe in her and was in the most successful girl band ever. When that finished she could have rested on her wealth but built a successful second career. Sure she has the advantage of money and some connections but she had a huge credibility problem. Everyone in fashion was laughing at her and willing her to fail. I remember reading the fashion journalists who were gradually won over by her knowledge and her personality ( polite and personable). She has gumption, grit, focus and a hard work ethic. I admire that.

Someone at work was slagging her the other day saying she is only famous because of David B. Its the other way around, she was the international superstar and he was on the reserve benches when they met. He would always have been famous as a footballer, but it was his relationship with her that supercharged his fame beyond football and means he is still famous outside of football.

I like her - nothing wrong with that.

I find the bile directed at VB extraordinairy.

I like her too.

I am old enough ( early 50s) to have followed her early career. I remember her first tv documentary after leaving the Spice Girls and really liked her in it. She was very ' what you see is what you get', self deprecating, despite having been in the most successful girl band ever.

I remember the fashion mags gunning for her as she tried to build a career in fashion. I remember the interview accompanying her first cover on Vanity Fair. The journalist said she had no intention of putting VB on the cover when she set off to interview her. She started by asking VB about her kids. Then VB asked her about herself and her family and chatted about that. The journalist said in all her years, no interviewee had ever asked her about herself. Then she was impressed by VBs knowledge of fashion. And she put her on the front cover saying ' good manners will get you everywhere.' Similarly, I remember a journalist covering her first fashion show. It was a small selected audience, but VB did not hide behind the stage, but sat outfront and talked the audience through each item herself. The journalist said VB was clearly nervous but also knew her stuff and it took grit to be so front stage.

I like her. I think its really disappointing that even today, the successful woman gets torn down whilst her H is lionised, and when it was her who supercharged her husband's fame, the narrative gets reversed so people say she is famous because of him.

evilharpy · 20/10/2025 09:51

I like her. And I love her style. Her brand is out of my price range but if I could afford it I would love to wear it.

snoopysdog · 20/10/2025 10:00

@evilharpy totally out of my price range too, but yes would love to wear it

I like what I have seen of her clothes.
Not sure about her.

angelos02 · 20/10/2025 10:06

I like her too - never understand the vitriol towards her. I mean she is rich beyond belief, four healthy children and married to David Beckham. Perhaps it is just jealousy.

I would rather be a nun than have 4 children- particularly those ones- or be married to the philandering DB!

So no jealousy here. Not big on celebs though. I rarely see much to admire.

Westfacing · 20/10/2025 10:14

The Beckhams have made themselves a fortune and built a world-famous brand so good luck to them, but I have no particular interest in them other than Beckham was a great footballer!

As separate people, he would have been mega anyway as a handsome famous footballer, and she would be known as a former Spice Girl, but meeting each other they became global. They've had a long marriage, four children and seem happy.

My only criticism would be bringing up their children in the public eye - and so far the three eldest seem not to have achieved anything outside brand Beckham.

Soonenough · 20/10/2025 10:17

Think she gets a lot of vitriol unnecessarily. The documentary showed some awful people making really nasty comments - all men. No need for it . She admitted herself how she regrets some of her previous attempts at finding a focus after Spice Girls. She is also not the first wive to try to protect her marriage and family . I think the fact that they both come from strong supportive families helps keep them grounded as much as is possible.

Plus I do love her clothes .

Gastropod · 20/10/2025 10:17

I was never especially interested in the Spice Girls or her time as “just” a WAG but as a designer I really rather like VB.

I think the documentary showed her in a positive light (not surprisingly- I assume that was the aim!) and I found my respect for her growing as a result.

Though clearly not a wise businesswoman when she started out, she obviously has a strong work ethic.

What shocked me most from the documentary was being reminded of the sheer scale of the misogyny directed towards her so publicly. Utterly vile. And inexcusable, IMO.

Bumdrops · 20/10/2025 10:19

Not awe inspiring at all !

just the product of a ton of money being chucked at her

does not come across as genuine / authentic about anything -

vacuous

long term eating disorder is a serious illness not something to admire

DiscoBob · 20/10/2025 10:22

Her 'business' consistently loses money and wouldn't exist if it wasn't bankrolled by her husband. It's more of a hobby on a grand scale. She can't make patterns or draw or cut.

She only eats about 500 calories a day and is smaller than her 14 year old daughter. As an ED sufferer I find her appearance very triggering. She's ridiculously underweight.

So I can't say I'm a fan. Quite the opposite.

She discusses this in the documentary, along with David, saying there was a lot of waste, she didn’t know how to run a business, how the business model was unsustainable etc

I think it’s turned around now David Belhassen is on board, I think.

She was quite honest about it all, I don’t mind her, can’t understand why people are so bothered about her losing her husbands money anyway, down to them surely

That's fair enough. But I just don't like it when people call her a successful business woman or designer. She really isn't either of those things in any meaningful terms.
