What a stylish, elegant lady. Designer, high achiever, business woman. I am in total awe of her.

I can only DREAM of being that stylish & elegant.

I found her and the documentary super dull.
its a shame she’s got the filler face look as she’s obviously a very attractive woman. You’d think with her money she’d be able to find the best in the game.
She’s very underweight and has been for years- the comment about not eating chocolate since the 90s gave me a massive eye roll. I’d be very worried about my bones if I was her.
i mean I like her eyeliner but she’s not a good business woman and her fashion talent is very limited- there are far more talented designers out there but she’s trading off the name, which is understandable but doesn’t make her good.

I saw the clip about the chocolate on Gogglebox. tbf a lot of chocolate brands tasted better then. Look whats happened to Roses

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 20/10/2025 18:38

I quite like her although I’m no super fan.
I think it must be extremely hard to be in her position and not be very thin.
I don’t care that she stayed with DB after his affair, many women stay.
Having said all this I’ve never bought any of her products.

MissNixs · 20/10/2025 18:44

@JenniferBooth it was a programme called TFI Friday with Chris Evan’s.

emilyinrutshire · 20/10/2025 18:46

I've always liked VB and think she looks great. The documentary actully made me like her less though, she was so dull in it.

Many new businesses lose money for many year when they start, she also said it was difficult to admit she needed help, but she has and now it’s sorted. Running a business is a massive learning curve regardless of who you are.

Yeah I get that, DH is self employed, there's been some really lean years and losses and we put savings into it and maxed out overdrafts and credit cards etc at the same time as constantly assessing and re-evaluating where savings could be made

Because unlike the relateable Beckhams we didnt have anyone to bail us out. We considered moving house to clear the debt so I understand being afraid to lose everything (And this is a business based on something DH trained for years to do and is very skilled at) I think for her, the biggest risk was being ridiculed, or public failure which would be horrendous and add to feeling insecure, but not the same financial risk as most new start up businesses.

namechangesafe · 20/10/2025 20:15

@BuildbyNumbereit doesn’t take a genius to work out paying 85k a year for plants then another 15k t for someone to water them is fucking ridiculous when your business is losing money. You don’t need to be good at business to know that!

accountants give you your annual profit and say how much you’ve made or lost, so sorry you’d have to be a complete idiot to still be buying plants for 100k a year under these circumstances.

I actually like her, but the poster called her business woman, I am highlighting why business woman isn’t a word I’d use to describe her that’s all!

It’s a multi milllion pound company, no CEO would know about every little thing, that’s why they have employees. She obviously employed the wrong ones!

louderthan · 20/10/2025 21:40

I like her a lot. I think everyone forgets she was in the Spice Girls, there’s never really been a pop group like them since. She was a megastar in the 90s.

CarmellaSopranosKitchen · 20/10/2025 21:48

But really her fashion house failed big time, and it only kept going because DB bailed her out to the tune of millions. Likewise she had a privledged background. I fail to see what is impressive? She done well for someone not that talented - but that's surely more to do with connections?

cramptramp · 20/10/2025 21:50

BuildbyNumbere · 20/10/2025 20:28

She probably didn’t even know about it.

She did. It said in the programme that she loves plants and that’s why they had so many.

Fizbosshoes · 20/10/2025 21:50

She basically has the luxury of having a business with her name on it, without doing any of the boring stuff like looking at the accounts to see how or where they were losing money....because there was more money to prop it up. Surely the (self confessed) control freak in her would want to know why it wasnt making any money?

It seems either a bit arrogant or a bit naive imo to start a fashion business.....without any previous experience of fashion ....or business....

CarmellaSopranosKitchen · 20/10/2025 21:55

But good for her... really.

She said she had a lot of people around her, who she didn’t realise didn’t want to say no to her.
And that she needs to have people who tell her no, that’s ridiculous, which is what she now has.

EverybodyLTB · 20/10/2025 17:33

Just to add to my above post, obviously anyone doing things like weighing her on telly, digging at her about her weight or appearance publicly or slagging her off for her weight/looks from a misogynistic standpoint is despicable. She incessantly brought the wolves to the door though, but I see it as two wrongs don’t make a right. Nobody should be subjected to abuse in the papers obviously, but then why oh why does she call the paps on herself and Harper?

I agree. I don’t understand why they have allowed Harper to be in the limelight and so active on social media. There is no possible benefit to her, other than more publicity for the family brand.
No mention was made if VB still eats the same thing for every meal, steamed fish and vegetables. If true, I don’t think this has set a good example to the children.

namechangesafe · 20/10/2025 21:57

@BuildbyNumbereas someone in business, if a business is losing money for over a decade - even an idiot or CEO with thousands of employees would stop and say hey, I’d like to see where we are spending money. Or, why is my business losing money every year. She didn’t care because her business is about her ego and love of fashion. She only got the investor when David said he couldn’t continue funding. I bet if it were her own money she would have asked the questions!!

This is BASIC, even a child would know this.

soupyspoon · 20/10/2025 22:00

Ive never understood why she gets such a lot of bile

Because her husband supported her businesses? Wow, how awful.
Because she struggles with eating and has flaws and fragilities and anxieties? Wow, terrible
Because her husband has been unfaithful? Sounds like she is to blame.

Ive never seen her falling out of a club, fighting people, slagging people off, comitting crime, bigging herself up as some sort of Question Time talking head out of her depth, taking drugs or drunk.

Gymbunny2025 · 20/10/2025 22:01

She seems very funny and down to earth. And a strong person. My only opinion on her fashion is that the mango collab was terrible.

RunningJo · 20/10/2025 22:18

I think for me VB is someone I wanted to like, I watched the documentary and found it quite boring, maybe because I’m not into fashion in a big way. I think she comes across as a nice person, but agree that she didn’t have the right people around her when she started her business - I’m sure she isn’t the only one, the difference is, her losses can and were covered.
I do think she has a good work ethic, but that doesn’t make you a business woman, which shows in this documentary.
The part when she says (and I’m paraphrasing) follow your dreams, made me eye roll because not everyone has several million to be able to do that, and several million more to prop up said dreams.

The impression I got was that she adores David, and he loves her. Just not sure it’s equal. I don’t know why but I think he’d be difficult to live with.
But this is all just my option from a recording - no one really knows what they’re like. Ultimately they’re a brand so are only ever going to show what they want us to see.

ilovepixie · 20/10/2025 22:19

brighterraven · 20/10/2025 08:55

I agree with you. She knew she was not the best dancer or singer, but worked really hard - she was the first in the studio practising at drama school and last to finish (that's the testimony of her peers at drama school) . She persevered when others did not believe in her and was in the most successful girl band ever. When that finished she could have rested on her wealth but built a successful second career. Sure she has the advantage of money and some connections but she had a huge credibility problem. Everyone in fashion was laughing at her and willing her to fail. I remember reading the fashion journalists who were gradually won over by her knowledge and her personality ( polite and personable). She has gumption, grit, focus and a hard work ethic. I admire that.

Someone at work was slagging her the other day saying she is only famous because of David B. Its the other way around, she was the international superstar and he was on the reserve benches when they met. He would always have been famous as a footballer, but it was his relationship with her that supercharged his fame beyond football and means he is still famous outside of football.

Totally agree with everything you’ve said.

BuildbyNumbere · 20/10/2025 22:53

cramptramp · 20/10/2025 21:50

She did. It said in the programme that she loves plants and that’s why they had so many.

Probably wasn’t aware of exactly how much it was costing though.

Yep, she’s just posted to instagram, the family sat round the table having a roast dinner, and VB has only a piece of salmon in the middle of an otherwise empty plate. She’s also posing at a bizarre angle instead of just enjoying her family. I don’t get it. Why post? If it’s all so awful for your mental health and ED, just stop putting your life out into the world. She’s damaging herself and she’s halfway to probably irreparably damaging her daughter. In the clip I saw of her doc she’s referring to her appearance repeatedly in front of Harper, all the while exposing her to the media non stop and pushing her into influencing. Just awful. I think she’s an irresponsible parent. David is awful too and seems to treat her with contempt, she’s like a bag of nerves around him and clings to him for dear life. She should get help for her media addiction and ED. It’s not her fault she’s got an eating disorder, but she should be seeking support, even going somewhere residential, over shoving her boring life down our throats and dragging her dead business about.

Right … so she recognised a weakness and employed the right person to fix it. Isn’t that what a successful business person does?!?
