Eggs Royale for me. It's eggs Benedict but with smoked salmon instead of ham. I use toasted bread instead of muffins because I've always got some on hand.
Toast, too much butter, salmon, poached egg, shop bought hollandaise on top. Lovely.

CONTROVERSIAL: Beans are nice, but better if you serve them separately so the toast so it doesn't go as soggy, sticky and damp as a toddler's undernose.

Pesto spread over toasted seeded bread with chopped tomatoes (home grown atm!) and a good dash of pepper.
Pilchards in tomato sauce on toast reminds me on Sunday tea as a child and I often have it for lunch.
Cheese on toast with sliced tomatoes grilled and a dash of Worcestershire sauce.
Left over french stick sliced through, brush oil on the crusty side and spread tomato purée over the bread side and top with cheese and a sprinkle of mixed herbs, cook in the oven on a baking sheet for French bread pizza yummy!
Ooh I fancy toast now!

BLT on toast is the top sandwich and also top toast combo, imo, but there's stiff competition from fish fingers in a hot buttered toast sandwich with a splash of lemon.

Honorable mention goes to sardines in a tomato sauce on thick buttered toast. I used to indulge in toasted cheese with tomato chutney before I left Ireland and I can't get decent tomato chutney now, so that's just a fond memory.

My local cafff does sourdough (of course) with avocado and feta on top. Sprinkled with cherry tomatoes and toasted seeds. It's rather delicious

But you can't beat cheese on toast or beans. Or fried eggs. Or butter and marmite. Or butter and peanut butter. Or marmalade.

Yes. Toast is wonderful. A gift.

Cracking post OP

Leftover Bolognese sauce. Sounds ridiculous but is very lovely if it's really nice thick bread and butter and you don't let it go too soggy.

Mince on toast was a staple of my childhood, absolutely loved it.

Mydahliasareshit · 05/10/2025 19:27

Ripe banana mashed with salted butter. Mmmmm

SilkAndSparklesForParties · 05/10/2025 19:29

Turkey dripping on boxing day. A smear of the fat and then the jelly on top. It's yummy.

YourWinter · 05/10/2025 19:33

I love any toast but melted mature cheddar and a dash it Worcester sauce is my usual go-to.

Or eggs, or tinned tomatoes (I like baked beans but my IBS doesn’t), bacon and HP sauce, fish fingers and tartare sauce, or lemon marmalade, or strawberry jam, marmite, Nutella or biscoff spread… or just good butter!

itsgettingweird · 05/10/2025 19:48

Tinned long spaghetti in tomato sauce with cheese!

WoodenBoat80 · 05/10/2025 20:03

Already commented with Beans but wanted to add something my ADULT son said just now that cracked me up.
I made Lime Marmalade on toast for everyone this morning, he hasn’t had this since he was a small child according to him.
He just came downstairs and said mum can I make some more Halloween spread on toast!
I apparently told him it was called that as a child (guessing because of the colour) and he genuinely thought that was its real name. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

TheChosenTwo · 05/10/2025 20:06

I almost never ever eat toast cos I’m a greedy bastard and can’t stick to 2 slices and my insulin resistant PCOS just lived for carby toast heaven but I must push back 😭

my only exception is a hotel breakfast. Or when dh does Welsh rarebit 😋
I think rarebit would make it into a course of my death row meal.

Sjkeb · 05/10/2025 20:10

Scrambled eggs on toast, with either smoked salmon or sliced avocado on top.
Glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and a pot of good ground coffee and you have my perfect breakfast

mabelmaura · 05/10/2025 20:18

I love toast.... I'm going to have to make some now!- I just like it with butter.. sometimes I do one slice with butter and salad cream and the other slice with butter and marmite!

TheExcitersblowingupmymind · 05/10/2025 20:35

Cheese on toast done under the grill.
Sometimes spread tomato sauce on the cheese and grill😋

familyissues12345 · 05/10/2025 20:36

Cheese and marmite

beans and cheese

AhBiscuits · 05/10/2025 21:31

I used to love spaghetti hoops or tinned ravioli on toast as a child.

AdaColeman · 05/10/2025 22:37

Buttered toast with Gentleman's Relish, lovely with a glass of sherry.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 05/10/2025 22:46

Avocado mashed onto hot toast, then sprinkled with lime, chilli and salt.

Mashed boiled egg and a smear of Marmite.

Honey butter.

Peanut butter and raspberry jam.

Sliced banana and peanut butter.

Just butter - but it must be the French butter with huge salt crystals.

And then, weirdly only in hotels, crunchy toast triangles, cold, with a generous spread of butter and marmalade.

Proper good bread with good butter and salt

Jam - any flavour

My husband is a Baker and brings home fresh bread every day.

Ooh! Go on then... tell us what types of loaves he turns up with 😊

DiscoBob · 06/10/2025 16:34

Nothing that makes the bread remotely soggy. So no beans, no scrambled egg.

I love marmite on toast with salted butter. But I prefer it when it's cooled a bit so the butter doesn't 'wet' the bread when you spread it.

Cheese on toast is great too. Mature cheddar, comte, leerdamer, emmental, mozerella. Any of those. Just with some black pepper. But it has to be quite crispy before you add the cheese, then crispy again when it melts. Half cooked COT is a criminal offence!

Just very good quality, completely baked in store fresh bread. Its a tiny family run Bakery which has been around since the 50s, so a small range of beautiful basics. Im not a huge fan of their brown bread but their granary and white bread is just to die for! I am trying to convince them to do sourdough, but theyre very old school and I guess being around for this long, they know what they are doing. They have people come from 50 miles away to get their fix!

We also get a neverending supply of fresh cream cakes, egg custards, custard slices, scones, victoria sponges and sausage rolls - .all the ones that maybe dont look as perfect as they should so dont get put out for sale, but still taste incredible.

My neighbours and friends love us because they get fresh bread and cake thrust at them every time we see them!

However, the scales and my dress size clearly does not like his job. Nor does my washing machine because bakers whites ate a bloody nightmare to keep sparkly - and the smell of cream that has been mushed into his apron at 3am and been in a hot Bakery all day absolutely stinks....
