Chance of a general election next year and Reform winning?

1000 replies

Confused78 · 25/09/2025 21:50

They are winning in the polls it seems. I've been watching Nigel Farage's Instagram, he really just talks common sense. I find myself agreeing with a lot of what he says.
I'm definitely not far right and I'm not a leftie,
I think I'm somewhere in the middle.
But I am sick of Conservative and Labour and think it's time to give a new party a chance, especially if they are going to properly tackle illegal immigrants coming over and the ones that are already here.
I don't necessarily agree with his call to deport those with Indefinite leave to remain however.

Well you need to get a job. I'm sure you're both capable. And you'll also have to put money aside to pay for GP and most certainly a dental appointment.

Edited

Pretty sure Izzy is working. It's her DH who got made redundant. And hey, I've been made redundant twice in my life and I'm still here. You dust yourself off, you get up, you carry on.

And meanwhile, you cut your cloth. Private school is a luxury.

I've got a job no need to be patronising

Lucky Reform. An ex Labour canvasser. I’ll leave you to decide I haven’t as I said.

You haven't persuaded me. Are you unsure what Reform has to deliver to enrich my life?

For someone who is working, they spend a lot of time on Mumsnet.

Clearly I’m not trying to persuade you, I couldn’t care less if you vote for them or not. You’ll have to do the work yourself and decide at the next GE.

Oh I've touched a nerve.
Still no answer to my questions either.

Don’t flatter yourself.

Deploying the R card remains a particular low.

You sound like someone who resorts to baseless insults. No idea why you need my help to vote. Decide yourself.

The poster you are responding to wasn't talking about you - she was talking about another poster who very clearly believed that you couldn't be a hijab wearing Muslim women and also be British. This poster literally referred to these women as 'wanting to live here' - without ever acknowledging that hey, they are British and so have every right to want to live in their own country and be free to practise their religion.

That was highly racist and offensive. If you think it isn't - well.

Yep typical

I feel energised.

I can see that many people despise this utter shower of a government, and want them out as I do.

Thankfully, the budget is coming - may it prove a humdinger of a horlicks. Perhaps Reeves will turn on the waterworks again. Perhaps the bond markets will puke. Perhaps the back benches will rebel again.

The sooner we can lance the suppurating boil that is this government, the better.

If Reform need to be that lance, amen to that.

Quite the evangelical speech. And yet you care little about others.

Well don't worry - by voting in a Reform Government you'll make life an awful lot worse for people of colour in the UK.
But I suspect you don't give a flying fuck about them as long as you are better off yourself.
I never realised British Culture could be summarised by I'm alright Jack
And you still haven't responded to my questions about the future for my Muslim boss. Worried you'll show your true colour?

Starmer is the gift that keeps on giving. Every day, he puts another nail in Labour's coffin. He is officially the most unpopular PM since records began. Tick tock.

where are you getting the poll that ks is the most unpopular PM and why is it important to be popular between elections - surely it better to get on with the job in hand and make the country better rather than worrying about popularity at this stage

But you weren't the one insiuating that British born Muslim women shouldn't be allowed to live their lives in their own country and have the freedom to express their faith, were you? Because that would be racist. If you did say that, please let me know so I can make an informed choice about how I respond to your posts.

Ipsos. Its across many media outlets, easy to find.
If only he would 'make the country better'. Unfortunately it's quite clear that he isn't capable.

GabrielsOboe · 01/10/2025 20:22

Sir Keir Starmer has said he wants Angela Rayner back in his Government.

Tone fucking deaf.

Deploying the R card?

Don"t be silly @GabrielsOboe.
Are you seriously suggesting that race, immigration, and Islamophobia ISN"T tied up with the Reform agenda?
I'll say it again since you seem to be struggling with comprehension.
I have friends and colleagues who are worried by the rise of racism and the fact that racist tropes are apparently becoming socially acceptable. I have empathy with those people because it's part of my British Culture to believe that all people should be treated equally.

At least one person on this thread has said that my Muslim boss shouldn't wear her traditional headscarf. You have constantly failed to say how you think my Muslim boss should expect to be treated. I doubt you will respond now.

Appenzell · 01/10/2025 21:03

twistyizzy · 01/10/2025 17:29

I don't care. Labour have been hugely damaging for my family and country. Look at the language being used by Labour supporters, it's divisive and downright nasty/vile. They say Reform are disgusting, well I think many Labour supporters are and yesterday's speech has fuelled division and hatred on all sides.
If I abstain from voting then I risk letting Labour in and I can't stand the thought of that. If I had a viable alternative I would look at it but I don't.

Do you honestly think that Reform are going to make your life better? Do you not see that they will most certainly make it even worse? I get that you don't like Labour, and I get that you want them out. But Reform? Really?

Nigel Farage has done nothing but cause trouble for this country. He isn't going to make the life of us ordinary people any better. He doesn't give a shit about us. Brexit didn't exactly end well, did it? He's threatening to get rid of the NHS and replace it with an insurance scheme. He wants to get rid of the Equalities Act. I mean, think about that. Seriously, please think of what that might mean for you and your children.
