Is this a reasonable amount of space to leave between cars?

I thought the grey car should have been able to get out (there’s room for them to go back a bit too) but I’ve just been sworn at and threatened to hit my car.

Is this a reasonable amount of space to leave between cars?

Depends on how much space is behind and the ability of the driver I suppose. I could get out of there, but I know people that need a space the size of a bus before they can manoeuvre in and out of it!

TheNightingalesStarling · 18/09/2025 12:10

Depends how much space is behind.
But the darker car seems to be blocking a path where the grey car is parked to the edge if it?

FridayIsItFridayYet · 18/09/2025 12:11

Personally, I'd say it's a bit rude to park that close. If that's how much they have at the back (although as you say "a bit" I imagine it's less than that) then I can see why they're annoyed.

next to the blue car is an allocated parking space - there was a car in it (it’s just out of shot) It belongs to the son of the blue car so not blocking him in or anything

Blue car looks like it is parked too close, blocking a path and the headlights look needlessly aggressive. Poor silver car looks frightened.

Team silver.

Slightly more at the back for them to reverse

It’s not blocking a path - it’s a pull in allocated parking space. The blue cars son is in it (just out of shot)

though I did laugh at the silver car looking scared

No.

rewardh · 18/09/2025 12:16

That’s actually ridiculous parking. Even if some of us could get out of there it doesn’t really matter. It’s arrogant to park so close.

InWalksBarberalla · 18/09/2025 12:16

That would be considered too close in my neighbourhood. The whole thing looks so strange with the two parked cars facing different directions - is that even allowed?
Its illegal to park against the flow of the traffic in Australia.

Gosh, why did you laugh at them? You really are not coming off well here tbh.

XelaM · 18/09/2025 12:17

Of course it's enough space to get out.

Edited

I laughed at the comment that the face of the car looked scared because the blue one had aggressive looking lights! Like cars have facial expressions 😂😂

If yours is the blue car then you've parked far too close. I'd be annoyed with you especially if I had to do a 5 point turn to get out of the minuscule space you've left( obviously depending on how much space there is behind the silver one).

Ohh sorry I didn’t get that Blush

It’s fine.

LadyJaneEarlGreyTea · 18/09/2025 12:20

Did you have no choice but to park that close or were you trying to make a point to the silver car?

HeddaGarbled · 18/09/2025 12:20

I think it’s too close.

Seawolves · 18/09/2025 12:21

Impossible to say without seeing how much room there is behind to reverse in to.

ThingsgetbetterwithalittlebitofRazzmatazz · 18/09/2025 12:21

Looks fine to me, if anything the silver car shouldn't have parked overhanging the entrance to your son's parking space.

Iheartmysmart · 18/09/2025 12:22

I’d probably struggle a bit, my car doesn’t have power steering or parking sensors. Plus I’m very short and can’t see over the bonnet. I would be a bit pissed off with you for making life difficult and swear at you under my breath.

Imhereagainseriously · 18/09/2025 12:23

How can anyone judge without seeing how much space behind. 🤔 And the sequence if events parking wise who parked first etc.

SoftPillow · 18/09/2025 12:25

Without seeing the whole space it’s hard to say, but it does seem rather close.

If I were in the silver car I would be peeved and assuming there wasn’t much space behind I would have to do a multiple point manoeuvre to get out. If you had the option to leave more room I would consider that selfish parking.
