Driving today and 'Endless Love' plays on the radio, I immediately think of Chandler Bing and Phoebe duetting in Friends.

This Woman’s Work in the Handmaids Tale, first episode of series 2.
I don’t usually remember scenes so clearly but that has stayed with me!

I came to say the same

Did you eat my body butter?
No!
"I schmeared it on a bagel"

Tried to spell it how he said it.

Haven't RTFD but Scarlet Ribbons and the scenes where Nana is dying in the Royle Family. So lovely and so sad.

Too late to apologise by One Republic will forever remind me of the Hills when Spencer and Heidi are driving home after the argument with Lauren at the club

Apollonia1 · 17/09/2025 20:49

Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana at the final of The Godfather Part III

QueenAstrid · 17/09/2025 20:49

Middlemarch123 · 17/09/2025 20:51

Yes to all the Gavin and Stacey songs.
Mine is any song by Nick Cave and the Lightning Seeds…Tommy Shelby, Red Right Hand, always.

MrsHaroldRobbins · 17/09/2025 21:02

Place your hands in This Life when Egg is cooking
Cheryl Lynn Got To Be Real when Carrie falls on the catwalk in SATC
Mazzy Star Fade into you in the OC - I think when Ryan and Marisa get together
Bee Gees More Than a Woman in The Office when Neil and Tim’s girlfriend do a charity dance
Aretha Franklin RESPECT in Bridget Jones when Bridget tells Daniel to shove his job

Will think of more!

AustralianCrunch · 17/09/2025 21:03

All my tears by Ane Brun (Peaky Blinders)
Nights in White satin (Heartbeat)
Waiting for my real life to begin (Scrubs)

I can’t believe none of you West Wing fans have mentioned The Jackal!

The Handmaid’s Tale used music so so well but This Woman’s Work was a stand out scene.

On a completely different tack, Ghost Town by The Specials will forever remind me of Father Ted (please stand for the national anthem).

And it might be a bit off topic, but there’s some music I’ve discovered through TV shows. Scrubs had a couple by Colin James Hay. He was in a couple of episodes, and in another they all sing one of his songs when JD’s favourite patient dies (Waiting For My Life to Begin). More recently, the Alabama Shakes song that plays over the last scene in Fleabag, and the Francis and the Lights song that plays over the first kiss in Nobody Wants This.

Be My Baby, The Ronettes. When David and Maddie got together in Moonlighting.
I Think we’re Alone Now. Tiffany. The dance sequence in Umbrella Academy.
Oasis, Half the World Away.Royce Family and lovely lovely Caroline Aherne.
Practically everything ever performed in Pitch Perfect but especially everything connected to Snoop Dogg’s Christmas album. ‘Groovy Like a drive in movie’ 😂

GellerYeller · 17/09/2025 21:08

Oh and speaking of Scrubs, A Little Respect. I think they used the Wheatus cover version?

AngelofIslington · 17/09/2025 21:11

Love is in the Air always reminds me of the final scene in This Life when Milly smacks Rachel

So many from Gavin & Stacey.

Smithy and Rudi rapping to American Boy.
Suddenly - Dave and Nessa's wedding.
Step Into Christmas
Do They Know it's Christmas "Doom, it's doom!"
(Something Inside) So Strong

And obviously Islands in the Stream from the barn dance episode!

That’s a good one.

elQuintoConyo · 17/09/2025 21:14

My Weakness by Moby, in the X-Files episode when they find lots of children's graves and the ghosts of children rise up <sobs>

britespark1 · 17/09/2025 21:19

Definitely agree with the Buffy ones. I loved Michelle Branch’s Goodbye to You and bawl like a baby during that episode in S6. And Full of Grace will only ever be associated with the end of Season 2.

Arran2024 · 17/09/2025 21:19

Mambo No 5, in the Royle Family, where Jim and his mate are scraping the wall paper. Classic

Theawkwardturtle · 17/09/2025 21:22

Downtown Train, the station scene where Ted first sees the mother in How I Met Your Mother

Lacking the emotional resonance of some of these, but Here Comes the Hotstepper and Car Share. We all sing the alternative lyrics in this house.

Have you watched the out-takes reel of that scene? I actually cry with laughter every time I watch it 🤣🤣🤣
