Driving today and 'Endless Love' plays on the radio, I immediately think of Chandler Bing and Phoebe duetting in Friends.

OP posts:

The version of ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’ playing in the scene when Mark Greene died in E.R.
‘Unchained melody’ sung by Robson and Jerome at the wedding reception, when Tucker’s wife Donna was seeing another man.

Crying by Roy Orbison....I just think of Raquel and Tony singing it only fools and horses

Same here 😂😂

Boiledbeetle · 17/09/2025 18:14

"Maybe Tomorrow" by Terry Bush the theme tune to The Littlest Hobo

Turning the Town Red by Elvis Costello theme tune to Scully.

Should add I never can remember songs from particular scenes, it's just theme tunes that stick with me.

Suddeny - Angry Anderson. Charlene and Scott’s wedding in Neighbours. I can replay the whole thing in my head shot by shot when I hear the song!

Throw Your Arms Around Me - Hunters & Collectors. When Shane died in Home and Away.

Over the Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. When Mark died in ER.

Theme from Harry’s Game - Clannad. From Harry’s Game. I was too young to watch the series but I did and it really haunted me.

From films rather than TV,
Cuddly Toy - Roachford. From the opening of Alpha Papa (Alan Partridge).

Hold On - Wilson Phillips. From Bridesmaids.

Both from The Sopranos:

Boston - More than a Feeling, when Tony Soprano has a funny turn at the golf club and dramatically collapses

Foreigner - Don't Stop Believin, in the closing final scene of the entire series. Perfection.

Edited

That was going to be mine, too! Can’t hear Don’t Stop Believing without thinking of the final Sopranos episode.

Streetlife always makes me think of Saul Goodman selling mobile phones in Better Call Saul.

OccasionalHope · 17/09/2025 18:31

Michelle Branch, Goodbye to You, in Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6,

BeaLola · 17/09/2025 18:42

September, Earth Wind & Fire - The Mentalist finale wedding of Jane & Lisburn

Out of Reach, Gabrielle - Bridget Jones Diary

God Only Knows, The Beach Boys - Love Actually at credits and from the same film at the beginning during the funeral The Bay City Rollers - Bye Bye Baby

SophieSoftly · 17/09/2025 18:44

Seconding Don’t Look Back in Anger from Our Friends in the North (and also All Or Nothing by the Small Faces from one of the Sixties episodes).

Loads from The Sopranos, including Tiny Tears by the Tindersticks. I also love Christopher quoting Born to Run as an excuse for being late - “the highway was jammed with broken dreamers on a last-chance power drive.”

And Holding Back the Years from Rodney & Cassandra’s wedding reception in Only Fools.

RedRiverHog · 17/09/2025 19:02

The Night we Met by Lord Huron makes me think of 13 Reasons Why.

ItsFineReally · 17/09/2025 19:09

@FadedRed The version of ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’ playing in the scene when Mark Greene died in E.R.

I was just coming on to say this.

With Or Without You reminds me of Ross & Rachel (we were on a break)

Only You by Yazoo, playing when Dawn comes back for Tim 😍

Was just about to say the Office for Yazoo. I adored that scene.

With or Without you I associate with Young Offenders when they visit Jocks mums grave. Funny in such an uncomfortable way 😁

MissBridgetJones · 17/09/2025 19:21

It must have been love: Roxette: Pretty woman

Can't take my eyes off of you - Ten things I hate about you

So many from Gavin & Stacey.

Smithy and Rudi rapping to American Boy.
Suddenly - Dave and Nessa's wedding.
Step Into Christmas
Do They Know it's Christmas "Doom, it's doom!"
(Something Inside) So Strong

God yes to Gavin and Stacey! Also so many songs I used to love get murderer by Uncle Bryn!

Or by Alan Partridge . I used to love Cuddly Toy but now just think of him 😂

Onefortheroad25 · 17/09/2025 19:23

The whole of the moon in The Affair.

Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley and Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits from the West Wing.

The much parodied Imogen Heap Hide and Seek scene in the OC.

I came on to say the Imogen Heaps song which for me, originally reminded me of the ridiculous OC scene but I’ve watch the SNL parody so many times now that it reminds me of this more!

Agree with the love actually ones!

Young hearts run free- Mercutio singing on the stairs in Romeo and Juliet 💕

GenerateNewUsername · 17/09/2025 19:34

For me, it’s also got to be Don’t Stop Believing for the final scene of the sopranos. I remember watching it live and genuinely thinking my tv had glitched at the end

Sherwil16 · 17/09/2025 19:36

'I'm in the mood for dancing' in 'River' before we knew that River was imagining dancing with Nicola Walker's character who was dead.

JackJarvisEsq · 17/09/2025 19:39

The Stripper will always make me think of Morcambe and Wise larking about with sausages

Latenightreader · 17/09/2025 19:40

Mine were pretty much all from the West Wing (I listened to Brothers in Arms on repeat tor months after Two Cathedrals aired). I would add Blame it on the Bosanova, which will always be Ainsley Hayes dancing in her office in a dressing gown.

Heart and Soul is Niles and Daphne cooking together in Frasier.

LittleGreenDuck · 17/09/2025 19:41

Bye Bye Baby, Bay City Rollers - Love Actually.

TeamLoganHuntzberger · 17/09/2025 19:41

Bury a Friend by Billie Eilish in the season 5 finale of the Handmaids Tale on the Train. All I see when I hear that is this scene and it gives me chills.

On a happy note, There She Goes from the Pilot/Episode 1 of Gilmore Girls which is my soul happy show 🍂☕️

And “ Oh Girl” by , I think, The Chilites when Tony is consumed with rage by another man seeing his Russian girlfriend

Viva La Vida by Coldplay at the end of Suits
