Driving today and 'Endless Love' plays on the radio, I immediately think of Chandler Bing and Phoebe duetting in Friends.

It is so good ... the music the fashion were right up my street but equally so unbelievable is this day and age to know that was deemed acceptable years ago (70s baby myself) . Ritchies mother wasnt a very nice person in the show but how she let him die alone without his friends and to think they had come to visit him and for jill to be told so matter of factly he was dead...

To quote a line in the show.. everyone needs a jill in their life

What a friend she was

I absolutely loved It's A Sin.
The music was great, but playing Everybody Hurts over the final end credits fell flat (not least because of how hackneyed that song has become).
I think they missed a trick there.
Pet Shop Boys' Being Boring would have worked really well.

Afternoon Delight

Arrested Development and the dawning realisation of how very inappropriate it is!

MercyChant66 · 18/09/2025 13:29

Simply Red's 'Stars' in the film Jack and Sarah.
Andy Williams' 'Happy Heart' at the end of Shallow Grave.
Liza Minnelli singling 'Single Ladies' at Stamford's wedding in SATC 2.
'All By Myself' in Bridget Jones.
The schoolgirl singling Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas' in Love Actually (mainly because that was the first time I heard that song - if you can believe that - as it's now unavoidable from November onwards)!

Simply Red ‘If you don’t know me by now’ was playing in Eastenders when Kathy was crying after she was raped by Wilmott Brown. That one has been stuck in my head for 30 odd years.

Don Henley's New York Minute in Friends- the scene in hospital when Marcel the monkey grabs Ross' finger.

Weirdly moving! And I love that song.

Same here. It’s a great song too.

Also Sex and the City with Carrie and Stanford at the prom soundtracked by Chicago’s If you Leave Me Now.

For Scrubs fans, the episode of The Middle(featuring the actor who played The Janitor in Scrubs), where they literally played The Middle by Jimmy Eats World.

Taking You Home - Don Henley - ER - Carol meets Doug at the dock.

New York Minute - Don Henley - The West Wing - Sam asleep on the couch in Toby's office as the dawn filters in.

Time in a Bottle - Jim Croce - Heartbeat - the episode when Kate dies.

Edited

God yes ..the Heartbeat episode led me to that beautiful song

Shookethh · 18/09/2025 21:28

“Goodbye Toby it’s been nice…” The Office
”I’m a freak…I’m a weirdo…what the hell am I doing here” Superstore

And, I think from the same episode, there was The Joker by the Steve Miller Band.

Cuddly Toy. Every time I hear it I say “There’s no fog”

That song to me will always be Rick Moranis in Parenthood.

katiecustard2 · 20/09/2025 01:34

There’s a song in 13 Reasons Why when Clay and Hannah are dancing at their prom. I think it goes something like ‘I had all of you, most of you, some and then none of you…take me back to the night we met.’

That was very powerful in the context of the series although I’ve never heard it since and couldn’t tell you who sung it.

LuckyManifestations · 20/09/2025 02:07

Waterfalls always makes me think of the film 'We're the Millers'

Sounds like the night we met by lord Huron

OneMoreProfiterole · 13/12/2025 16:20

Will and Grace singing Midnight Train to Georgia with Sandra Bernhardt.

Neil the Baby singing Blackbird at Nessa and Smithy’s wedding.

Got to be real by Cheryl Lynn when Carrie falls over on the runway.

I was in Sainsbury’s the other day and “Step Into Christmas” came on. I actually sniggered out loud as it reminded me of the scene from Gavin and Stacey!
