A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

That's quite scary to read.

BlackRock will privatise Britain – our housing, education, health, nature and green energy – with our taxpayer money as sweetener.

Look behind Blackstone’s returns – which come from rents and rising house prices – and you will find the state’s footprint. The government has helped to guarantee and derisk these returns through regulations that favour asset owners over renters, through economic policies that support house price inflation and through the provision of income support – such as housing benefit –

The Mooch has always said that Trump wears tons of make up, so that’s the source of the Orange.

Voting intention by schooling with a surprising outcome. Or at least, I think it is.

I'm surprised too, particularly the private schoolers going for Labour.

I know, I'm trying hard not to write a sentence about turkeys and Christmas.

It looks like an error to be honest.

I’m not surprised. Loads of the kids and parents’ at our private school are Labour supporters. I can see why idealistic children would vote Labour. Like I did 🤷‍♀️. It’s why Starmer wants the younger voting age. Not that that will help him much now. Probably a London-centric survey.

It does, but it was posted on twitter by Luke Tryl who is head honcho at more in common.

Itcantbetrue · 17/09/2025 20:49

So most of the young want reform ??

The private school aspect doesn't surprise me.

It's the schooling of the adults questioned, rather than the children.

Itcantbetrue · 17/09/2025 20:55

The state dinner and visit is mnd blowing.
I think we are doing ourselves proud here.
Hopefully trump will be like putty tomorrow and this will energise him enough to get through hours with starmer tomorrow .

Itcantbetrue · 17/09/2025 20:56

Itcantbetrue · 17/09/2025 21:10

Yes and yes. 💰 💰 💰

Although most immigrants are by far ‘students’ who after ‘studying’ change their visa type. And bring family over too. That surely can’t be hard to stop.

I mean Labour are hoist by their own petard - by losing furure supporters - not the prior students being hoist. Just realised that could read either way, sorry!

(eta: I don't think Labour's shite falls on people who went to private school more than others - they harm all successful, responsible people, and that's not down to the school someone attended)

To me, it does make sense that private school alumni would support a political party which claims to help the more vulnerable in society - because private schools actively teach social responsibility. It is a bitter irony that Labour are trying to destroy the very sector which most actively teaches the values they claim to believe in.

But most people over time gain enough economic understanding to question whether that self-proclaimed goodness actually translates into good outcomes for society. I decided a long time ago that it doesn't, even when it's well-meaning - as most of us believed it was during Blair's time - let alone with this current, vindictive shower.

It all depends who they polled though doesn't it. Remember these will be ex-independent school pupils, many of whom now use state schools for their own children.
It doesn't represent parents who currently use independent schools for their children.
