Just that, really. How long did it take from the first grays to being fully gray?

I'm 52 and probably less than 10% grey. Spotted my first grey hair mid 40s. Same aged husband has been grey for years though.

KelsCommemorativeSausage · 15/09/2025 19:18

Early 20s. It runs in the family. I was completely white by mid 30s.

TheWiseAmethyst · 15/09/2025 19:18

I had an inexplicable mallen type streak appear in my twenties. The rest has greyed gradually from 40s onwards.

OverlyFragrant · 15/09/2025 19:18

Noticed my first grey aged 24.
11 years later and I'd say I'm roughly 20% grey.

PrincessC0nsuelaBananaHammock · 15/09/2025 19:18

Late 20s. I'm 47 now, and my roots are completely white, to the point I'm having to redo them every 2 weeks.

BananaSquiggle · 15/09/2025 19:19

I started spotting greys when I was in my early 20s. Early 40s now and mostly but not entirely grey (if I didn’t dye it).

TobiasForgesContactLense · 15/09/2025 19:21

I am 49 and just a bit grey at the temples. Only noticed first grey hair a couple of years ago.

DH is bald but his beard is now almost completely grey at 57. First greys came through for him in his early 40's so it has taken a while.

Mrscharlieeeee · 15/09/2025 19:23

I’m 42 and think I’d be fully grey if I didn’t dye my hair. My roots come through something terrible. I’m far from ready to embrace the grey so plan on continuing to colour my hair for many years to come.

muddyford · 15/09/2025 19:26

First grey threads at my temples in my mid-teens when I had brown hair. Now early 60s and I have gone blonde and not grey. Very strange!

AliDia · 15/09/2025 19:27

53 and zero grey yet.

HaughtyAndCold · 15/09/2025 19:28

I’m 57 and I’m pretty much white.

first steady greys from 30s onwards. Gave up dying it about 10 years ago.

Letshavetea1 · 15/09/2025 19:29

I’m 70. Some gray now, but not as much as you’d think. I have subtle (and expensive blond highlights). Not ready to embrace gray at all! I do have a really fab hairdresser.

ExquisitelyDecorating · 15/09/2025 19:30

Ist grey at 30 and I've still only got a few in my late 50s, I have dark hair and use a colour conditioner to blend them in a bit.

DrDisrespect · 15/09/2025 19:32

Started noticing grey hairs at about 13. Im 38 now and im probably about 60% grey?

Nextdoormat · 15/09/2025 19:34

60 a few stray grey hairs but I would have to point them out to you. Grey doesn't run in my family.

Glitter0 · 15/09/2025 19:34

43 and just noticed a couple of greys recently.

MardyAnn · 15/09/2025 19:36

I started seeing white hairs in my teens but now at almost 45 I’d say I’m still only about 5% grey/white.

SleepingisanArt · 15/09/2025 19:39

Almost 60 and only have a few greys starting to appear....

CMOTDibbler · 15/09/2025 19:45

I saw my first grey at 19, by 28 it was too much of a very defined grey streak to cover with semi/demi colour and I started on permanent colour till 38 when I stopped dying and was pure white round my face, grey elsewhere. 53 and pure white now

Finteq · 15/09/2025 19:47

First gray when I was 16

At 41 prob around 5% gray.

It only really changed after second child.
Pretty much the week after having her I had a white stripe. Not much more since then

Think if I didn't have her wouldn't have changed til later.

I’m exactly the same. Same age and 20% of my hair is grey. According to this thread we are unsual 🤣 I honestly thought most women had 50% of grey when they reached 40 are you other ladies just dying your hair so you don’t see them

clockandstagger · 15/09/2025 19:50

I am 48 and about 10% grey my first grey was at 19. My mum was fully grey by her 40th birthday and my Dad was about the same. My brother is 2 years younger than me and about 75% grey at this point.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 15/09/2025 19:50

Oh, I thought this was going to about window frames and carpets!

And I was going to say I haven't and I won't!

girljulian · 15/09/2025 19:51

No greys yet but my friends similar age are maybe 25% grey (late thirties). My mother (65) is still only about 20% grey; my dad (69) maybe 30% grey so it'll be genetic.

OrchidFan · 15/09/2025 19:52

Pubes - late 20s
head - a few appearing at 42
