Why was it mostly men on the march?

noblegiraffe · 14/09/2025 09:48

I've seen quite a few photos of the march yesterday, and they pretty much all look like the one below. Vast majority men. Why is that? Why is Robinson's patriot messaging and call-to-action landing mostly with men and not women?

Voting by sex wasn't massively different in the last general election - men were certainly more likely to vote Reform, but not by a huge amount, so generally politically we're not that different.

Ah, the old lefty tactic or 'I don't like something you said, so you must be a liar'. Feel free to visit Rotheram yourself and report back if you don't believe me. Or any other city with a sizeable Pakistani population.

”Old Lefty Tactic” oh you’re one of those…

Come on the Rotherham story is clearly…”embellished”.

If all these young girls were being assaulted and “treated like meat” in your full view did you at least notify authorities?

For the Yaxley-Lennon/Robinson supporters including @CupOTeaFather

This is your hero's record:
Convicted for…- assaulting an officer in 2005
- assault at a neo-Nazi rally in 2011
- football hooliganism in 2011
- using a false passport in 2013
- mortgage fraud in 2014
- contempt of court in 2019
- stalking a woman in 2021
- libel in 2024

What a patriot! What a role model for your children!

He's not my hero, I don't agree with everything he says or does, but on many issues he speaks a lot of sense is all.

Nelson Mandela and Ghandi were also convicted criminals.

Being convicted of threatening to overthrow a government isn't quite the same as being a scummy stalker though is it.

I wonder what the person calling for Starmer to be assassinated thinks of the recent murder of Charlie Kirk and whether they respected the minute’s silence….

anniegun · 14/09/2025 12:13

Women are generally sensible enough to see Tommy Robinson as a mysoginistic right wing thug

Ah, so this is the outing hobby a lot of MNers husbands have that keeps them busy at weekends.

😂

TizerorFizz · 14/09/2025 12:16

I think we know some women would demonstrate about this and bring dc too! I could see some women on tv footage. I agree, not many though. It’s a certain type of man thing isn’t it. Tommy Robinson and his types. When interviewed people were demonstrating against immigration but “free speech” gets caught up in it. I just hope these people aren’t a majority. Heaven help us.

Imagine comparing a conviction for fighting to overthrow a despotic regime to convictions for fraud and football hooliganism….

Sadly not, just what we saw when we went out to eat in the evening (it was an overnight stay). But if it makes you feel better, stick your fingers in your ears and sing la-la-la!

vickylou78 · 14/09/2025 12:17

Because women aren't racist thugs in general. It's mental 'willy waggling' and basically saying get off my land..

But I say this as a fan of men. I'm happily married to a lovely man but thankfully he is well educated and isn't a thug who wants to drink, riot and attack police officers.

Well that is what you did, instead of doing something to help the girls you saw.

You should be ashamed.

Because there was a very high risk of it turning violent and most women have more sense than to put themselves in danger, and judging by the photos and video clips I have seen on social media, it looked like a load of football hooligans using it as a chance to behave like thugs.

Except that didn’t happen.

Replace Mosley with Farage and it’s 1930’s Britain and the Blackshirts all over again! 😱

Do you seriously think that what happened at Rotherham has been embellished? I watched the documentary on it and those poor girls who weren't believed. Even as adults you could see how traumatised they still were.

That's a disgusting thing to say.

Helpel · 14/09/2025 12:22

Because men don’t want to face the fact that they, as a sex, are the problem. Not immigrants, but men. Whether they are white British, or off the boat Afghanistanians. The ‘group’ that are committing violent crimes and rapes are males. It’s easier to focus on the immigrants than themselves.

Winter2020 · 14/09/2025 12:26

AP2024 · 14/09/2025 11:51

I just want to ask a question please to the people here saying they went to the march. I’ll start by saying I do understand having pride in your country (I do too). I also understand having concerns about immigration and the impact on the UK. But what I can’t get my head round is why you would go to a march led and organised by Tommy Robinson and supported by Katie Hopkins when both have undeniably racist and bigoted views. I suppose I’m trying to understand how you can give your support in a very public, visible way to people like that? They are people who divide communities, spread hate and make minorities feel threatened and fearful.

And that will have dampened the numbers immensely.

If there was a figurehead that represented "I have been proud to live and work with my immigrant friends, neighbours and colleagues for decades but the rate of immigration has now become too much, no-one is listening to the concerns of the ordinary British (including immigrant British from all nations) and we don't have the infrastructure for more people" then many many more would have attended.

But we have the ballot box for that. I expect voting in future will show that women stayed away in case there was violence but still want immigration brought right down.

I don't think the poster was saying that the "whole" Rotherham story (as in the sexual assaults and rape gangs news story) was embellished. They were talking about a particular poster's claims of a specific visit to Rotherham.

The mask slips 😂
I see others have addressed the Mandela/Gandhi reference.
You have tried to.encourage people to watch your 'hero'. A convicted criminal who doesn't even know his own name. It would be funny if not so serious.

zingally · 14/09/2025 12:29

I had a good look at that photo. Could definitely see at least 6 women, maybe 7. Out of what? 200?
Unfortunately, these are just the same blokes who have always protested against anyone not exactly like them.

What are they all so scared off? An immigrant coming and taking their minimum wage job? Well, if that immigrant works harder, is polite to their boss and customers, has a higher level of literacy and numeracy, has better people skills, takes care of their personal hygiene, isn't carrying an armful of petty criminal convictions, and has better qualifications - then yes, they should be worried.

Needlenardlenoo · 14/09/2025 12:30

The Venn diagram would no doubt show significant overlap between "men wishing to go on protest", "men who are single or divorced" and "men who aren't arsed to look after their children of a Saturday"?

This is it isn’t it. There’s a scale between both sides, most people sit between the two, not at the far end.
the extremes on both side shouting insults at anyone not on the extremes shuts down any meaningful conversation about issues.

Catwalking · 14/09/2025 12:30

Because they are essentially thugs.

I drove past a pub in Woolwich / Greenwich (The Angerstein Hotel, I think) absolutely teeming with them yesterday evening . Hundreds of them all dressed in black, all men, Police riot vans across the road.

They just get reincarnated: skinheads, football hooligans, ‘protecting the cenotaph’ and now apparently uniting the Kingdom.

And the fact that they are all men should in itself raise questions.

I am not saying that women don’t hold far right / anti immigration views but this is thugs jumping in a bandwagon.

It’s not to do with childcare

Childcare doesn’t stop the Palestine marches week after week, where women are prominent.

100’s sounds like a small proportion of the total no’s.
But obvs, there will always be males (of any nationality,) take the opportunity to indulge their hormonal violence. We have to admit we are ALL animals.

darklady64 · 14/09/2025 12:31

RonnyRite · 14/09/2025 10:02

I was there. True there were mostly men but there were all ages of women too. My experience of it was peaceful, happy and humorous. We didn't experience any anger and people were all really polite (it was difficult trying to navigate through the crowds but people did stop and make space).

Only bit I didn't feel comfortable with was leaving at the end. We had been up near the front screen/stage and there was lots of room there but as we left it was very packed at the furthest away part and too many people crammed in. I felt a bit claustrophobic at that point.

We didn't see any trouble at all.

OK, for balance, I was at the other march. As we passed along the Strand to go to Whitehall for the speakers, many men had waited along the road for our march to pass. I was told "I hope you get cancer and die, you cunt." Among other gems. But even though these men walked alongside us, spouting abuse, it was OK and we all passed into our end of Whitehall fine. And freedom of speech, right? Then a bunch from the other march tried to get into "our" end of Whitehall down the side streets, and stood shouting and screaming abuse for a while before they got bored and wandered off. But that didn't feel "peaceful, happy and humorous". As I was leaving, I couldn't get near Charing Cross or Waterloo as it had all been blocked off by large numbers of flag waving folk who had left their demonstration to walk quite a way up towards ours, and it were, shall we say, a little bit confrontational. So much so that as I was coming across the front of the National Gallery, there were police in helmets running down towards the Strand.

But in answer to the original question, I saw some women there, and even a few families with all the kids. And on the way home I shared trains with lots of flag-wearing groups who were all ecstatic at how their day had gone. But again, I wouldn't call what they were shouting and singing exactly peaceful or humorous.

I have never felt threatened in my home city before, not anywhere, and yesterday I did. Make of that what you will.
