A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

There are still Labour supporters on MN who are trotting out the "everything is fine" line with their fingers in their ears.
They refuse to acknowledge the state the economy + country is in and feel that the issues with Starmer are "sensationalism"

Although the Starmer thread is rather quiet this morning…

And they are still wanging on about 'but the Tories'.

TheNuthatch · 14/09/2025 09:31

Exactly. Not to mention the added cost of more people relying on state support due to lack of jobs.
I was listening to a union bod on the radio the other day trying to justify the tube strikes. He was explaining how £72k wasn't a good salary, and that shifts at short notice, working weekends etc were damaging to the drivers health. 🙄

They don't live in the real world do they? They have no idea that this is life in the private sector. Extra shifts, changes without consultation, it all happens and people are too concerned with keeping their job to worry about it. Yet apparently if you work in the public sector bubble you get to dictate your terms and conditions and can move the goalposts at will.

I doubt they will learn from it, they don't seem particularly bothered by the consequences of their actions so far.
We can hope.

No, they don't, because so far the people who've suffered are the ones they consider rich fuckers whose only role, in the minds of this socialist rabble, is to be bled dry. They seemingly have no understanding for the fact that people don't work to pay taxes, they work to enrich themselves, and you have to allow them to do that, while taxing them fairly. That way, everyone wins.

But this bunch of sneering, chippy, bitter and envious incompetents thinks they can bleed everyone dry and they'll just take it. Well, they won't. Those that can leave have already done so or are in the process of doing so - and now we see businesses doing the same. Wealth is haemorrhaging from these shores and has been since last July. https://www.cityam.com/businesses-flee-rachel-reeves-high-taxes/

Week in Business: Businesses flee high-tax Britain

On the same day that Reeves said "there's no growth without investment", a pharma giant pulled its £1bn London investment plans.

Let's see what this week brings, the last few have been a roller coaster!

Interestingly BP is now starting to get the scrutiny I had hoped she would and lots of her constituents are starting to speak up to debunk her identify politics, virtue signalling pieces of propoganda on Facebook + X.

I live near her constituency and she is not well liked and protected to lose her seat to Reform.

That's interesting. What are they saying @twistyizzy? In the absence of a GE though, we're still likely to be stuck with her until the next one. And tbh the thought of another Reform MP does little to warm the cockles of my heart, since in govt they're likely be every bit as incompetent as bloody Labour.

Facts:

  • where she was brought up wasn't a deprived area when she was young. In fact it was upper WC/MC. It wasn't Byker or Walker which were indeed very deprived areas during that period
  • she went to the best school in the area ie Catholic all girls school

So all the "council street" nonsense whatever the fuck that is ie an adopted street? Which 99% of streets are in UK? She might not have been living in luxury but she certainly wasn't from a deprived background.
She came from a family who valued education, with involved grandparents & a mother who exposed her to politics from a young age.
She then got a nepo job at her mum's charity and from there was shoehorned into Kemp's safe Labour seat.

I've already put the popcorn button on mine on notice. I really do fear it may not survive both Trump and the Labour party conference. Beers ordered and I may even need a glass or two of Gin.🤣🤣

So very, very true.

Chaos and ineptitude are a thing of the past with this grown-up government. What a workmanlike, honest and smart administration we now have.
