Just musing on this as I recently told people I was taking a day off to attend my daughter's graduation and they assumed I meant from nursery 😂

I'm mid-forties and my children are 21 and 17.

I was like you. By the time I was in my mid forties both DC were at uni. DS is 50 and had a youngest is only 14. It was great to be relatively young and free of childcare . All DSs friends have even younger children.

I know people in their mid-40s with anything from newborns, preschoolers, primary school, teenagers and adult children! Don’t know any grandparents in their 40s afaik but my cousin’s 43 and her kids are 25 and 23 so it wouldn’t be the wildest thing. 40s is the most versatile age!

80smonster · 08/09/2025 22:36

44 (45 in 3 months), we have an 8 year old.

basinbasin · 08/09/2025 22:39

@Deadringer that makes sense thinking about it.

Bufftailed · 08/09/2025 22:40

47, DC is 16

Tarkan · 08/09/2025 22:43

I’m 44 and DC are 21 and 17. I have friends just a little younger than me who have toddlers though and others with kids older than mine and some have grandchildren now too.

It’s a weird age to be in that way. I also know someone who had a baby just a few months before her eldest daughter made her a grandmother.

mildlysweaty · 08/09/2025 22:46
