How did you celebrate your 10 year wedding anniversary?

I’ve seen people (normally the insta gram types or celebs) do vow renewals which look like full blown weddings and have friends who marked the occasion by going to the pub or for a nice meal. Others got divorced 😂 Ours is looming and I’m interested to know how people celebrated (or didn’t!)

We are going on safari later this year

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 08/09/2025 20:00

I don't even remember? It was 5 years ago.

BuddyGiveOver · 08/09/2025 20:01

We had no childcare, so we took the kids to soft play and then went on a boat ride on the river. We almost never have a babysitter around! Will probably nect celebrate just the two of us when the children are 15+

Had a Chinese

Nothing! We never do. As long as they keep coming we’re happy. But the hats just us.

Verywindyday · 08/09/2025 20:02

We went to St Lucia and flew back to the airport by helicopter.
Once in a lifetime holiday for us.

RoundRedRobin · 08/09/2025 20:04

We were going to just go out for a meal but friends threw us a surprise anniversary party which was great.

Then for our 20th we just had a meal out…we might have a party for our 30th if we get around to organising something 😁

mynameiscalypso · 08/09/2025 20:05

We’re going to New York with DS(6) for a long weekend.

00deed1988 · 08/09/2025 20:08

We booked 2 nights near a racetrack, went to watch horseracing, went for a nice meal both nights, got very drunk 1 night. Had a great time. Our anniversary is on the 5th, my birthday is the 6th and his on the 7th so it was nice to do something for all of them! We don't every year!

Mumof1andacat · 08/09/2025 20:09

We had a long weekend away to Dorset. Parents had DS for us.

Mutability · 08/09/2025 20:10

We went to Paris. I think vow renewals are weird; they don’t expire.

HeddaGarbled · 08/09/2025 20:12

We had an M&S meal deal at home. Bloody lovely, it was.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 08/09/2025 20:13

Had dinner out and dh gave me a Cartier Santos watch.

Jumungo · 08/09/2025 20:14

We were planning a lunch at our favourite pub. Then had to cancel the booking as contractions started in the morning and DD was born that very evening - a week early. So we'll be celebrating with a birthday cake every year from now on!

CoastalCalm · 08/09/2025 20:15

We were in a holiday cottage for a between Christmas and New Year break like every year

whatwasthatnoise · 08/09/2025 20:16

We left the kids with family and had a night away at a nice hotel. Good food, plenty wine and the chance of a long lie 😂 I remember there being some lovely looking breakfast options, none of them fitted with my food allergy needs.

oceanaus · 08/09/2025 20:17

Loving the replies and all the different ways in which people have celebrated 😀 thank you for sharing

We had a long weekend away in a beautiful hotel on the west coast of Scotland.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 08/09/2025 20:19

Looking back at texts etc to check as I couldn’t remember…. it appears we were both ill and didn’t celebrate.

It tends to vary year on year depending on money, childcare availability, work, health etc etc.

Our 9th anniversary we had a weekend in Cornwall while GPs looked after kids. This year was 11 years and we went for dinner at our local pub.

Next year we’re planning a European city break as GPs have offered a few days of childcare which is amazing.

25th is one you can definitely use as an excuse for a party! I think it's called your silver wedding anniversary (I've attended one and waitressed at another vey fancy one)

Itchyfeetkeepmemoving · 08/09/2025 20:24

No idea, kids would have been little, so nothing I suspect.

20 years soon so perhaps we might do something this time!

Ponderingwindow · 08/09/2025 20:25

We left dd with the grandparents for a night and checked into a local hotel.

cupfinalchaos · 08/09/2025 20:27

Dh took me to Claridges for weekend with theatre.

NatalieH2220 · 08/09/2025 20:30

We had our first night away since having 2 children. Just went to the nearest city for the weekend so nothing major but was a treat for us a child free time is rare!

GreenAndWhiteStripes · 08/09/2025 20:32

My parents looked after the kids and we had a night away in the same hotel that we stayed in for our wedding night.
