Ohhh it's like a plot for midsommer murders 😆

I fancy myself as a miss Marple figure crossed with Hitchcock Rear Window...cos I don't get out much. Retirement goals!

Keep us posted..get sleuthing 😉

@littlebilliie that is so tough. Hope you can get a bit of rest tonight.

FurForksSake · 16/10/2025 18:47

sending restful vibes, lots of hard days.

Stressybetty · 16/10/2025 19:13

Finished cleaning the en suite! Picture to cheer you all up, smell of poo not included.

What are you up to today if you have chronic illness part 2?
FurForksSake · 16/10/2025 19:25

How many litters is that? They are gorgeous!

Honestly @Stressybetty you tease! I was expecting a photo of your lovely clean ensuite!

Oh but the puppies are lovely I'm sure they smell fine!

Orangesandlemons77 · 16/10/2025 19:34

Made it to the pilates class today and the online shopping came this morning, so that is it for today, have a fire lit and the TV on

FurForksSake · 16/10/2025 19:40

Sounds great @Orangesandlemons77 fire would be perfect.

i managed to get the dressings off ds12 back. He screamed a lot. I’ve recovered it but not taped it. He’s had a bag of popcorn and some chocolate milk and now we are watching crash detectives. So he’ll be ok.

2 litters, born 4 days apart. 9 in each litter!

Tiredandwired2 · 16/10/2025 21:33

@Hotbeveragepleasethe Merlin app sounds great, I will look into that. Right up my street.

@StressybettyI don't know how your doing it all. Working and two litter of puppies. You deserve a medal. The puppies are so cute!

@littlebilliieI hope your ok after the chemo

Day started off well for me. Little browse of the charity shop. Came home hoping to do a little bit of housework and rest for the day but been managing my daughters worsening mental health. I'm not 100% sure but I think she may have OCD which is crippling her (and me). I'm cracking under the strain.

Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

TeaAndStrumpets · 17/10/2025 08:31

Good morning all!
Despite barely moving a muscle yesterday I slept right through so guess my body needs it.
I am going to find a few things I've jotted on backs of envelopes and file them properly so I can find them. The trouble with being marooned on the sofa is the debris around me just builds up....I do loads of research for something, jot it down, lose it. Things don't stay in my foggy brain very long.

I loaned DH my kindle so have hauled in my unread pile of books to work through. I always ask for books for birthday, Christmas. Used to get perfume, too sensitive to it now, sadly.

I am reading a fascinating book on women's costume history, specifically tie on pockets which women wore under their skirts, accessed by slits in the seams. The authors have trawled through court cases, laundry lists, trousseau bills etc to find that women had loads and loads, from the richest to the poorest, and they were jam packed with useful stuff. I often see the complaint that women's clothes don't have pockets, but the answer seems to be that women in 1600s to 1800s made their own, and their ridiculous (to us) skirts were very useful! Now they've lost their pockets but men's clothes are fine. How typical.

Oops that was too much detail for a quick update!
Have a nice day all.

MewithME · 17/10/2025 13:05

I loved your update @TeaAndStrumpets !

I'm just having my lunch. WFH today. Having the last of my sweet potato soup. I am sure I have done a little better because I've eaten less rubbish lately. Catch 22 though. Feel a bit better and start eating better. Feel worse eat worse and hard to climb out of.

With the notes thing, have you thought of getting a new Kindle scribe? Best of both worlds. All your books and notebooks together.

Is be lost without mine. Best thing I've bought in years! Keeps getting better with updates too. You can now write notes in books too!

The pockets thing is really interesting. I got a nice skirt but no pockets and I was wondering if I could get a flat sort of bag, like an add on pocket device! I don't want to actually have to wear a full on bag. Not sure I could go full bum bag though..I don't want to draw attention to my chub!

I am having a bit of a spending splurge at the moment. Nothing too extravagant but some new clothes and make up and today I got an Emma Bridgwater mug in the sale because I love it.

I'm making a concerted effort to find more joy.

@MewithME

Thanks the Kindle scribe sounds very useful!

Yes we women have been done out of our pockets! I am quite amazed when I think how impractical pocket-less clothes are. Not everyone likes a handbag.

A new Emma Bridgwater mug is a necessary luxury! I always like nice teacups and plates, I used to spend hours browsing in china shops.

More joy...oh yes!

ruethewhirl · 17/10/2025 14:12

It's already the weekend for me as I work a 4-day week - realised in May I wasn't coping and went part time. Taking it easy though, as I've not been sleeping well all week. Got a lot to get through, as is always the case at weekends, but going to need to pace myself.

FurForksSake · 17/10/2025 14:24

Afternoon! DH took me to breakfast at the garden centre and then we walked around Costco, it was very painful. Had a catch up with my boss, which was good. Let him know we are going away for a few days over half term. It was already booked before I went on long term sickness, won’t impact my imminent surgery and I won’t be doing anything I don’t do at home, aside from maybe being pushed around the zoo in a wheelchair. I feel so guilty about it. The kids need some family time and I know the place so well and it’s all on one level. I plan to do some reading by the fire, a cross stitch and reading. And crying from pain and exhaustion probably 🤭

I love an Emma Bridgewater mug, @MewithME . Especially the flower ones. My kids went through a phase of buying me them - this is my current cuppa in my favourite one ☺️

Swanhilde · 17/10/2025 16:39

I need to admit to myself that I am in a crash and take the necessary (lack of) action. 10 hours sleep last night but no improvement in my fatigue levels. Dragged myself to the community allotment this morning and sat and watched while the others got on. Didn't even feel the usual urge to get on. Fortunately just being there is fine and there is no judgement.

Came home and slept again. And I've just managed a shower and hair wash (have a shower stool) and feel like I need to sleep again.

DH is cooking this evening and I desperately want to catch up with last night's Traitors. Maybe a little nap will help me through...

@FurForksSake please do not feel guilty about your trip. I know it's hard, I felt the same when I was on long term sick and DH took me out for coffee. But it is all part of our self-care and giving your children a fantastic holiday is very much a part of that.

wherewillwegoto · 17/10/2025 17:35

Can I join in? I have fibromyalgia and find it very wearing living with constant pain.

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but will do so in a min. Nice to meet you all.

Today I'm taking my mum to the ballet. She doesn't get out much, so she's looking forward to it. I'd rather sit in front of the tv with a cuppa! Just weighing up which shoes will cause me the least pain as I usually live in trainers if I'm out. I got ready an hour too early because my brain couldn't process the time!

I couldn't sleep last night and didn't get up this morning until midday! I just kept falling back to sleep. Consequently I couldn't get going today and have done nothing.

MewithME · 17/10/2025 17:54

@Swanhilde I laughed like a drain at the task in Traitors. Enjoy when you can catch up.

That's a pretty mug. My friend has lots of them.

I don't have any cupboard space in my tiny house but I am in love with the Halloween stuff so I will find some room somewhere. I bought this one. I am my own favourite witch 🧹 😁

@wherewillwegoto I just decided life is too short for uncomfortable shoes and I wear trainers all the time now!

Ballet sounds wonderful. I would love to see one, one day but I do know what you mean. It would take some recovery time for me.

FurForksSake · 17/10/2025 18:12

I second trainers. I wear sketchers slip ins as with my back and hips they are easiest. Welcome! Enjoy the ballet!

I really need the with mug. I bought a Christmas frog at the garden centre this morning, I’ve named him Flax.
