@ruethewhirl I think my puffy eyes/sinus pain has been worse since flu and covid jabs....just my body being oversensitive as usual.

@FurForksSake I hear you on the soft clothing, I get itchy eczema from labels. I bought myself a very nice soft cotton jersey dressing gown this summer and have just ruined it by putting in a cotton wash at 60. It has shrunk to the length of a gent's smoking jacket now and my knees are chilly! Now hunting for a replacement and wearing a scraggy old fleece one. It felt so good having a lovely dressing gown! Ah well.
@Realisation14 fingers well crossed for today. You are doing a wonderful thing.
I have such admiration for all the people supporting children in large and small ways.

Hotbeverageplease · 15/10/2025 15:55

@FurForksSake aw your poor boy, hope he feels more comfortable very soon.

FurForksSake · 15/10/2025 16:27

He’s sat on the kitchen sofa watching YouTube and drinking a chocolate milkshake. He’s definitely rallied from being at home…

Swanhilde · 15/10/2025 17:10

Still shattered despite more than 9 hours sleep last night! Why don't I wake up refreshed instead of more tired?? Still, win for today was that I took the lift and didn't climb any stairs 🥳

I'm so glad that's the end of work for this week. Tomorrow is definitely pencilled in as a do nothing day.

Baked potatoes for tea - my favourite, cheese and baked beans 😋

MewithME · 15/10/2025 17:15

I love jacket potato and cheese and beans ..make me have heart palpitations...but I still love it 😊

Oh that's wonderful that he's walking home independently, how did it go??

Really well thanks. We're doing once a week for now on a day I am at home anyway. I think the main bully may have moved across town so not near us now, which helps my anxiety about it.

I'm really proud of him. It's really good for his confidence. I know he's behind for his age but it's a big step forward.

Made it into the office. Clearly it was meant to be as a colleague had brought homemade coffee cake!

Had a really great chat with a colleague from another department who has CFS - I went in specifically to meet him and talk about how he coped with everything. Very eye opening and given me a lot to think about.

Hope it went well today @Realisation14

This is wonderful, it will give him such a confidence boost, one day a week sounds like a good starting point!

That is very heartening for you, and such a confidence booster!

My middle grandson was so anxious about seeing his bully at school he wouldn't go in at all, so it can be quite devastating. He is autistic so does take things very much to heart.

Full of misplaced confidence today. Our walk in shower is up two flights of stairs, so I trudged up there and waited for the water to warm up while I sat outside on a stool. Felt awful, switched off the shower, trudged downstairs again. Back to my soapy flannel.

worldwidetravel2017 · 16/10/2025 09:48

Resting / chilling today

Did a,fair bit yesterday

Got us a treat -
Cottage pie meal for 2
For lunch.
( that can microwave )

And can do a side of fresh broccoli.

Love cottage pie

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/10/2025 10:21

@worldwidetravel2017 comfort food!

FurForksSake · 16/10/2025 11:48

Morning! Comfort food sounds good. Sorry about the shower, it’s so hard isn’t it?

DH has helped me fill the bird feeders, the cat and I love watching them. Today we’ve had robins, blue tits, great tits and a cole tit, goldfinches, sparrows, dunnock, magpies, pigeons and starlings.

DH is working from home today, and off tomorrow. Tomorrow we are going to the garden centre for breakfast, that’s exciting!

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/10/2025 12:34

Oh @FurForksSake I do like a garden centre. We bought a tumbledown cottage to rebuild and the garden was delightful before the builders started, now it looks like the Somme, so I need to think about re planting! Probably grass and bulbs, also bird feeders ;-)

Hotbeverageplease · 16/10/2025 13:17

Ahh sorry about the shower @TeaAndStrumpets so frustrating but hope you manage it soon. I had to forego a shower today too but it was a choice at least as I knew I needed to go to the vets today so needed to save my spoons for that!

@worldwidetravel2017 ooh love a cottage pie! Enjoy 😊

@FurForksSake its lovely watching the birds isn’t it. I have a tree with feeders on opposite my lounge windows and it’s great to be able to birdwatch from the sofa! We get a lot of squirrels in the garden at this time of year so I enjoy watching their antics too.

Not sure if I mentioned this before but anyone who likes birds and has a garden to sit in might like the Merlin app that records bird song. It’s a great way to spend 5 minutes outside and see what you can hear!

Routine vets visit today with our little rescue dog, she was very nervous and a bit barky at all the strangers around but she did okay and we got some good advice as the vet had also rescued a mini Daschund so familiar with the breed!

Both back home snoozing on the sofa now and enjoying some sunshine through the window today. I don’t feel great but I don’t feel dreadful so I’ll take that as a win!

Hope everyone is having okay days.

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/10/2025 13:24

@Hotbeverageplease yes also plonked on the sofa hoping for better days...I know I'll get some energy eventually but it always seems to take forever! I think the covid and flu jabs pushed me back a bit.

Your little dog sounds lovely!

Hotbeverageplease · 16/10/2025 14:06

@TeaAndStrumpets she’s the sweetest little dog but very anxious but we’ve only had her a month ( I adore her already) so we have to be patient and give her time. She’s so affectionate and luckily loves a snooze on the sofa!
I imagine the jabs haven’t helped but hopefully the side effects will wear off soon and you can manage a little more.

Stressybetty · 16/10/2025 15:03

Afternoon all, nearly the weekend. First litter of pups to the vets tomorrow afternoon then one leaving and more visits over the weekend. Shattered. Have taken day off tomorrow to manage. Had a long nap after work yesterday but feel rough and fluey today still. Getting new owners mixed up as well. Managed to clean half our en suite in my lunch time today as it's disgusting but have no motivation for anything. Still haven't dyed hair. Love to all

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/10/2025 15:24

@Stressybetty gosh that is a lot on your plate! Glad the puppies are thriving.

Hair is such a commitment, isn't it? Mine only has a few grey streaks and I keep it long so it's no bother, whereas both DDs started going grey in their 30s and keep theirs dyed. I blame their Dad...proper greybeard from an early age.

MewithME · 16/10/2025 16:12

I'm home now from a super busy morning at work. Drive home was an absolute battle. I'm happy now..in my PJ's and Friday again tomorrow. Weeks are flying by so quickly!

Traitors tonight . Yay!

My hair has a proper Morticia Adams white streak (or perhaps Caitlin Moran)...which is very witchy and appropriate for October. I quite like getting older. I'm fatter and greyer but more accepting of my looks and think I'm ok all things considered. I feel like I've earned my white streak! 😁

OP posts:
TeaAndStrumpets · 16/10/2025 16:36

@MewithME If anyone asked for grey streaks at the hairdressers it would cost a bomb!
Enjoy your PJ time;-)

Swanhilde · 16/10/2025 16:49

As needed, today has been spent in bed dozing and drinking tea. Did sew up my latest knitting project so am now sat comfy and warm in that.

Lunch was cheese on toast, tea will be boiled eggs. Tasty but simple. Then an evening on the sofa catching up with last night's Traitors 💕

Hopefully I will have more energy in the morning to go to the community allotment 🤞
