Not a great day here. Stayed in bed most of it. Don't think they grey outside helps. Sorry to moan. Have a bad headache so taken a combination of meds.

Feeling a bit rubbish I haven't done much. Maybe that MIL voice in my head! I did have a bath, but not washed my hair. Might try that tomorrow. Hope others have better days.

Swanhilde · 13/10/2025 16:53

Work has completely done me in today. I am home now in bed with a cuppa. Boiled egg for tea I think - no energy or brain power to come up with anything else.

Quiet evening and early night in order 😴

TeaAndStrumpets · 13/10/2025 17:04

Such a miserable grey day, I have achieved my personal best for numbers of hot water bottles at three! Two behind, one on tummy. It's certainly eased off the stiffness. Long phone call from DD cheered me up. Their bees have been very productive, 90+ jars from one hive, with more to come from their other hives. Shame I don't like honey!

FurForksSake · 13/10/2025 17:25

Sympathy for the headache, I really don’t think the weather helps.

ds1 wants a soft boiled egg with his ramen for dinner so I’ll pop a few in the air fryer for him.

I took my L-tyrosine today and yesterday, I think it makes me feel a little more positive. I have my first online cbt session tomorrow, I’ll see how that goes.

Realisation14 · 14/10/2025 08:52

Morning everyone, haven't been on for a few days so just trying to catch up on what everyone has been up to. @TeaAndStrumpets that's amazing about your daughter's bees, you must be proud of her!

Today is gonna be okay, I can feel it 🤞(trying to manifest lol)

FurForksSake · 14/10/2025 09:00

Morning! I’ve got the kids to school (literally just driving and chucking them out). I have cbt this morning and then hydro this afternoon. Supposed to be going for my flu jab but I’m exhausted and feeling quite run down so I will cancel it.

wishing you all peaceful days.

Fingers crossed @Realisation14 hope this manifestation lark works out for you!

I am feeling more positive today as well, now the Covid jab aches and pains have mostly gone. I couldn't sleep last night and lay there planning to clean and tidy my house today as it has been neglected. We haven't had any viewings for a while but I thought what if the agent sends someone round this week? It would be panic stations! Told DH I intended to tidy up but he has forbidden it! He tries very hard but things like dusting he's a bit inefficient. No show home here, then.

Maybe I'll manifest some buyers once the house is tidy! Honestly it's such a waiting game. Our first buyers pulled out in July, just before exchange. With our second buyers one of them died the day after we accepted their offer in August....seriously. They are now ghosting us, not the deceased buyer (!) but the bereaved one. They told the agent twice that they were still keen to buy our house but we haven't had any further contact for a month. We firstly said no problem, understand the circs , etc, not wishing to push, but I think we should have seen some action by now.

Luckily we are in no hurry but the fear of sudden intense housework is hanging over me. I do envy permanently tidy people!

Hotbeverageplease · 14/10/2025 10:08

Morning, hope everyone’s day is a better one. Not too bad here but feeling like I’ve overdone it a little bit and don’t want to slide backwards again so not aiming for too much today. I do need a shower so that’s my main goal and I also have my flu jab later. Otherwise sofa, iPad, kindle and might even find the scarf I decided to start knitting a few weeks ago and then got bored of!

@TeaAndStrumpets sounds a tricky situation with your bereaved buyer and keeping the house tidy for possible viewers must be stressful!
Can you maybe try one room each day you feel able. I often set a short timer and just aim to make a bit of a difference rather than do everything that needs doing!

TeaAndStrumpets · 14/10/2025 10:23

@Hotbeverageplease thanks I do try to keep bedroom bathroom kitchen OK but our living room takes a hit when I have piles of books, kindle, etc surrounding me! The clutter sort of builds up, and DH is just as bad. Just one room at a time is good advice though, I should do that rather than blasting the whole house at once!

I do envy people who can knit, I knew how to years ago, even patterns ! but was never very good at keeping the tension consistent. I am more of a sewer, made my own wedding dress etc. In recent times I enjoyed making felt collages but gave up because I have such a stiff neck. I do like darning and small bits of hand sewing, but I can't do a lot.

ruethewhirl · 14/10/2025 10:51

Expending as little energy as possible today as still paying the price for doing too much housework at the weekend. Somehow it's extra galling when crashes happen as a result of doing boring duty stuff rather than anything fun! Very thankful I wfh though.

Hotbeverageplease · 14/10/2025 11:00

Ahh I envy people who can sew! Making your own wedding dress is amazing! I’m a terrible knitter I can literally only knit straight lines so scarfs it is but I’ve managed the odd baby hat with my mum to put it right! 😂 But I learnt whilst housebound when my mum taught my DD when she was about 6 and realised I find it quite relaxing and it stops my brain going into overdrive. It tends to be a stop/ start hobby but does make a change from the usual reading/ TV/ puzzles!
I hear you on the lounge, our Kitchen/ diner is the one where everyone dumps stuff and it just never stays tidy. My lounge is currently full of dog toys again so my weekends efforts haven’t lasted long!

Greenvases · 14/10/2025 11:16

I was away for the weekend and did the dog on my anti inflammatory diet, drinking alcohol, eating fast food, gluten, red meat, white potatoes.

Am paying for it now as feel very sore all over.
I find while my form is good, I have a tendency to stay at home, savouring the peace of an empty house.

It is something since Covid that I seem to have slipped into. A real homebird.

The autoimmune disease seems to have bedded that down in me.

My husband is a little hesitant about retiring and I am letting him crack on with whatever he decides.

I would love to take up knitting or crochet, great to keep fingers nimble.

Oh it’s so annoying when you crash from overdoing the boring stuff that just needs to be done! Hope you can rest and get back to your baseline soon 😊

Orangesandlemons77 · 14/10/2025 11:50

Just been for the flu jab and recovering at home now. Was a very naughty child in the pharmacy with an older mum who looked a bit cross when they asked what is your relationship with the child?

The pharmacist had the poster with eligibility for the covid jab on his wall with 'over 75' circled, I told him I had heard they had had lots of aggro from others not eligible this year, he signed and said yes, I told him about elderly MIL who is over 80 but won't go.

Picked up some milk and apple juice at the newsagent on the way home, it was closer and more expensive but didn't fancy the longer walk to the Co-op.

So that's my excitement so far. Bought a Crunchie for DH who mentioned he liked them the other day. 89p! Which I thought was expensive. Oh no, starting to sound like MIL again, she is forever going on about how expensive stuff is.

I can totally relate re the homebirding, I'm the same and I've also leaned more into it since Covid. I have to force myself to get out and about some days (other days I don't worry about it and just stay in, as I will be doing today! 😄)

MewithME · 14/10/2025 12:56

You've been a chatty bunch this morning 😊

WFH today. Just had dippy eggs for lunch... You e inspired me😉

Online meeting soon and DS is walking home today....new development! It's so exciting. I love that he's finding more independence...and I get one less school run. It really helps.

Heartily agree, so annoying to waste energy on virtuous things!

@Greenvases DH has been retired a few years now, he could have carried on but it seemed the right time. He has never looked back although he misses some of the people he worked with. There are never enough hours in the day, he is so busy on his own interests apart from doing household stuff.

Oh what a difference when they can walk home from school!

Orangesandlemons77 · 14/10/2025 13:22

MewithME that is so nice when they can start doing the school run themselves a bit. We had a busy road to cross with no crossing person (they got rid of them) which was a tricky thing, also up a steep hill, anyway I am glad those days are in the past now. Things like that can make such a difference when it is every day.

Working at Home cos I'm too knackered to go into the office. I had the COVID and Flu jab on Friday amd it's absolutely floored me; pain is worse fatigue is worse and i'm struggling today.

Sorry to hear about that, I had them both together last time in each arm and remember feeling not right after - I just had flu this time and OK so far. Hope things improve.

Back to the pharmacy for me again this afternoon to collect pain meds. I have a review for these soon (yearly) and hoping they don't stop it. Gabapentin and co-codomol. Was hoping to get them this morning but weren't ready. Sorry this is a bit boring but I am glad to get them because I have run out.

Anyone else have problems with them prescribing opiates longer term? It does help, and I never take more than I am supposed to. But they have written and new strict sounding message on the label saying "Only for occasional use only, for as short use possible to avoid dependence" hmm.

The aching after the covid jab went on about 24 hours for me, but it was horrible while it lasted. Hot water bottle is a real help. Hope you feel better soon.

BrownFlower2 · 14/10/2025 15:09

Thank you @TeaAndStrumpets and @Orangesandlemons77 . I'm on day 4 of aching; It is improving but its made me feel very low. I didnt have any symptoma whem.i had both jabs last time. Bodies are strange things!

Greenvases · 14/10/2025 15:16

I'm too terrified to take any further jabs.
I'm too sore as it is.
Fantastic when the school runs reduce, suchba difference not to be clock watching.

I have turned into a "do a task, have a sit down" person.

It wasn't until I was diagnosed and read up on the fatigue that the penny dropped.

The house used to be show home standard, as I was very high energy and organised.
Now its fine and tidy, but nothing like it was, to my eye.

Am thinking of trading down though, the house is far too large long term.
I would love a two bed bungalow.
