We are also planning on Yorkshire puds later, have some in the freezer ready.

Frozen ones. Genius!

@TeaAndStrumpets that is absolutely ridiculous. For people with LC (and lots will actually have MEcfs), that will just make them crash. I wouldn't bother going again.

@Swanhilde sounds like a nice Sunday. Mmm...apple crumble. I can't get enough cinnamon...it is quite sweet so I'm sure with your spices it'll be lovely.

@Orangesandlemons77 I think lots of people with MEcfs also have POTS . I suspect I might. My heart rate goes crazy if I stand up for ages. I'm better doing a slow walk than just standing.

It's can be 120+BPM in a queue.

I have had the best weekend for a long time.

I've been to see some trees. I'm so happy. 😍Had a pumpkin latte and sat on a bench. It was beautiful. First outing of my oversized outdoor oodie. Like having a duvet out and about!

My Yorkshire puddings are in the fridge m&s Fresh ones. I just don’t have it in me to make them from scratch. I’ll do it in early December and freeze half for the big day.

chocolate cake is in the oven!

FurForksSake · 12/10/2025 12:27

That weekend sounds wonderful!

Tiredandwired2 · 12/10/2025 12:36

Love hearing about all your weekends. They sound lovely.

Slight crash for me. Horrendous sinus/headache this morning. It's my third day on ivabradine so it may be that. It's working on reducing my heart rate though.

Going to be a day resting at home. Feeling pretty fed up with everything at the moment but trying to find small moments of joy and keep repeating 'This too shall pass'.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend

BerfyTigot · 12/10/2025 13:06

Just got in from a short dog walk, with a rest on a bench halfway. I haven't managed that walk for 3 years so it's a significant achievement for me.

Im buzzing now, so pleased with myself. On the sofa for the rest of the day.

One thing I realised is how nice it is to be out with the dog and having little conversations with strangers - nothing exciting, about the weather, the dog etc

I've missed that.

Love hearing about what everyone is cooking 😋😋

@MewithME glad your weekend is going well, you deserve a good one

Hotbeverageplease · 12/10/2025 14:37

@MewithME just smiled a big smile at the fact that you finally got to see your trees 🌲 So pleased for you 😊 I do love this thread.

@TeaAndStrumpets Oh blimey that covid clinic sounds like my worst nightmare. Hope you don’t suffer too much after that.

@Orangesandlemons77 ignore the doing more comments! That’s a fab quote about human beings not doings… I shall remember that!

Sorry I can’t reply to everyone, but I do like reading what everyone is up to even if it’s resting/ sofa days.
I’ve been pottering and pootling and actually enjoying the quiet house tbh with family away. I seem to have had a better few days finally and managed a bit of tidying/ cleaning in short bursts. I attempted to change the bed in stages today, DH normally does that and noticed my HR shoot up so rested til it passed and then finished it off! So that’s an achievement 😊

Just been resting in bed. Going to try a very quick dog walk on my scooter so dippy dog can have some sniffs and fresh air. We managed it yesterday and she was pretty good with the scooter considering I haven’t walked her alone with it yet. It was lovely being able to go further than when I occasionally walk ( just to a nearby bench!) and it wore her out so I could watch Strictly in peace!

Hotbeverageplease · 12/10/2025 14:42

@Tiredandwired2 I repeat that phrase often too. Rest up and hope things settle.

@BerfyTigot well done on the dog walk! That sounds fabulous.
I’m the same when I occasionally get out on a dog walk, I love the random little hellos and chats. Though my new rescue dog is very anxious with strangers so it’s generally quick but I think she needs the positive interactions.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/10/2025 14:50

I am really hating the sofa and trying to think of a way to soften it. I am like the princess and the pea! We had the original feather seat cushions replaced with foam (at great expense) but if I sit or lie too long I get a numb bum. Maybe I'll find a duvet to pad it. The sensible thing would be to go to bed but I am not sensible.

FurForksSake · 12/10/2025 16:12

Cake finished! Ganache was a bit runny, but delicious. Should have probably left it to set for a lot longer 😆😆

What are you up to today if you have chronic illness part 2?

Wow looks like you had to be pretty quick to photograph it before it vanished!
Great result.

FurForksSake · 12/10/2025 16:26

DS2 (just turned 10) did it all with just some supervision. He’s taking a piece in for his teacher so I ensured scrupulously clean hands 😆

Im now welded to the sofa with my heat pad.

Swanhilde · 12/10/2025 17:19

Apple crumble 🍏😋

Oh yes, that looks proper @Swanhilde! Cream or custard?

Don't have any custard, @FurForksSake - will have to get some of those little pots for the cupboard. Cream it is today.

DH is going out with DS (16) to a fleamarket which is quite a drive. When they were little they often used to go to these and come back with all sorts of random stuff. Now they are more discerning but still find odd stuff so will see what comes back later!

I was thinking of going but it is quite a drive and I don't get on so well in the car these days.

In bed with a hot water bottle and some pain meds as my tummy is sore today (adhesions) but glad of the cosiness.

Other DS is away at his girlfriends, so another day alone here, but I feel less lonely chatting to you all, online.

Sorry I am not up to quoting everyone / naming, but I think the pizza party sounds a good plan. Nice and simple

I wonder if we can get lower oxygen levels and higher heart rate with ME / CFS? if that is what is going on. Hope the jab goes OK, I have the flu one tomorrow. Not eligible for covid this time despite DH being immune suppressed. He got his though.

Dog walks and swimming sound good, not too OTT. I just cancelled this session at my gym where they want to do some kind of exercise plan with me, just going to stick to the swimming and pilates for now. That is enough.

And that is OK. I am having some chat from MIL about 'doing more' and people she 'admires. who do so much / are so busy' etc so trying to ignore it. As they say in mindfulness, we are human beings not human 'doings'

Edited

Your MIL sounds exactly like mine! Tbf, at 86 she's got more energy than I have at 57 😄but she thinks everyone who doesn't race around like her is just lazy. All we can do is let it wash over us and remind ourselves the super-active people are just freaks. removes tongue from cheek 😂

Hope the pain eases soon. I'm not eligible for covid vacc this time either despite being asthmatic and a carer for my mum. GP at my mum's dementia review last week gave me some spiel about how they're trying encourage natural immunity to rebuild. OK in theory, but I really hope I don't get covid any time soon as it hits me quite hard enough when I am vaccinated! (cough-variant asthma, and covid seems to set it off really badly) Personally I think those of us with chronic stuff going on should be eligible, but I am wondering if the natural immunity argument is a cover-up because supplies are short... 🤔

Tiredandwired2 · 12/10/2025 18:10

@FurForksSakeand @SwanhildeI am loving the bakes! Enjoy!

FurForksSake · 12/10/2025 18:26

I overdid it. Had a strop, bit of a cry and now I’m not moving for the rest of the day.

MewithME · 12/10/2025 19:58

@FurForksSake aw. You are allowed a strop. Rest up.

@FurForksSake you probably overdid it showering for both us...

At least you succeeded in some great baking, so that is a win!

Tomorrow is another day. Hopefully some nice leftovers from today's efforts?

I do love a leftover.

FurForksSake · 12/10/2025 22:15

I can have cake after physio :)

TeaAndStrumpets · 13/10/2025 09:28

Standing awkwardly for half an hour yesterday has made my lower back seize up. My left shoulder is killing me and every joint feels stiff. Better than actual covid I suppose. Hot water bottle on back and hips today. Onward and upwards!

FurForksSake · 13/10/2025 09:51

Aw @TeaAndStrumpets sorry to hear it’s made things so painful.

DH has sorted the kitchen this morning, he was at camp for two nights and was shattered yesterday and so I did far too much.

im on the sofa, ive got my trusty heat pad on, a blanket, my pillows for my hip and im watching something called Sullivans crossing.

I’ve started taking my supplements again, not sure how much they help, but they do a bit.

I’ve got physio at lunchtime so hoping I can get my back a little less screwed before I present to him. I’m hoping I’ve done enough of my homework.

TeaAndStrumpets · 13/10/2025 10:01

@FurForksSake physios are a godsend. I hope you gain some improvement.

I saw a women's health physio a few months ago and she was very informative, my problem is a too tight pelvic floor so I have to work at relaxing things. Easier said than done!
