I was on the Tube heading towards King's Cross.

Fellow passengers were impressed that it worked deep underground!

Dashing out of the bathroom to turn it off!

fussychica · 07/09/2025 18:04

In our conservatory watching cricket. The alarm went off at the end of an over which was just as well due to the number of people in the ground with a phone.

At a Country Fair watching the heavy horse Show Champion doing his lap of honour.

Might I ask what is a heavy horse - or it is obvious that a heavy horse is... heavy?

I'm a city girl - hence being on the Tube when the alarm went off!

It didn’t, didn’t last time either. I’m on wifi at home so the 5/4 G doesn’t work.

Zodiacrobat · 07/09/2025 18:06

In my home office, I had set an alarm for 10 mins before to make sure I wasn’t on a call to a customer or anything. So no jumping here.

I heard DC phone upstairs go off about 3 minutes after mine.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 07/09/2025 18:07

Out in town. Loads of phones pinging at the same time was very impressive!

PuppyMonkey · 07/09/2025 18:08

In the pub having my Sunday dinner.

Mine went off a good minute and a half after everyone else’s. Confused

I must have been out, I think I remember looking at the phone to see my shopping list and noting I had about 7% charge left and then was walking round the supermarket

Didnt hear anything, perhaps it doesnt work if you dont have a fully charged phone?

7%? Eek! I get twitchy if my phone goes below about 80% charge. Mind you I’m using it pretty constantly daily for my business.

GinToBegin · 07/09/2025 18:08

In a car with DM and DP, driving past a garden centre (not that we’d been in there), and it was a bit much.

familyissues12345 · 07/09/2025 18:08

On the motorway. 3 phones in the car, and even though we were counting down, we all still jumped! 😂

KawasakiBabe · 07/09/2025 18:09

I was walking into Lidl, the whole place went off! Lol

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/09/2025 18:09

Back garden, my phone was in the living room near DH so he heard it and I didn’t.

DiscoBeat · 07/09/2025 18:10

In the middle of a gig (I play guitar in a band). The speakers picked up the band's phones and the crowd's phones all went too.

Artifishal · 07/09/2025 18:11

Sat in a bird hide waiting for an osprey (which didnt show up!)

We had an actual emergency alert last year I think it was - there was a red weather warning I think for wind

RobinEllacotStrike · 07/09/2025 18:13

On the beach.

a ripple of movement as everyone looked for their phones.

Xanadu58 · 07/09/2025 18:13

I was driving, did wonder what it was then checked the time and remembered it was happening at 3 .

Shire horses/cart horses, beautiful😍

I was working on hospital ward and because of poor reception they went off at slightly different times and different sounds......was like an orchestra playing😂

I was in a museum cafe. 3 others went off. Mine didn't go until 15:04. I have concluded Vodafone doesn't want me to survive.

At home hoovering. Couldn't hear a thing! Absolutely useless if it was meant to be an alert....

One of the many drawbacks of housework.

whatsit84 · 07/09/2025 18:15

At my parents and all 4 phones went off, was louder than I thought it would be (I didn’t get the alert last time)

IIlII · 07/09/2025 18:16

In bed, was leaning over the edge of the bed as could hear a noise and was trying to work out if it was a bird down the chimney or just the wind and then that started which confused the heck out of me for a second 🤣

HoneyButterPopcorn · 07/09/2025 18:19

Eating lunch.

teacoffeeorpassthegin · 07/09/2025 18:19

John Lewis!!
I heard it go off and then gradually it seemed to pass round other people. It took a while for everyone to sound. I looked at my phone and thought it hadn’t worked then a minute later it did!

OhNoNotSusan · 07/09/2025 18:19

in Marks
i had no idea what the noise was initially,
mine was 2 minutes later as i had no signal in the shop
