I was on the Tube heading towards King's Cross.

Fellow passengers were impressed that it worked deep underground!

At home hoovering. Couldn't hear a thing! Absolutely useless if it was meant to be an alert....

FollowSpot · 07/09/2025 17:36

Decathlon car park, manoeuvring towards the exit.

Thank goodness as it freaked me out, I thought it was another car or something terribly wrong with mine and I slammed my brakes on.

Yes, I did know it was due to happen but it had gone out of my mind / I wasn’t really aware that it was 3 o’clock

MondeoFan · 07/09/2025 17:36

Over the park sitting chatting to my friend

sanityisamyth · 07/09/2025 17:36

In a pub loo. I’m terrified of water pipes and public loos are a nightmare. The siren certainly sped up the process.

Presumably it will tell us.

Yeah it will. We had it last year with a big weather warning and it told us what to do/not do.

mondaytosunday · 07/09/2025 17:36

in this very chair scrolling. Jumped out of my skin then texted the kids asking if it startled them too! Son hasn’t replied (typical) but DD said it surprised her even though we were just talking about it the other day - we both forgot when it was going to happen.

In bed, eyes closed ready to nap! I’d forgot about it and got a right fright

Same

NeverOneBiscuit · 07/09/2025 17:41

In a restaurant. Alerts were going off at least 10 minutes after the original set time. It became quite funny, people joking that they were really important so they’d been alerted twice, that sort of thing.

KelsCommemorativeSausage · 07/09/2025 17:41

Out for a walk and didn't have my phone with me.

JoanChitty · 07/09/2025 17:42

I was cooking our first roast dinner of the autumn. I thought my timer was going off!

You’re terrified of pipes? How did this fear come about? That’s so unusual.

Verywindyday · 07/09/2025 17:45

At a Country Fair watching the heavy horse Show Champion doing his lap of honour.

I thought that. Never known anyone to be afraid of water pipes before. Fear of flooding?

Mangetouts · 07/09/2025 17:28

With my in laws. All 4 phones went off.

What are we expected to do in the event of a real one, apart from reach for the drinks cabinet??

There mainly used for flooding and extreme weather events so will tell you what to do

mamagogo1 · 07/09/2025 17:52

I was in Sainsburys and my phone was at home!

I heard plenty of other people's alarms going off.

I'm not in the habit of taking my phone with me everywhere.

ArthriticOldLabrador · 07/09/2025 17:55

My alert is switched off
Dh’s is on but he didn’t get anything.🤷‍♀️

Dabberlocks · 07/09/2025 17:58

I was with friends, most of our phones didn't go off. Mine remained totally silent.

chachahide · 07/09/2025 18:00

I was at the cinema and completely forgot 😂 a few of us hastily turned it off.

OdeToTheNorthWestWind · 07/09/2025 18:00

Volunteering in a stately home and talking about the Norman Conquest with a visitor.

We both jumped😁

edwinbear · 07/09/2025 18:01

At an athletics meet. I’d switched mine off, but it gave one of the timekeepers I was stood next to a bit of a surprise!

Nannyfannybanny · 07/09/2025 18:02

In the summer house with a glass of wine, having done 2 hours of gardening.

AtLeastIDidntUseASpoon · 07/09/2025 18:03

Knitting. It made me jump and drop a stitch.

soupyspoon · 07/09/2025 18:04

I must have been out, I think I remember looking at the phone to see my shopping list and noting I had about 7% charge left and then was walking round the supermarket

Didnt hear anything, perhaps it doesnt work if you dont have a fully charged phone?
