If you live in England and are not white are you considering leaving the country?

I'm really starting to worry about our future here now that anti immigration / nationalistic feelings are running so high. Our town is full of flags, reform is on the rise (and is pushing everyone, including the other parties further and further to the right) and every day there is news of some sort of anti immigration / anti asylum seekers / stop the boats protest. Dh has said for the first time ever that he doesn't feel safe anymore when out and about. I worry about the kids' future. They were born here and consider themselves British but what if a large proportion of the population doesn't? I feel it's just going to get worse.

I don't really want to leave. I have lived here for more than 20 years. I feel at home here. My kids are at home here. We have a massive mortgage and I don't really fancy starting all over again now that I'm in my mid forties. Also, not sure where we could go as the whole world seems to be becoming more right wing and intolerant and more importantly we obviously both would need to find new jobs first.

Is anyone else worried? Is anyone else considering emigrating? At what point would you say that we (as in anyone visibly not ethnic English or Anglo saxons or whatever, ie not white) need to get out?

This is just getting boring now. Dog whistle posting

I find people using the terms gammon and flag shaggers boring and claiming that anyone who is concerned about immigration must be a racist boring, and the right are the equivalent of the nazis boring.

Noodledog · 29/08/2025 16:45

I'm very happy to hear that Islam is a trailblazer for feminism and women are treated equally and with respect in countries where it is the main religion. I'll let my female Afghan students know, as they seem to be confused on the issue.

Vilifying whole groups of society based on their religion and painting their preferred emblem all over the place? Smashing up/setting fire to places of worship?

I can see the similarity.

I must stop posting on threads where the OP never returns.

ThatRoseBear · 29/08/2025 16:58

OP the current situation is worrying me. My eldest is going to University next month and I have spoken to him about safety. He is 18 and of Indian heritage. He is a prime target for racist thugs who will not stop to ask him whether he is British born or an illegal immigrant. I have previously ( years ago) had P*is shouted at my self and my young children by a complete stranger. It terrifies me that my son could be a target by the virtue of his appearance. He has always attended a school within walking distance so this is the first time he is venturing out. He has been showing me the England flags all over our city. He is proud to be British but we both know that the England flag is being pushed by the far right at this point in time to regain control of 'their' country.
It's awful that my parents experienced racism when they first came in the early 70s and are now in fear of it again in their twilight years

I wasn’t saying that this was her conclusion.

I was saying (sarcastically) that all her problems were now solved. This thread is batshit and frankly quite offensive to those of us not born with silver spoons in our mouths. And non-modest women and Christians.

Boomer55 · 29/08/2025 17:00

I’ve been through worse in this country and never gone anywhere. But, I would t blame anyone that chooses to emigrate.

Sorry to read this- it is difficult enough when your child leaves for university, flying the next etc. Without all this hateful stuff on top. Hope everything works out for him.

@GreyingSunshine I’m so sorry you feel unsafe.
I’m white and live in London- as far as I would know, it’s the same rubbing along vibrant place However I drove down from Scotland last weekend along the M6 and noticed lots of flags from Cumbria to south of Birmingham, then nothing.
Other areas I know include Suffolk/ Norfolk- ok
Essex- not ok
Yorkshire/ Northumbria, richer naicer areas ok, more deprived- not ok.
If you’re seriously thinking of relocating look into Scottish central belt. Glasgow is genuinely multicultural, scenery is stunning and your DCs wouldn’t have university fees.
Sadly it feels as if any community which is predominately white and deprived is becoming more reform.
@Flowers

Yorkshire/ Northumbria, richer naicer areas ok, more deprived- not ok.

That's one hell of a generalisation you're making about Yorkshire there. And which part of Yorkshire are you referring to? It's England's biggest county split into North, West, South and the East Riding. It's population is 5.3 million, only slightly less than the entire population of Scotland.

I live in a small, multi-racial market town in Calderdale (part of West Yorkshire) and I work in a large, multi-racial town. Both are perfectly ok but neither are in the more expensive areas. I've seen no St George's flying or painted roundabouts. None. Infact, the only two Yorkshire areas that have been in the news are York (surprisingly) and Doncaster.

Yorkshire people, by and large, are very tolerant you'll find, regardless of where they live.

It's also worth mentioning that the women's Rugby World Cup began a week ago. Rugby is a popular sport in Yorkshire: it's the world's centre for Rugby League; and Rugby Union and now women's Rugby are popular too. An England flag flying at the moment is not necessarily in support of Raise The Colours.

Both my husband and I will be voting Reform. Now let me explain why. (It may interest you to hear from the 'other side' in all this.) About two years ago, I noticed that I'd stopped watching TV. I also noticed that I was re-watching old British TV shows like Colditz and Brideshead Revisited and Monty Python, and films like Bridge on the River Kwai and Withnail and I. I was reading more as well. But instead of reading contemporary fiction, I was re-reading P. G. Wodehouse and Dickens and Jane Austen. And I was going on YouTube and watching endless clips of Stephen Fry and Blackadder and Fawlty Towers. None of this was conscious. I didn't decide to do it. Then it occurred to me that I was doing this because I was desperately clinging on to my English-British identity.

When immigration happens on a small scale, and the people who immigrate have an affection for the culture they are migrating to, it can work. If you are also highly selective, and only allow in the skilled and educated, it really can enrich your country. But when you have mass immigration, and the people who come in either know nothing about, or literally despise, the place they are moving to, that culture is finished.

Imagine an experiment. You take a country like, say, South Korea, and you move ten million white Germans there. What will happen to Korean identity? Obviously it will be transformed. Now imagine you move 20 million Polish people to Argentina. What is going to happen to Argentinian identity? Again, obviously it would be transformed.

No one asked for mass immigration. No one was given a vote on it. Multiculturalism has simply been imposed on us. The left have an iron grip on the BBC, the universities, the arts and the publishing industry, and they do all they can to promote immigration and make us hate and reject our own history and culture. If you can make people reject their own identity they will gladly embrace a new one. I remember once tuning in to a Radio 4 programme about the poet Tennyson. Within five minutes they'd linked him to colonialism and slavery, and that was it, that was all they talked about. You only have to look at the history section in Waterstones. It might as well be called the "How Britain Ruined the World Section". Let me give you just one more trivial example. A book was published a while ago attacking Churchill. The author claimed he'd advocated dropping poisoned gas on "native peoples". In reality, he'd advocated dropping tear gas on them, something used today to disperse rioting crowds. The author deliberately misrepresented him to make him look as toxic as possible. We are being taught to hate ourselves. It's like an abusive husband who tells his wife she's fat and ugly and useless. He breaks her self-esteem. Of course, once he's broken her self-esteem and made her hate herself, he can do what he likes with her.

I no longer feel English-British. I no longer feel like I live in a nation with a shared history and a shared identity. My ancestors fought and bled in both WW1 and WW2, but if there was a war tomorrow, I'd feel nothing. I no longer have a nation or tribe to defend. This 'gammon' will be sitting out the next war.

I have never met a Reform voter who believed in racial superiority or who hated all non-white people. I have a lovely Indian neighbour. It genuinely upsets me to think that she feels hurt or threatened by the English flags painted on the local roundabout. I don't hate non-white people, but I do hate the bullying, sneering globalist left who have destroyed my identity. I hate their guts. I hate people like Owen Jones and Stewart Lee and Will Self, and they hate me. The problem isn't immigration itself. It's the speed and scale of immigration, and the way the left use it to destroy people's old identity and impose a new one on them. Now that is fascism.

Let me end by saying that there are many, many non-white people I love and admire. There are many, many non-white people I consider 100% English-British. Quick example. I watched a documentary on the Falklands war in which they interviewed a British-Nigerian guy who'd fought in the Parachute Regiment. Amazing man. My husband and I both said what an incredible human being he was and both of us are proud to think we share a national identity with him. People are voting Reform not out of arrogance or aggression or a wish to assert superiority. They are voting Reform because they're desperately clinging on to their identity. An identity, let me add, that many non-white people also want to preserve.

Exactly it’s this. People are genuinely worried about the changing face of the country, the unwanted behaviours and customs, e.g. Pakistani rape gangs, ever-younger girls (aged 4-5) almost fully covered, Imams preaching hate or allowing female children to be ‘married to’ older men and no charges brought, young Muslim men being asked by a Muslim cop to ‘store their weapons back in the mosque’ and no arrests will be made, teacher forced to go into hiding for 4 years now for showing a picture, English woman begging local ‘community leaders’ for forgiveness because her autistic son damaged a book) while a white policeman nods along, police deferring to the male dominated Islamic ‘community,’ so-called moderate Labour politicians obsessing over Gaza…. The list is endless and writing it down there is clearly a common denominator. And the rise in anti-semitism, including violent crime and attacks, that are largely coming from the Arabic population, with weekly Pro-Pal marches grafiteeing our statues, shouting antisemitic slogans, yet is policed softly softly, while other marches get the riot shields and kettling treatment. Pro-pal marches have cost the taxpayer a fortune. Then as soon as a few British flags go up, left-wing commentators start bleating on about the cost to the taxpayer of taking them down. It all paints to a picture that isn’t pretty. But more than this, it’s the complicity and inaction of government to tackle ANY of these wrongs.

This 👏

Aisha was 19 years old when she consummated her marriage during the second year of Hijra (Prophet Muhammad’s pbuh migration from Mecca to Medina). Aisha had a sister called Asma who was ten years older than her, she was recorded as being 27 years old at the start of Hijra. I hope that clears that misunderstanding up.

What revisionist nonsense

Are the claims that Aisha married while she was in her teens accurate? Are they strong enough to make us discard ʿĀʾisha’s ḥadīth? Why did this become an issue in modern times when it was not an issue at the time the marriage took place?
