I’ll start:
> Fleabag
> Mindhunter
> Tokyo Vice
> True Blood
> Big Little Lies
> The X Files
> Three Pines
> Bosch (the original series)
> The Bridge (Danish version)
> Mare of Easttown

Could probably keep going!

Zen. I loved it and was gutted it wasn't continued.

Also enjoyed Murder in Provence. Hope it's coming back.

The actors were a couple but aren’t any longer (Victoria)

Yes. But they could quickly fudge through Albert's death and get Dame Judy Dench to play the ageing Victoria! We just seem to have been left hanging.

Flash Forward was loosely based on a book, should you be inclined to read the original 🙂

Ooh, thank you, I was not aware of this and it's going on my list right now! I came late to the series after a friend recommended it, still haven't fully forgiven her for that as I could have been spared that frustration if she'd never mentioned it!

sashh · 29/08/2025 06:56

Flashforward the book and TV are very different, both worth watching / reading though.

EasyLifer · 29/08/2025 07:24

Poldark and Downton Abbey.

The Living and the Dead - the last episode was set up for such a good second serious but nada.

How Mrs Browns boys etc get airtime - I can’t only assume that it’s viewed by the brain dead and people who can’t change the channel.

Yes it looked like it was about to go into the 20s

suburburban · 29/08/2025 07:56

Also quite liked the detective series in Botswana about Precious in the 00s Lady detective agency

They are rebooting Buffy next year.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt35664058/

Yes I’m well aware - you’d have to be dead not to have heard!

Tillow4ever · 29/08/2025 08:00

Thought if another - Firefly Lane.

WaneyEdge · 29/08/2025 08:00

Goodnight Sweetheart - still pissed off the BBC went with Porridge for a reboot after the one-off a few years ago. GS had so much more scope and stories to tell.

Vera87 · 29/08/2025 08:01

Downton Abbey- prefer series to film
Mad Men
as a Trekkie any Star Trek serie

Bonden · 29/08/2025 08:04

Oh god yes to Dickensian. Come on, it’s not as though there aren't still a million characters to bring together.

Matchalattecoco · 29/08/2025 08:05

Mare of easttown was good!

Firefly lane
Harlots
SATC og
Orange is the new black
Motherland

The Split

edited to add… Good girls and Working moms.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 29/08/2025 08:09

American Gothic - US series from the 90s with Gary Cole. They only made 1 series and it was brilliant - ‘someone’s at the door’

TaborlinTheGreat · 29/08/2025 08:09

Firefly
Shadow and Bone
Lockwood & co

HarryVanderspeigle · 29/08/2025 08:12

Extraordinary

It was great and they ended on a cliffhanger, so now I will never know how that panned out.

Mrsmunchofmunchington · 29/08/2025 08:15

Two which spring to mind which were single series only for unknown reasons are Good Girls Revolt and Love, Lies, and Records.
Both excellent.

Owmyelbow · 28/08/2025 21:55

I wish they weren't cancelling resident alien. So funny

I've been cancelled?! This is some bullshit.

honeylulu · 29/08/2025 08:39

Line of Duty - keep hearing about another series but may just be rumours. One more should do it, needs to have a fantastic crescendo ending like S3.

I thought Ozark needed one more episode (not a whole series), it just seemed to tail off. We were so sure it couldn't have been the final episode that we searched for the missing one!

Yes to Fleabag and Love/Hate.

But overall when you are left longing for more it shows what a great series it was. My pet hate is a series that would have been perfect as a single set but the last episode has clearly been amended from the original concept to provide an "opening" for a second series which turns out to be piss weak i.e. Squid Game. Some things should be left alone to admire!

Creu · 28/08/2025 23:56

Agree with @Tillow4ever, but I want Angel like it was in Season 1-3 by the end when they were running WR&H it wasn’t as much fun.

I thought i was the only one who felt like that - season 5’s viewing figures were the highest of the whole series! But I did not enjoy the whole corporate life - the addition of Spike was great, but I wanted them back to their roots.

clarepetal · 29/08/2025 09:33

Poldark
