Anyone about? Why has DS food arrived here and not DS? Worried.

Worried about DS19. He and his GF went out last night clubbing. We went to bed as usual and were woken up at 4:30am by a slightly annoyed Uber Eats driver ringing the doorbell delivering food to DS.
DS still hasn't arrived, his food is cold and he or GF are not answering their phones. DSs rings but he doesn't answer.
What could have happened?

Asleep at his GFs?

MeAndMyGhost · 24/08/2025 05:55

Could they have stayed at a friends house and had food delivered to the wrong address? Sometimes addresses default to 'home' if you don't change them.

Hope he gets back soon OP.

NestEmptying · 24/08/2025 05:58

I am hoping it's just a drunken address mishap with the food. His GF car is still here so they will have to come back here at some point.
I am just starting the day early today I think. I won't sleep now until he's back

That is worrying but it does sound as though they’ve had food delivered to the wrong address then fallen asleep.

Hope it’s all resolved soon Flowers

Teaandtoast12 · 24/08/2025 06:07

Try not to worry my brother has done this before! Just had sent to home rather than where he was.

MayaPinion · 24/08/2025 06:11

He’s probably ordered it pissed and sent his food to the wrong address.

NestEmptying · 24/08/2025 06:19

Still no sign - I am 99% sure they have fallen asleep somewhere. It's just that 1% that is preventing me from going back to sleep.
To top it off. I got a message from DD17 at 2am which I missed, she is staying at a friend's and wanted to come home then. I text her back at 4:30 but she must be asleep. So I am worrying about both of them now!

PamIsAVolleyballChamp · 24/08/2025 06:23

Hope both are OK. Little sods giving you this stress!

OhNoNotSusan · 24/08/2025 06:26

that's a rotten night for you op

Yes ordered food to wrong address. I’d be miffed at being woken at that time.
i have two dds , in the end I had to trust them and leave them to it otherwise I’d never have slept.

NestEmptying · 24/08/2025 06:57

They are here and I am an idiot.
They were already in and sleeping but did not wake up to get their food. My tired brain didn't think to check his room because I assumed the Uber eats driver leaning on the doorbell would have woken everyone up. Haha! What a palaver.
DD is also fine. I went and got her.
We are having chips for breakfast.
Thanks for the support. x

that is annoying though that they ordered it and slept through it and were there all along!

i blame alcohol

Oh bless you! I’ve also been woken up by Uber Eats in the early hours, in what I thought was an empty house (son and friends in the garden and didn’t hear the door 😬).

Glad all are okay, parenting young adults is tough x

I'm glad they are home. I would be fucking furious with them though over this - ordering food to be delivered at 4am is extraordinarily selfish even if they hadn't fallen asleep and left you to get up. And the fact that they did is even worse. Alcohol and youth is not an excuse. Please read them the riot act!

Remember how easy it’s when you put them to bed at night, tucked them in and knew where they were.

We all thought it was hard then, little did we know….

Have a good day.

'fucking furious', 'riot act'

Wow, thankfully OPs was more concerned about their safety than a doorbell

And then parents wonder why their adult children don't want to spend any time with them.

One offs do not require anyone to be 'fucking furious '

Please keep your parenting “tips” to yourself!

How dramatic! What do you do when something serious happens?

BabyCatFace · 24/08/2025 07:32

Wow. None of you have expectations that your adult kids don't wake you up in the early hours for no good reason? More fools you.

That's very funny! A relief also for you to discover that they were safe and sound all along.

Indeed. The absolute venom I see for teens and young adults on MN at times amazes me. We've also had a poster on here refer to the OPs DS and girlfriend as "little sods" before OP knew they were home and safe.

It's so lovely to see that the majority of people on this thread have been a bit more supportive and understanding.

Glad they are home safe OP, enjoy the chips!!

Bit of an overreaction. A “ffs your food delivery woke me up last night” to which they will likely apologise is suffice if it’s the first time it ever happened.
