The Downton Abbey third movie is out on September 12th. Shall we have some fun predictions?

You may see from my username I’m a huge DA fan and have booked the day off work to drag a very reluctant DH along to see movie number 3 and watch its adorable ridiculousness.

Let’s do fun predictions as we know very little about the plot except that Lady Mary has got a divorce from the car man that she rushed into marrying. And Anna is pregnant.

Knowing how bonkers the franchise is, I’m looking forward to all its glorious nonsense

Ill start:

• Despite the fact he ended the TV shows with probably Parkinson’s, Carson is inexplicably cured and the Butler again at the age of 108
• the Crawley cousins, though clearly born years apart, will continue to appear to be around the same age.
• Sir Richard Carlisle will, 10 years later, finally publish the scandal of Lady Mary shagging a Turk to death. Because despite the fact the whole of season 2 hinges on the fact he was holding her hostage on threat of publishing her secret in newspapers if she left him, she did indeed leave him and it NEVER got mentioned again
• Something will happen again with a minor royal. They’ll meet little Princess Elizabeth and she will take a shine to one of the Crawley cousins, hinting that they could have been proper royalty had only they known she’d be queen one day. I know Julian Fellowes likes to cram in royal history in some way.
• Despite the fact Robert has pissed his money up the wall all his life, buying a load of crap he doesn’t need and making terrible investments, Downton will be “in trouble” - only to be saved at the 11th hour presumably by some long forgotten rich relative who used to bump uglies with Maggie Smith
• Mrs Hughes, a woman who can do far better than snobbish annoying old Carson, will run away with Molsley, leaving behind her inexplicably random marriage that had no chemistry
• Dr Clarkson will misdiagnose someone. Again. Probably with pernicious anemia (they like that one don’t they)
• Bates will do something annoyingly noble, to the detriment of him and everyone around him. Again. And it will be revealed that he did kill Vera. Because he so obviously did and everyone is deluded to think he was innocent

Yes! Omg I’m so excited for the film! Huge fan. My ideas are…
-wedding: got to be molesley and Baxter plus also Mrs patmore with mr Mason. Ooh maybe also Harold and Madeleine?
-prev characters return: I’m thinking Ethel will make an appearance with her son somehow.
-babies: Anna and bates have another and Tom/lucy have a sister for sibby. Maybe Edith and berty have a sibling for marigold.

Literally just finished the binge watch of the whole series and 2 films yesterday!

Molesley will have a script made into a film
and ask Lady Mary to star in it. He might even direct it and she'll be working for him. And they'll like that.

Downton has to be a happy world. Please.

Edith was pregnant in the first film, I think? They had a boy called Peter (after the cousin who died leaving Bertie as Marquis).

I want to know who the new butler is, having seen the trailer where Thomas gets invited to take tea UPSTAIRS with Lady Mary and Dominic West.

There is will a night scene where people run bare foot on the grass - guests in my air BnB who were on a night shoot for the film left the bath like they had rinsed muddy feet of in it

Would love to see Harold and Madeline. US Downton could be a lot of fun 🤣

Yy to the pernicious anaemia story. I have it and the only reason anyone has heard of it is because it was used twice in storylines. Cora had way more energy Thani do though.

mary who is a bit of a cow will still have nice men dropping like flies in front of her though.

DD(15) and I are huge fans. Currently rewatching, the series in preparation for the film!

Series of yellow Labradors who all look totally unfit for a day’s work in the field will be quietly relishing ear scruffles from random actors, under the name of Isis.

I loathe Mr Bates and always have so I hope he dies (an obviously noble and sanctimonious death) and Anna finally gets to be with someone who is more fun.
Cant wait for the film. I’m taking dd to uni on the 13th and it will be my salve the day after.

I’m going to be on holiday. Seriously considering cancelling it 🤣

Hope it doesn’t end with Downton being taken over by the National Trust.

I love Downton, still on my todo list to visit Highclere one day.

Reading between the lines, I think Lady Mary will divorce her husband because he has a new role in Dept Q and is too busy to film Downton. That leaves Lady Mary to find a new unsuitable love interest.

Anna or Mr Bates will be accused of murder again.
Turns out they both murdered Vera and Mr Green. Plus Miss O'Brien and Isis.

That would be the ultimate twist. The evil me and Mrs bates! They could have poisoned the Turk in series one as well.

Of course! Then let Mary believe it was her.

I made the mistake of trying to get him into it for ages and then the first episode he watched was when Mrs Hughes got bollocked for trying on Cora’s coats. It was perhaps the most boring episode ever and he was like “THIS is what you obsess over?!”

Yes why are so many men in love with horrible cold lazy Mary!

DH is very excited about the film. He avoided Downton for years saying it looked boring until I sat him down one night and promised him he would like it. I think he’s on his third rewatch now.

I feel I have seen so many trailers for this film that I could write it myself.

Yesterday I was at the local spa I go to, and the background music was the Downton Abbey theme. I mentioned this and one of the staff knows someone who lives in Highclere castle.

Boring! No, it's definitely anything but. I used to love the machinations of Thomas and Miss O'Brien.
