so he’s done a vow renewal after only getting wed in 2022 and none of his siblings or parents were there, just seems to have been organised by his billionaire wife’s parents. It looks like a very deliberate fuck you to his family. What can they have done to deserve such shocking treatment? It’s bizarre. And let’s hope the marriage to the (reportedly prickly, hard work) billionaire works, so he doesn’t have to come crawling back to Mum and Dad………

I think it's legitimate to use a thread to say that you don't care about something. We can't avoid these people because they are pushed in front of us night and day. People need somewhere to register their nonchalance.

I have been reading this thread but i can't say I particularly care about the Beckhams. It passes the time while i'm eating my sandwiches and then I forget about it as soon as I get back to whatever I'm supposed to be doing.

I often read threads about things I don't really care about, including this one. But I can never understand why people feel the need to comment other them to make themselves feel somehow superior.

I also don't watch soaps but it would never occur to me to pop onto the Coronation Street thread and write "don't care cause I don't watch it".

The Beckhams are quite easily avoided. To find information about them I would need to run a search for them, but I am quite interested via this thread (which was trending at one point) in the way the spiteful media directly blames women for all family discord, especially if it's between her DH and his family. The men are never, ever held responsible, even though as their blood relative the sum total of responsibility for maintaining that relationship is his.

It's a theme oft-repeated on MN threads. Even on a women's support site, women take the vast majority of the blame. And I do feel a vested interest in challenging the sort of misogyny pedalled in the media and regurgitated on chat sites like this, where people appear happy to take pot-shots at women purely for entertainment because a sexist, patriarchy-driven media typically gives those stories this slant.

Maybe, after all, those observations are not as frivolous as they look.

i agree to an extent. I’ve always thought Harry’s estrangement from his family was down to his own jealousy and bitterness and he has a relationship that enables it

with Brooklyn we don’t know what issues he already had with his family that made it easy to go low contact once he was out of their sphere

caveat that don’t know if there’s any abusive behaviour that makes it harder

We do know there were issues in the previous NP long term relationship re: apparent ‘control’. IF correct & any ‘control’ may not have been instigated from NP herself. VB apparently ‘warned’. Also if wedding texts are correct NP’s mother has said the marriage is about her daughter’s ‘career’ which nothing must damage.

We don’t have full context but I’d be unsettled. Billionaire dynasties are unfathomable & powerful - whose 80 plus year old father would typically officiate at a vow renewal?

It's possible to extremely restrict and control your calories and macros and have some variation though.

When you have as much dosh as him and at his tender age, you have the luxury of experimenting and trying different experiences without having to worry that you're wasting your hard earned cash on training courses, kit, etc. he doesn't need to pigeonhole himself to anything to please any of us and least of all his family.

unlike the majority of people of his age group, who never get to experience new things, they have to stay in the same monotonous groove, to make a living to pay for the essentials of life. They don't take the same risks as someone with deep pockets.

VB does look great but it’s all plastic surgery, how can it not be. Her face would be gaunt if not for fillers. She’d look like Sharon Osborne I think. Her parents must be worried sick.
