Awake and changed my username for this one and sounds crazy.

Ok so couple of odd things happening lately in my house. At home alone until the weekend and it will be a long few nights.

What makes you think it’s a ghost?

awakeandasleep · 06/08/2025 01:28

I heard a noise in my dining room the day before yesterday and went into the room and an ornament my deceased DF gave me was on the floor no way it could have fallen and at 1am this morning my alexa starts playing music?! Help me to calm down and go back to sleep!

What’s been going on? I have had a couple of paranormal experiences (or what I think are) and I just say out loud “You’re welcome to stay but I am scared and I would rather you not show yourself to me or my family” and it’s been fine since then. Might be in my head but it makes me feel better.

Maybe he’s trying to say hello. I would just say out loud that you’d like to be left alone. I have had a few inexplicable experiences myself so I believe you.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 06/08/2025 01:31

How could your DF give you an ornament if he is deceased?

There are no such thing as ghosts. Go back to sleep.

What I am too scared to say this.

There is also one room in the house the spare room and if I sleep in there I have terrible vivid horrible dreams. I slept in there a few nights ago and woke at 3:19am beside myself with fear. It was OK because I was wasn't on my own. I have put a bible in that room and my own as I am that scared. This sounds crazy I know. I will not be able to sleep at all tonight.

Sorry not really thinking about grammar atm.

There's no such thing as ghosts.

If my imagination starts running away with me in the night I put some lights on, put the radio on and make a cup of tea. It makes things look normal again and then I can go back to bed and sleep.

I have just said this and woken up the dog at least.

How do you know that there are no such thing as ghosts? That’s quite an assumption.

awakeandasleep · 06/08/2025 01:40

@Overandoveradnauseum thanks I will make a cup of tea and watch a bit of TV maybe.

Just got to pluck up the courage to go downstairs as when I looked at my alexa app it said it was playing in the dining room although couldn't hear it.

@merrymelody

It's not an assumption. It's rational thought and common sense.

Why would he want to say hello tho? He knows this would scare me so why would he do that?

It’s not an assumption, it’s a fact. Otherwise there would be documented proof. There isn’t.

If the ornament was somewhere higher up, and is now on the ground it fell. It must have if no one moved it.

The advice to put on the radio or tv , have a cup of tea etc is good. Leave the light on, try to rest and you’ll hopefully get some rest.

awakeandasleep · 06/08/2025 01:50

Is anybody up to keep me company?

OP posts:

I need to make a cup of tea. Wish me luck

I need to make a cup of tea. Wish me luck. I also need to go into the dining room and unplug the other alexa because if that goes off I really will need to go and stay in a hotel! Shock

It's not an assumption. There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest "ghosts" exist, therefore it's perfectly rational to conclude they do not exist.

It's the presumption they do exist in spite of a total absence of evidence that is "quite an assumption".

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 06/08/2025 02:01

You have a dog ! Dogs are great with ghosts. If you had ghost, your dog would know! Fear not!

Having no documented proof doesn't make something a fact. Lack of evidence is not the same as evidence of absence. There was a time there was no documented proof that the earth was not flat either. Didn't make it a fact. Science hasn't proven it one way or the other yet. I personally don't believe in ghosts, but I can't claim that as a fact. It's a subjective belief at this point.

OP I am wide awake, if that helps.

awakeandasleep · 06/08/2025 02:03

Yes you would think but my dog sleeps through everything we had someone break in and move a washing machine from the utility room and he slept through it!

I have a cup of tea and most of the lights on watching TV and feeling a little bit less jittery. Thanks for staying around.

@XDownwiththissortofthingXare you trying to be clever? There’s nothing wrong with what OP wrote, he clearly gave it to her before he was deceased.
