How does this make Brits feel about Prince Harry?

kmo0416 · 03/08/2025 04:18

Does it melt the hearts of the British when they recall Prince Harry's 'Mummy' letter at Diana's funeral?
Does this make them think twice about treating him and Meghan without more sympathy?

OP posts:

No

beencaughttrollin · 03/08/2025 04:29

I don't remember the letter, but I have a normal amount of sympathy for Harry and Megan. Quite a few people are batshit(e) crazy about them - some nutter just posted on the Royal Family board that her one regret in life is naming her son "Harry" because Prince Harry "turned out to be a disappointment."😆To be entirely fair, though, that wasn't a British person.

skilpadde · 03/08/2025 04:31

No. He’s a man in his 40s. He’s quite capable of being judged by the behaviours and actions he’s chosen as an adult.

Quite why you suggest he, or particularly Meghan, should be viewed through the lens of his loss at the age of 12 is entirely lost on me.

Afraid not, no. Not sure what any of that could have to do with liking or disliking Meghan either?

VashtaNerada · 03/08/2025 04:51

I don’t have strong feelings about Harry and Meghan one way or the other. I find it strange when people do. Without knowing them personally, it’s impossible to judge really. The press is either fawning or hate-filled about all the royal family so it feels sensible to reserve judgement IMO.

Yellowbirdcage · 03/08/2025 04:55

Bit silly to think any nation of tens of millions as one mass. Not sure why I clicked on this as I don’t give the royals a passing thought.
So no I don’t think of him differently because I don’t think of him.

chunkybear · 03/08/2025 05:11

Harry, outside of the cloaking device of The Firm has truly shown the world his childish, highly entitled demeanour. He’s a spoilt entitled little brat and I’m ashamed he’s representing anything to do with Britain, mostly self imposed on the world …. I can’t stand him personally

shellyleppard · 03/08/2025 05:14

Nope.... the way he's behaved since marrying that woman. He will tell all for a few quid and can't be trusted

Kinneddar · 03/08/2025 05:21

Who on earth remembers a letter from almost 30 years ago.

That has no impact on people's feelings about him now. The negativity people have towards them is down to their behaviour in the past few years

Harry might think losing his Mum so young is a free pass to say and do whatever he wants but the rest of us dont.

What a very bizarre question

daisychain01 · 03/08/2025 05:23

With all the advantage he enjoys, all the resource, connections, education etc, even since formally leaving 'The Firm', what has he actually achieved?

absolutely zero. They won't even need a postage stamp to write down his legacy for his Obit. "good at walking round with a face like a kite". It's pathetic.

thats how I judge him. And there are plenty of, billions of people who lost parents at a very young age. He isn't the first and won't be the last.

SoManyDandelions · 03/08/2025 05:24

I'm British and never think about Prince Harry at all in day-to-day life. I only think about him when I see threads on here. I don't like him or dislike him. I was 20 when Diana died but don't remember her funeral.

Edited to add - I remember Diana dying and the massive public outpouring of grief (which made me really uncomfortable). But not her funeral or Harry's letter.

Yes this. And I judge hard based on the sheer nastiness he displayed in Spare. The mocking of his matron who had scoliosis - with no sense of regret or awareness of just how nasty that was- tells me everything about who he is as a person. And it's not nice.

CurlewKate · 03/08/2025 06:35

It’s possible to feel different-even opposing things- about the same person/incident. You can be heartbroken for the little boy, feel manipulated by the focus on that particular wreath at the funeral and think the adult man is a dick.

NebulouslyContemporaneous · 03/08/2025 06:36

I'm guessing most Brits don't really think very much about him at all. I know I don't.

Mildorado · 03/08/2025 06:38

No.

Whitehorses67 · 03/08/2025 06:40

No.
He is a whiny, entitled, and nasty little man.
I lost my mother aged 7 and yet I haven’t made it an excuse for the rest of my life.
Neither have I written a book or been on telly rubbishing people who loved me.

Tablesandchairs23 · 03/08/2025 07:01

H &M are a pair of whinging twats.

taxidriver · 03/08/2025 07:03

what mummy letter?

MyUmberSeal · 03/08/2025 07:04

Not a hint of heart melting.

He's just a massive bellend with a Maris Piper field growing on his shoulder.

Mildorado · 03/08/2025 07:05

taxidriver · 03/08/2025 07:03

what mummy letter?

It wasn't a letter, it was the label on the flowers on her coffin, the floral wreath from her sons.

WonderingWanda · 03/08/2025 07:07

He's done some lengthier writing as an adult op....you might be interested in reading it to see who he has become as a grown up.

NavyPombears · 03/08/2025 07:08

Most normal people don't think about him at all.
The absolute lunatics of MN seems to spend every second worrying about him and stalking him online to a degree that shows how fucked up having a Royal family actually is. I would have no idea what he or his wife are doing ever if not for the millions of threads on MN, despite them supposedly being complete attention whores.

taxidriver · 03/08/2025 07:08

when she died Diana was not well thought of in the UK
the papers were very critical of her on a boat with dodi.
then she died and their stories changed.
harry and william didnt have a normal mother/son relationship anyway imo
harry has made his bed by writing a book criticising his upbringing and leaving the country

taxidriver · 03/08/2025 07:09

i dont spose Harry had any input in the floral wreath

And yet Charles has also demonstrated on many occasion that’s he’s childish, petulant, entitled and completely out of touch but people fawn over him. I don’t understand it 🤷‍♀️
