A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working!

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Yup, she also took shots at Kwarteng in the same manner before that. Just double check d and she said he preferred the company of white people and, specifically, ...'[Kwarteng] really doesn’t like talking to black people in case somebody realises he is black."

TheNuthatch · 19/08/2025 09:59

God she is revolting. I didn't know she'd had a pop at Kwarteng too.

I wouldn’t worry about house taxes too much. Labour is addicted to expectation management. All governments do it to some degree but this shamefully dishonest shower is easily the worst for it.

No doubt we’ll all get taxed more in the autumn. But it will be whatever Reeves can raise without having to say ‘tax’ in the same phrase as any concrete words like ‘income’, ‘savings’ or ‘house’.

She also accused the now potentially disgraced Tulip Siddiq of letting down the whole of woman kind and playing the pregnancy card when she had to leave a debate early. I'm not sure if that was before or after her role as the shadow secretary of state for women and equalities though 🤷🏼‍♀️

Absentmindedsmile · 19/08/2025 10:12

Even the most fervent of mn Labour supporter has given up defending Labour almost entirely and can only console themselves that life would be worse under Reform. Ignoring that this incompetent and contentious Labour government has doubled the popularity of Reform in a year.

Never a truer word said!! Funny if it wasn’t tragic.

Absentmindedsmile · 19/08/2025 10:12

But reform! But ‘the last 14 years’! Wearing very very thin..

Because that's all they've got left. There is NO coherent argument in favour of Labour.

Nice. Its amazing the labels that Labour supporters throw out when they have people like Butler within their ranks.

Yep. All they ever talk about is Reform.
Zero recognition from those who strongly advocated for Labour pre election. They were hunting tory supporters in packs in the run up to the GE.

Yes, although many were clear that they wouldn't care how Labour performed and they weren't worried about the lack of concrete policy because they looked into the heart of the party and saw only kindness and compassion. 😁🫣

Similar results to the find out now polling. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think more in common tend to be sympathetic to Labour? I think we may see Labour in 3rd place soon, fingers 🤞

I read somewhere that Reform aim for the 30% because they feel that's the point at which they can win the election

I know it's 4 years away and I don't know how accurate that 30% is but they must base it on something.....

I can't remember either 😂.
30% is definitely deemed a magic number for a party to win an election. Labour won their huge majority last year with 33.7% of votes.

Just looking on YouGov. Labour and Cons only have a 1% difference in favourability now. Lowest score for Labour since 2021. How the mighty have fallen.

Fingers crossed that the Tories can continue to make even slow progress.

My hope is that the Tory party can survive and remain the Official Opposition, or at least somewhere close enough. Doing even a bit better in 2029 than in 2024 would do. Because I think two terms out of office might be necessary and if Reform becomes the next government I suspect it won’t work out very well.

I appreciate there will be Reform voters on this thread and I can well understand why a further option for the right is attractive at the moment. But I could not vote for them and I do not think they have the necessary constituency generally, or the brains, to perform in high office. Their policy offer is incoherent.

My fear is that the centre-right (at least those who bother voting in future) will be forced into the arms of the Libs or Labour if there isn’t a credible Tory party - by which I mean a party that is big enough to be a plausible future government.

Arrearing50 · 19/08/2025 12:07

labpor seem to have no ideas the snp have t already had - LBTT (stamp duty) is much higher on more expensive homes in Scotland.

only three more months of fear before we find out where the next axe falls…yay..

I agree. I am naturally now a Tory voter but I will vote for whomever can get Labour out.
It's hilarious the reactions you get from the cultists when you say that. They forget that during the election they said exactly the same thing about the Tories.

It is, and welcome.
Originally set up as a haven against all pro-Labour who were too blind/deaf/optimistic however now the majority of those have gone quiet for some strange reason 🤣

Absentmindedsmile · 19/08/2025 12:20

We’re much kinder than other long running political threads.. shocking really since most of us despise Labour.. who knew

Their reason d’etre now is complaining about farage and reform. It’s all they’ve got bless them.
