Let's be honest. The BBC feels the need to have this as a major headline for woke reasons. The reality is few people give a shit....

There were no seats left in the pub when we went to watch it today ..people do care

Radioundermypillow · 27/07/2025 22:41

If you are a man @UnbelievablyStressed , with a female partner, hopefully you left her alone to watch it while you got on with the housework.

You might change your tune OP, when you realise that if the football wasn't the top headline this evening, it would have been Trump instead.😂

SparklyGlitterballs · 27/07/2025 22:46

Don't rise to it ladies. Probably some saddo bloke who resents the fact that women can achieve what the men can't, and have actually done it twice in a row now. Congrats to the England women's team for their well deserved victory! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

MaidOfSteel · 27/07/2025 22:46

Speak for yourself, OP.

Why not just be happy at a good news story? We get pitifully few these days.

PickAChew · 27/07/2025 22:47

You lost me at "woke". Why is it "woke"?

I don't enjoy football. I am pleased for the Lionesses, though.

FKAT · 27/07/2025 22:48

I don't care about most news. Especially Gaza / Palestine.
News isn't about what you 'care' about - it's about world events selected to fit audience and editorial priorities. You're confusing News with a card from your family.

It was fucking brilliant, everyone i know cares and watched it.

Back to your little rock you go!

SunnySummerHols · 27/07/2025 22:51

I enjoyed watching the game and of course it’s news worthy. Sporting achievements are always on the news.

sleepwouldbenice · 27/07/2025 22:53

Sandyoldelbows · 27/07/2025 21:25

Everyone I know has been talking about it! It’s quite nice to celebrate wining and they are super role models.

This
its not particularly my thing, but many friends have been watching it
no different to other football, Wimbledon, major boxing matches etc
so I think you’re wrong

Summeriscumin · 27/07/2025 22:54

Only one person in my friend group is interested. The rest of us don’t care about it whoever is playing. But I’m happy for those it matters to.

although wall to wall on 2 channels seems unnecessary. And delaying the start of other programmes for the inane chatter afterwards was annoying to those of us waiting for the proper programmes.

SaintGermain · 27/07/2025 22:56

They are pushing it down our throats to distract from the protests at young male migrants being housed in hotels.

Joey Barton’s joined Mumsnet !!

Yayitstheholidays · 27/07/2025 22:58

Don’t be absurd. I’m not a football fan but I think it’s brilliant. These young women are great role models, demonstrating physical fitness, accomplishment, determination and great team spirit. I love how supportive they are of one another and how they have succeeded when so many people talked them down. I think their manager is also a great role model. Nearly all the women I know are talking enthusiastically about this achievement.

mindingmyown37 · 27/07/2025 22:58

I mean each to thier own but I feel the attendance and viewing figures speak for themselves…. Interested to say - Would you be saying that if it was the men’s team?

Gabbycat245 · 27/07/2025 22:58

Is that you, Joey Barton?

B3aronthechair · 27/07/2025 22:58

I echo the general sentiment here OP, you may not care but thousands of people do. Including children who are seeing an England team win on a consistent basis for the first time in their lives.. Not to mention the fact that it is a team of diverse, strong, resilient women, some of whom have battled their own significant challenges (endometriosis, neurodiversity, racism and a fractured tibia to name a few) and who would not have even been permitted to play the game 50 years ago. It’s important for a lot of reasons and none of them ‘woke’.

It’s come home…..again!

Saw this yesterday, nothing like a bit of women’s footy to rile the sexist pigs from thier holes 🙃. When he said his wife agrees, wonder if it’s because she has no other choice. God forbid she tries to be interested what he would do… also mens football has been shoved down our throats for decades. Those who didn’t like —— guess what just didn’t watch it 😂

LadyGAgain · 27/07/2025 23:03

Wow what a goady BS post.
so so proud of our Lionesses once again. The women’s game is different to the men’s and I love both. I’m delighted that my young daughters see our women’s game on mainstream TV as they have no idea how long it took us to get there.
yeah there are misogynistic comments all over the place. They are to be ignored.
so, to keep it simple…you’re wrong OP.

Internaut · 27/07/2025 23:05

Woke? What a bizarre interpretation.

The fact that you aren't interested in something doesn't automatically make it woke.

SaintGermain · 27/07/2025 22:56

Yeah, two tier reporting. I like my reporting one tier only: focusing like it should, on genuine authentic male sporting failure.
