How many cousins do you have/ your DC have?

It's behind a paywall sorry but basically it says due to declining birthrates children born now are much less likely to have lots of cousins. I think down from average 7 to 5 but falling quite a bit. The article argues that this means children have less peers their age in family gatherings to play with and smaller networks.

I find it very interesting as I have 13 cousins but I'm not very close to any of them as an adult. My DC have 4 for now but probably 7 or 8 once everyone is done. I'm quite glad they have quite a few cousins but perhaps we are becoming more unusual as all our siblings have kids or intend to.

None, both my parents are only children. Mum has 5, still in touch with most, some live closer and nearer to her age so closer to them. Dad had 2/3, only 1 still living. In sporadic contact, mostly just at Christmas.

My kids have none. Me, no idea.

I have 46 (yes 46) cousins

My 2 DCs have 4 cousins.

I have 3, even though my dad was one of three.

My dad had about 30 cousins because both his parents had 5 brothers and sisters and they all had DCs.

My mum only has 1 cousin.

DN has 3 through SIL.

I have 28 cousins, my dc have 6 first cousins but all of my cousins children are considered cousins too, they are all very close.

DC have 6 cousins, unlikely to have any more.
I also have 6. DH has a ridiculous number due to his mum being one of about 12 children and his dad being one of about 8. It takes him about ten minutes to work out how many he has.

There’s 17 years between my dad and his nearest sibling, so my cousins that side (6) are closer in age to him than to me. We didn’t grow up together.

On my mum’s side I’m the eldest of 6 cousins (so I have 4 cousins and one sibling). They were 200 miles away so I didn’t grow up with them either.

DD has one cousin on my side (10 years younger) and 6 on her dad’s side (all younger). They’re 250 miles away so she isn’t growing up with them either.

I had 20 some have sadly died, mum came from a large family. On my dads side I don't know we are not in contact.

Yes I have some older cousins on my Dad's side I probably couldn't pick out of a line up but some closer in age I still see at weddings etc. Both my DC have cousins 6 months older/ younger so I am hoping they will be close-ish.

I have 25 first cousins. My children 2.

I have about 30!Not uncommon when I was growing up Ireland of the 80s. We saw some of them growing up . Don't really see them now , family feud with my parents generation .My kids have 2 who they see regularly .

Actually that was just my dad’s side I have 2 on my mums side. 🤣 my oldest cousin is 9 years older than me and the youngest is 30 years younger.

I have 3 but I wouldn’t know them if they walked past me.

My sons have one cousin on my side. He lives very far away but they are all friendly and have a good catch up when we meet up.
They have seven in DH on side. Three live close by and they see each other all the time, go to the pub together help out with cars and stuff like that.

Two are in Australia so we only see them where go over and two live in the south of England while we live in the north so only see each other at wedding, Christenings and funerals generally.

I have 6. My children have 4 so far and 2 step cousins. Maybe 1 or 2 more will arrive.

my husband has many cousins, he has 3 with the same name who are differentiated by location! (Eg Paul Jones Sheffield, Paul jones Doncaster etc)

I’ve got 9 first cousins - I see 4/5 of them but no really others. DH has about 20 or more. My children have four and hardly see them but they do see my cousin’s children.

I have 12 cousins.

My DC have none and are unlikely to have any in the future. They are the only children in the family.

I've got 5.
DD has 5.
DH has 10.

I have 8 cousins and currently 12 nieces and nephews, but I also have 5 brothers so my family will be messing with the average.

I have 8 cousins I only see them at weddings and funerals.. My children have 5 plus two second cousins, all of them we see regularly, even now they are young adults. My dad had something like 60 first cousins, both his parents were from big families. I don’t know how many cousins my mum had, her family was a bit odd.

I have 30 first cousins all from my Dad's side as my mum was an only child .My kids have 6 first cousins but the last two are way younger so there isn't much of a relationship there .

I have 24 cousins and was very close to many of them growing up. My DH has 2 whom he is also close with. My children have 3 cousins but they all live in different countries so they don’t see each other very often, maybe once a year. It’s a shame as I think cousins are fantastic.
