I find it completely mind boggling that alcohol is accepted as normal by society.

If a new drug or food was invented tomorrow that made people act the same way they did whilst on alcohol it would be banned, not sold in supermarkets with your weekly food shop.

Agree, I wish it didn't exist tbh

Flying above the clouds in a metal tube.

Setting fire to a small white stick to inhale the smoke.

(Not at the same time.)

Oh those were the days....

VeloHostage · 09/07/2025 17:11

Circumcision.

CiaoMeow · 09/07/2025 17:13

Constantly being sold to - in your home, on your laptop and phone, outside, everywhere you go.

SunnySideUK77 · 09/07/2025 17:13

IIUDs - a Mirena coil would be the perfect solution to contraception through perimenopause until the age of 55. After 2 births both ways, a third degree tear, taking care of the contraception for the last 30 years, many smears, colposcopies, LLETZ treatment and biopsies and the oh so enjoyable ‘sweep’ to get my second birth going. FUCK RIGHT OFF from thinking you are going to inset and actual object into my womb that I can’t remove myself.

also Ironing. Fuck off again.

Adults sitting at desks for hours a day

That we accept the repeated payment of tax, on the same damn money !

We get wages taxed, then we pay tax on what we buy with our wages.

We pay tax on savings and investments and are taxed again on our pensions, as well as an extra tax if we take over a certain amount as a lump sum from our pensions.

We are taxed on any inheritance over a certain amount.

It goes on and on. Everything we earn, we end up paying repeated tax on, again and again.

Then, to top it all off, our pension (government) can't even be transferred to your spouse upon death ! So you pay into your govt pension, for at least 35 yrs to qualify for the full amount, but if you pop your clogs at retirement age, the govt gets to keep all you paid in !

And finally, you get taxed again paying for your damn funeral !

Having to actually buy a tiny piece of earth. Who decided it was for sale?

Isthisnormal10000 · 09/07/2025 17:14

Brands. Like a t shirt with armani written on it can be 20 times more expensive than the same style t shirt without. Madness.

JHound · 09/07/2025 17:14

Male circumcision.

Transphobia/homophobia. I hate that this is normalised. Anyone who is transphobic or homophobic should be publicly shamed.

lol at you pointlessly quoting “cheese on a stick” here.Grin

You need a dictionary. Infanticide is the killing of a young child within a year of its BIRTH, not the safe medical removal of an unwanted foetus.

That’s a good one - the foundation stone of modern economies and work patterns (also sexism). I recommend ‘Owning the Earth’ by Linklater.

Adults sitting at desks for hours a day

True, but adults have some choice in that.

Also, yes to the PP on tax…including having to save up post-tax earnings simply to pay tax on things like stamp duty.

Privatisation - stripping away a country’s infrastructure.

Cricket.

Sport in general.

I like it, but it's all pretty weird when you think about it.

DrowningInSyrup · 09/07/2025 17:21

Human hair extensions. Strapping another human's hair to your head just seems gross.
