Keeping a dog in a cage inside your house.

That's not normal anywhere tho is it.

For those insisting that adopted children suffer trauma, the following from The British Psychological Society is interesting.....
'The children were mostly secure and happy with a strong sense of identify and belonging to their family, irrespective of whether or not they were fostered long-term, adopted or returned home. Placement stability, rather than placement type, appeared to be the most critical factor in understanding the positive outcome profile, as it enabled the formation and maintenance of secure attachment relationships with parents/carers.'

Stop proselytising. This isn't an abortion thread. Stop trying to force women to give birth. That's traumatising for the women. Women with unwanted pregnancies have the option of carrying the baby to term and having it adopted. But it should be her choice to do so. Not because abortion has been banned by anti-abortion zealots like you.

It's very, very common - although they're normally used at night or for puppy training purposes/to keep them out if the way at certain times... rather than like with animals who basically live in a cage 24/7.

Depends what you mean. It has become far too normalised and it is now socially acceptable to crate puppies as a "training" method.

...Just to add, I have big reservations about people keeping dogs in cages at all (unless they're known to be dangerously out of control and can't be sedated) - although I'm not a dog owner.

My comment was purely that I know a lot of people do make that choice.

I am a dog owner and I'm against crating (unless for medical reasons or travel), hence my first comment.

Alcoholism being a UK “culture” thing. Especially in Ireland and Scotland.

Men having 5 wives but women can only have one husband, just the inequality.

Why would you want 5 husbands… ones bad enough!!! 😀

🙄

We wanted to. We fought for the right to do this and to be paid the same as men. It took a while.

You really think women should be kept at home and not allowed to work?

FYI, Rastafarian women are given a weeks rest when they are on their period. They still have to do their day job, but the men do everything else. The woman doesn't lift a finger at home for a week.

The land grab by Europeans in Palestine

deeahgwitch · 12/07/2025 16:22

That carers, who care for the most loved “things” we have, ie other people not actual things, be they for the young, the sick or the aged are paid so little in comparison to someone in say, marketing, acting, the film industry or advertising.
Ditto firemen and women and first responders including members of the police. They should be paid far more
It’s just mad.

Not nowadays, but it used to be accepted that you smoked in the GP surgery and in the hospital wards.
Then it changed from your bed in the ward to the hospital day room!!!!!
Then banished altogether.

Thank goodness...

My dad remembers going to the doctors in the 60’s and the doctor always had a fag on the go, an overflowing ashtray and a glass of whiskey at whatever time he went in. His old school friend also remembers it and says the doctor once gave him the money to go to the shop and get him a box of 20 fags.

Another one for me is how children are now so penned in everywhere and not given the freedom to explore (obviously within reason and for their age). I do think it impacts on their mental health and also on their adult life as they haven’t learnt to adapt or be aware of unpredictable situations that can occur.

There have been a couple of posts about this and you're absolutely right.
I recall that there was a human milk ice cream made somewhere and many people reacting with revulsion about this.
But cows milk? Fine!

Very weird!

Yep it was in Leicester Sq in London
the ice cream was called “Baby Gaga”. It was banned because of a risk of transmitting HIV.

Lins77 · 09/07/2025 16:52

I don't think people generally accept that as normal.

Some clearly are. It’s openly being allowed to happen.

ladymalfoy45 · 09/07/2025 16:57

Fucking vocal fry.

Exactly this! It’s the most annoying thing I have ever heard…..

another one is how so many women want to look like Kim kardashians plastic version of her self.

Leila2022 · 12/07/2025 18:26

Boris Johnson. That anyone has ever wanted to reproduce with this guy.

Nope, but it would be nice to have a choice. Not everyone's the same.

Why is that weird? How else would you fund roads, hospitals, education etc etc?

Yes, you're absolutely right.

And same here about the doctors. Our doctor sat smoking too and used to offer my mum one, which she took!!!
