That women go through menstruation every month and give birth and breastfeed and yet we're just basically supposed to get on with full time work and everything else.

If it would suit you better you could marry into one of the more obscure Muslim/African cultures and when it is your time of the month you can sit in a little hut on your own away from the village for the duration!

Religion in schools.

Agree - plus the fact about some people, who do none of this, think they are entitled to be called women because they like to dress up!

Snogging, with tongues...

2boyzNosleep · 09/07/2025 22:31

Money.

We all work for a random number to be put into our bank account, to then use this to live your life. Its become even more baffling as time has gone on, moving from actual gold/silver/bronze coins, to plated steel and paper notes, to basically being virtual.

When I think about it, I find it infuriated that a simple number can control your entire life and people give it so much status/worth. Just because someone has millions/billions of money, does not make them a good person or someone aspiring.

Our lives revolve around money so much that people are losing/lost basic survival skills. There are too many people that dont know how to cook simple basic meals, let alone grow their own food, preserve food, forage. No idea how to mend clothes, what essentials are needed to survive in nature following a natural disaster, how make water safe to drink, etc, the list goes on.

Btw- I can cook and maybe make some pickled beetroot, but do none of the other things ive mentioned 😃

Horse riding. Imagine taking any other animal, strapping a metal bit in its mouth, sitting on its back and then making it jump over objects, run at top speed, pull a heavy carriage along or prance around an arena in front of crowds purely for human entertainment. I genuinely don’t get why horse riding is still seen as ethically acceptable in this day and age.

Because of the ancient social bond between horse and mankind. Horses enjoy it (obviously if properly treated) just like humans enjoy working in a useful and decent job. It gives life a purpose.

Religion, I mean come on, it's not the dark ages

The dark ages started round about 500 after Jesus died and there was many many religions before.

How do we know horses enjoy it?

Cathmawr · 09/07/2025 22:34

That we drink cow breast milk. Also that women 'should' remove their body hair. So weird when you think about it

IridiumSky · 09/07/2025 22:36

Flying above the clouds in a metal tube.

Setting fire to a small white stick to inhale the smoke.

(Not at the same time.)

I came here to say the same thing. i.e. travelling around the planet in a pressurised metal can.

Oh, and I’m old enough to remember when people did do both your examples at the same time. 🙄

IridiumSky · 09/07/2025 22:41

Selling much of the one life one has to others, in exchange for (at least formerly) pieces of coloured paper.

pinkstripeycat · 09/07/2025 22:42

Strobbery · 09/07/2025 15:50

🙄

We wanted to. We fought for the right to do this and to be paid the same as men. It took a while.

You really think women should be kept at home and not allowed to work?

I don’t want to work. I never did. I wanted and still want to stay at home and cook nice meals and be with my children. I was lucky as I was a SAHM until DC2 was 4 and got an evening job so I could drop and pick to and from school. They are adults know and I still want to fuss over them.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 09/07/2025 22:50

Changing your last name to someone else’s if you marry them.
so weird.
like, would we dye our hair to match theirs so we look like a family?

RosesAndHellebores · 09/07/2025 22:50

That the people in charge thought it was OK to put 2000 young people into institutions called comprehensives and expected them to sink or swim. One size does not fit all. Even worse that parents went along with it.

I'm.pretty sure that in a generation or two there will be significant research to indicate that this is the major cause for the escalating mh issues in young people.

That 40% of young people need a degree. No way are 40% of the available jobs graduate jobs.

MidnightMeltdown · 09/07/2025 23:03

Land ownership. Who has the right to claim it and sell it? Must have all been stolen originally.

Even more weird is that you can buy land on the moon. Who has the right to claim and sell that? Can I set myself up as a Moon seller?!

HumanRightsAreHumanRights · 09/07/2025 23:10

The attitude towards casual murder for everyone except criminals.

Maternityleavelady · 09/07/2025 23:12

That humans need to sleep for approximately 1/3 of every 24 hours in order to function. You wouldn’t accept this from a machine. The entire concept of sleep is just weird to me. Even though I love it, obviously!

It’s not a concept, it’s a biological requirement…

Ha yes! With pineapple or a tiny pickled onion!

Cheese and pineapple - who on earth made that up!

Are you Abigail and are you having a party?

People say this a lot, the 'one size doesn't fit all' thing. How many 'sizes' do you think you can reasonable cater to in one school, whether it's a comprehensive or not? As far as I can see, the only way to truly cater to individuals is home schooling. Parents can do that. They don't have to send their children to a comprehensive (or any other kind of) school.

It was a big 60s and 70s thing, like smashed avocado is a thing in recent years. In 50 years time or whatever your grandchildren will be sneering at smashed avocado, as you're doing!

NPET · 09/07/2025 23:34

That tiny object hanging between a man's or a boy's legs.

Hedgehogbrown · 09/07/2025 23:39

Lifelover16 · 09/07/2025 16:17

Working 5 days a week - who decided that was “normal” full time hours? Why not 4, or 3.5? Was it plucked out of thin air?

It was definitely designed for men who had wives / housekeepers at home.

Jollyhockeystickss · 09/07/2025 23:39

That women are objects and have to be given to a man from her father and that women then have to change their name, and that we then have to buy a wedding present even tho its her third marriage, getting married in white coz youre a virgin!

Hedgehogbrown · 09/07/2025 23:40

Father Christmas and lying to your child's face until they are 10 or even secondary school age nowadays! The fact everyone goes out of their way to justify it.. It's like some sort of mass psychosis.
