Oasis. Heaton Park. What do I do?

LunaDeBallona · 02/07/2025 23:11

Got tickets for one of the concerts when they were released last year.
Got two tickets- one for disabled daughter + AN other.
DD was taking friend. Friend now can’t go - so I have to go.
No problem with that apart from the fact when I’m going anywhere , I plan everything in advance, pay for parking/hotel , print everything off etc .
I do this because I have terrible arthritis in my knee and can’t walk far.

I don’t know Manchester, have no idea where to park , how to get to Heaton Park. All hotels are booked or £500 it seems.
What TF do I do?
Where can I park? I’m going to look at getting public transport in as close as I can but I’ve got no idea where anything is in Manchester or what to do.
DD is now spiralling picking up on my panic.
Ive got to sort out care for dog & husband as well which I can do but my main worry is getting to the venue in time and getting back to car after concert.

Does anybody have any local knowledge who can advise me please?

Hello everybody.
I’ve been busy with work & dealing with my disabled husband so I haven’t been on here.
But what lovely people you are.
Some of the offers are so kind! ♥️
Ive taken the advice and link from @gdclarke and booked a space in a school car park (thank you gd!) which is even closer than the drive I originally got as frankly the park looks bloody huge and just navigating that will be a bit of an ask.
Ive been contacting ticket master who after 17 emails to and fro have finally confirmed that there will be seating on the accessible platform ( thank god. Hope it’s a recliner!) but can’t advise as to wether or not I can take DDs drinks in ( autistic, fussy). I just hope they don’t stop me at the gates - I really don’t want to have to kick off and quote the disability act to them.

You are all lovely and I wish I could take you all in with me.

Yes the park is huge!
Enjoy I saw them in 2000( I think🤔) at the Reebok stadium in Bolton they were fab I'm jealous!

You're welcome!

Here's another link for the gig support. It says about medicinal needs etc.

That’s great news they’ve put on parking for accessible parking. So they should.

the parking times entry and exit times are long. Assume you and your daughter will be ok sat in the car? You'll prob be happy for the seats and pack yourselves a before and after picnic

have a fantastic time!

Local here, I’d get the tram there. But on the way back take the shuttle bus or something else

gdclarke · 09/07/2025 21:14

If that link does not work, you should have an email from Ticketmaster fan support.
I got one early this afternoon.

Viobioscore48 · 12/07/2025 08:45

Hi OP, Please will you let us know how you get on? Just reading about people leaving the first gig last night (via Facebook- Oasis group). Might be useful reading for info.

OnTheBoardwalk · 12/07/2025 22:09

Yes please @LunaDeBallona let us know how you and your daughter got on tomorrow. Hope you both have had a fabulous time

i can hear it from my house, sounds like a great night

ParmaViolletts · 12/07/2025 22:30

Op hopefully it's all worked out let us know how it went

x2boys · 13/07/2025 12:49

Do they close off the entire park?
I'm from Bury so know Heaton park we'll, I have seen reports of people gathering in local pubs and i think out side of the park to listen .

OnTheBoardwalk · 13/07/2025 13:00

@x2boys not sure if just outside the park but there's the newly named Gallagher Hill where hundreds sat and watched the big screens inside the concert from

Think they'll stop that for the next gigs. There was a big push to get people into fan zones in Mcr city centre to try and stop people without tickets going to Heaton Park

Thank you! That looks to me like it's actually in the park.

OnTheBoardwalk · 13/07/2025 13:35

Yeah and makes sense in relation to the Oasis map and where the boat lake is.

gonna cost them a lot of money if they have to double fence off more of the park

Oasis. Heaton Park. What do I do?
x2boys · 13/07/2025 13:41

It certainly will I bet they saw just as much as some of those with tickets I saw them at the Reebok stadium in 2000 and we
were so far away from the stage we could only really see the screens.

Parklifer · 13/07/2025 17:27

Gallagher Hill is in the park itself. It's actually a bit that's already fenced off as it houses a herd of Highland cattle, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do put security along the existing fences for the next gigs.

But if you're happy just to listen rather than watch then you can access most of the park up to about 9pm, and the sound is loud and clear all around the park. Lots of people doing just that, judging by the massively increased pedestrian footfall on my usual after dinner walk.

Interesting so how much of the park is fenced off ?

Parklifer · 14/07/2025 08:38

@x2boys The security fenced Parklife/Oasis site comprises the Papal field, plus some bits round the back of the lake. Basically most of the corner of park from the Heaton Park tram entrance, round the Sheepfoot Lane x Bury Old road entrance, and finishes near the entrance halfway down Sheepfoot Lane. So probably 3/4 of the park is still accessible on gig evenings, although you can't get in after about 20.30 (normally the small pedestrian entrance I use is open until 21.15 at least).

If you read about people going over fences to access Gallagher Hill they mean regular farm fences, not the big security ones. If you fancy doing that be mindful of the cowpats!

OnTheBoardwalk · 14/07/2025 18:20

@Parklifer how do the people who are in the park on Gallagher hill and elsewhere get out after the gig if the entrances close at 21.15? Asking for a friend and possibly @x2boys 🤣🤣

Lol.I wondered that 😂😂

IReallyLoveItHere · 14/07/2025 19:39

The roads were closed and the tram will be packed anyway.

The Manchester-Liverpool line might be your best bet. You could park at birchwood or Newton le willows or similar and get train in then shuttle bus. Hotels round there would be pretty cheap.

CareerChange24 · 14/07/2025 19:58

TheChosenTwo · 02/07/2025 23:12

Can you book your own transport to drop you off and pick you up again?

I got transport. The roads are blocked off so you can’t get dropped off close by. Even more roads are blocked off after 9:30. I have had spinal surgery so struggle with walking and it was a 45 minute walk to the entrance and round the park to where you stand and an hour walk out

Parklifer · 14/07/2025 20:28

@OnTheBoardwalk The actual security fenced off ticketed bit has its own exits not available to other parkgoers due to the fencing. Security go rounding up the stragglers in the rest of the park same as every other night (I am a regular late evening parkgoer due to work shifts) and open the gates as they leave without letting people in. Obviously there are a lot more evening parkgoers now so I don't know if a people's rebellion would succeed...

I can hear everything very clearly from my garden so won't be joining you!

Parklifer · 15/07/2025 13:26

little update for those asking for a friend...our neighbourhood Whatsapp had shared video from Gallagher Hill, and they were still in there right until the end of the gig - obviously too many people for security to turf out safely! I ran past that part of the park today and there's no additional fencing other than the farm fencing right now, although obviously that might change.

x2boys · 15/07/2025 15:56

Just read on Facebook a fence has been erected around Gallagher Hill spoilsport, s 🤣
