Oasis. Heaton Park. What do I do?

LunaDeBallona · 02/07/2025 23:11

Got tickets for one of the concerts when they were released last year.
Got two tickets- one for disabled daughter + AN other.
DD was taking friend. Friend now can’t go - so I have to go.
No problem with that apart from the fact when I’m going anywhere , I plan everything in advance, pay for parking/hotel , print everything off etc .
I do this because I have terrible arthritis in my knee and can’t walk far.

I don’t know Manchester, have no idea where to park , how to get to Heaton Park. All hotels are booked or £500 it seems.
What TF do I do?
Where can I park? I’m going to look at getting public transport in as close as I can but I’ve got no idea where anything is in Manchester or what to do.
DD is now spiralling picking up on my panic.
Ive got to sort out care for dog & husband as well which I can do but my main worry is getting to the venue in time and getting back to car after concert.

Does anybody have any local knowledge who can advise me please?

Don’t be so silly, and don’t be so naive to believe everything you ‘apparently’ hear.

Nobody has thrown bottles of piss at gigs/festivals since the 90s, (and even then o think only at possibly Reading festival which is known for being a bit rough) just because Oasis have reformed I don’t think we’re reverting to this happening.

Edited

Hopefully. I'm probably still traumatised by the near constant cups of piss throwing at Heaton Park about 16 years ago! 😂

I would book the premier inn Bury(doesn't look fully booked) park on QPark next to that (loads of capacity) and the tram with direct trams to Heaton park is right over the road.
Live and work in Bury.sure someone else has already suggested as not read full thread.
Good luck

The tram closes a full hour before the gig ends.

TheChosenTwo · 04/07/2025 09:18

Glad you got it sorted, have a fantastic night. I’m so jealous!!
There are some resale tickets for the date of my birthday in a few months time but we are a family of 5 who all want to go together and we can’t seem to get 5 together, will keep trying though. Dh has seen them quite a few times in his youth, I was meant to go once but the dds were poorly, he went because it was his friends who were going and I was going to tag along 😭

Hi. I live 10, 15 mins walk from the park. I'm going friday woo hoo.
There will be parking spaces on back roads away from the park ( just dont block a drive) there are local permits for householders at least a mile , mile half area around park.
Hope you get sorted.
You can call a local cab 0161 773 7373 when you get a spot.

UnicornRainbowPoos · 04/07/2025 09:52

You can use this for infromation - https://tfgm.com/getting-to-oasis-manchester - there are shuttle buses running that you need to pre book, and then you could park somewhere slightly out of the city, but still on the tramlines - maybe Bury, the shuttle buses are going from Victoria which is the last stop on the tram line from Bury so wouldn't be much walking. Have a look at this post from MEN regarding the entry gates, accessible entry and shuttle bus drop offs - https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1A17EeyF6V/

Hope that helps! Have an amazing time, slightly jealous that you managed to get tickets - enjoy it and allow yourself plenty of time to get there and be kind to yourself xox

Glad you got sorted @LunaDeBallona it does sound a perfect solution for you. Just make sure you get any visitor permits off them in advance if needed

i'm another one to say please don’t offer advice on a thread if you don’t know the area/whats going on

no the trams don’t stop an hour before the gig. The are putting extra late night trams on. All they are doing is closing one stop so they can do better crowd control at the bigger one

BoredZelda · 04/07/2025 10:28

Borrow a wheelchair. At a recent concert I ended up helping two women in a similar situation. They had accounted for getting there but not for the walking around the venue and to their seats. The venue will have somewhere you can stash the wheelchair if you have seated tickets.

redthefraggle · 04/07/2025 13:19

I'm a local that goes regularly to Heaton Park and am also disabled. I've never attended a gig there but know the queues to get in are a pain. Once you're in the park however, there are benches everywhere so you'll be able to stop and rest regularly.

Does anyone know what the queues are like if you go in later, ie once the support acts have started? Is it any easier? If so, that may be an option for you.

Its not the ‘normal’ day to day park and layout though. Places are closed off.

i’m going and certain tickets go in different entrances. It’s also always a distance being herded in and out the park a certain way. Queues will be constantly flowing as people arrive through the afternoon/ evening weather dependant too.

The gig isn’t in the main park area where there are benches everywhere :)

It’s an outdoor gig in a park, a wheelchair might be useful though :)

Hiya lovely. I live on one of the roads opposite to Heaton park. If you give me a message I may be able to help you out :) x

Nibletteski · 05/07/2025 07:22

Hi, I live a 25min walk away from the park. Could you msg me- we have a spare double room we were going to rent out for the gig and a private drive you can park on. I am disabled myself so understand the stress this must be causing. It will work out dont worry too much!

WorthySloth · 05/07/2025 07:26

If it helps we booked the big green coach from Birmingham to Wembley to see linkin park and it was totally stress free. If they have a pick up anywhere near you it’s well worth looking into.

There are a lot of residential streets in Chorlton now far from the tram that don’t have parking restrictions. You could park up near by. Or you could use just park and rent someones driveway, then get the tram.

OnTheBoardwalk · 06/07/2025 23:26

I live not far from Heaton park and can guarantee most people living in the area will not be offering lifts or help during the gigs. They'l be say happy inside their house with all the roads, including bury new road all blocked off

Angrymum22 · 06/07/2025 23:58

So glad you have sorted out parking. Make sure you find out about the road closures. DS went to the Cardiff concert yesterday, however he is at Uni down there so already had accommodation and knows his way around. The roads around the stadium were closed at 12pm ( it’s a regular occurrence due to rugby internationals).
He thoroughly enjoyed the concert but went straight to bed on his return, so I can’t tell you whether urine was an issue. He was seated but I’m sure he would have been able to see if it was being thrown around.
One option for you if you didn’t want to drive there and back the same day is to look at student halls of residence. Some of the unis rent them out over the summer to holiday makers. You may be able to stay somewhere close the night before and on the night of the event so you are not exhausted by a long drive. Maybe look at hotels outside of Manchester either off the M62 or M6. The main thing is to park up very early don’t underestimate how busy the roads will be. DS said that they were queuing back to the Severn bridge to get into Cardiff. Fortunately they know the alternative routes into Cardiff so avoided a lot of the traffic.
Apparently the station was also very busy, but it is the obvious mode of travel since the station is close to the stadium, not the case for the Heaton Park concerts.

Mark71 · 07/07/2025 04:12

There’s a car park that’s empty where I live so it’s free to you I’m on bury new rd and it’s for our road only ! You can park your car there and just get a taxi £5 if that and one back to car park . Message me if that’s ok and no it’s not reserved or full so you can park there free it’s about 1/2 mile from park . If you’re struggling msg me, gathered a hotel premier inn on bury new road but act fast it will get booked , the village hotel bury is ideal as taxi to tram not far £5 then tram direct outside the parks entrance in park and the same out or taxi to village hotel .

Mark71 · 07/07/2025 04:19

If you’re stuck ask and help will be available ! It’s the first Saturday gig isn’t it .
don’t forget the parking in the car park end of my street / road it’s empty and no one uses it as no one knows it’s here .
if your stuck for a lift don’t worry it can be sorted I’m not far and your cars safe and then drive to you’re hotel .

What a lovely thread, I had posted about the metrolink but realise it’s not needed now so have edited it. I hope you enjoy your night!

Oasis. Heaton Park. What do I do?
LunaDeBallona · 09/07/2025 20:46

Hello everybody.
I’ve been busy with work & dealing with my disabled husband so I haven’t been on here.
But what lovely people you are.
Some of the offers are so kind! ♥️
Ive taken the advice and link from @gdclarke and booked a space in a school car park (thank you gd!) which is even closer than the drive I originally got as frankly the park looks bloody huge and just navigating that will be a bit of an ask.
Ive been contacting ticket master who after 17 emails to and fro have finally confirmed that there will be seating on the accessible platform ( thank god. Hope it’s a recliner!) but can’t advise as to wether or not I can take DDs drinks in ( autistic, fussy). I just hope they don’t stop me at the gates - I really don’t want to have to kick off and quote the disability act to them.

You are all lovely and I wish I could take you all in with me.

So glad to hear that you have sorted out parking!! I am on one of the roads literally opposite the park so if you have any issues when getting out or you need anything at all just drop me a message and as long as I or someone is there we will be more than happy to help💞
