What is something that is popular but is also something that you detest. It can be anything.

Picky bits - can’t fucking stand that phrase
Blake Lively - no, do not and have never got the hype. Rich nepo baby D list actress.
Love Island - trash
Dog/cats being pushed around in prams- if it has working legs, it can walk
Protein products - UPF advertised to the masses as “health” food to make a huge profit. Just eat whole foods that are high in protein.

You?

The word ‘gosh’ 🤢 Well I don’t actually hear anyone say it in RL but it’s always used on mumsnet.

I use it when I want to swear but I’m with my polite yoga friends.

He's been in the news lately with his vineyard in NZ, I think. Someone was bigging him up.

I’m glad I missed that!

Wall posters or plaques saying “follow your dreams”.
And ones saying “you don’t have to be mad to work here but it helps”.

The cupcake thing is mine too. In general, the trend for cakes/cookies loaded with chocolate bars etc. Or those cookie/brownie things either seventy four layers.

I love baking, but I’m a very traditional baker. I can’t wrap my head around chocolate on icing on cake with chocolate filling. 🤯

I agree.

I'd add to my previous list: chocolate everything.

I like chocolate more than the next person, but I don't want everything flavoured with it. Chocolate hot-cross buns are a good example. That's not a hot-cross bun - so invent a new type of confectionary for it.

In the days when I used to help with charity/school cake stalls, I was always sad that 80% of people couldn't see further than chocolate brownies. There'd be lovely sponges, fruit cakes, lemon cakes, coffee and walnut, banana loaves, carrot cakes, almond and orange cakes...but very few people wanted them. I don't mind a brownie myself, but it's not the only cake in the world!

People who can't express an opinion without adding "to be honest".

Making clean washing pong to high heaven of cheap artificial fragrance - what’s with people spending money on products that solely make their clothes smell like that?? Those scent beads are the devil’s handiwork 😂

Petrie999 · 01/07/2025 09:50

Smashed avocado. Disgusting. I like them in solid form.

TinyTear · 01/07/2025 09:51

Hot tubs
Lip fillers
Fake nails - especially extra long - how do they wipe their bottoms?
Septum piercings (cow rings)
Facial or neck tattoos
Cucumber

lydgjhsCSBCH · 01/07/2025 09:57

Make up tattooed on your face. Particularly eyebrows. Tattoos in general actually. They don't age well and they are hard to get rid off.

Theyreeatingthedogs · 01/07/2025 09:57

Nigel Farage. The orange monster. Boris Johnson.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 01/07/2025 09:58

The use of the phrase "folks" by British folks 😄
The royals
Pointless celebs (not the TV show)
Rap/rappers especially twonks like Kanye

Weepixie · 01/07/2025 10:00

These two phrases

pension pot
due diligence.

I thought l was odd for thinking this. I love avocado just halved and sprinkled with lemon juice but l can’t think of anything worse than it mushed up, or on toast with bacon. And l hate guacamole !!

MikeRafone · 01/07/2025 10:02

People with no manners
where are these people popular?

hevs03 · 01/07/2025 10:02

*Tattoos

*Younger generation living their lives on their phone's, especially the taking of 100's of photo's of themselves doing nothing just posing (I don't get it)

*The need to keep up with all trends to follow the crowd whether it is a food trend (Dubai chocolate), aesthetic (bushy pushed up eyebrows), the matching family outfits (Christmas PJ's) just seems to be a lack of individuality

Yes I sound miserable 😀

Onleemoi · 01/07/2025 10:02

Moaning about dogs.

Wolfpinkola · 01/07/2025 10:02

Ed Sheeran

Rosscameasdoody · 01/07/2025 10:04

Adele. Whingeing to music.

MikeRafone · 01/07/2025 10:07

I dislike the phrase or adjective

"like" she is coming over for like dinner, at about like 6.30 and will bring her like dog

I hear many people use this phrase

or "ones" which replace the actual name of the item or stuff

I'll have two of those ones

WestwardHo1 · 01/07/2025 10:10

Virtue signallers going on and on about Gaza while completely ignoring the existence of other war zones.

Davidson89 · 01/07/2025 10:12

JudgeJ · 01/07/2025 10:12

HeddaGarbled · 30/06/2025 23:35

Peanut butter

Can I add satay sauce? Anything peanut, almond or banana flavoured even though I love all three on their own!

80smonster · 01/07/2025 10:14

The current Labour government, specifically Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner. What a gruesome twosome.

Don't forget Rachel Reeves! (And I'm a lifelong Labour supporter!)
