What is something that is popular but is also something that you detest. It can be anything.

Picky bits - can’t fucking stand that phrase
Blake Lively - no, do not and have never got the hype. Rich nepo baby D list actress.
Love Island - trash
Dog/cats being pushed around in prams- if it has working legs, it can walk
Protein products - UPF advertised to the masses as “health” food to make a huge profit. Just eat whole foods that are high in protein.

You?

The current Labour government, specifically Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner. What a gruesome twosome.

Are they popular?

Almond paste,
Marzipan
Battenburg
Almond flavoured ice cream.
I'm weird(I know)because I like actual almonds but when their turned into marzipan or used in Ice-cream 👎.

Snap, ditto bananas, banofee pie, vomit on a plate!
Fruit flavoured cheese, why ruin a lovely bit of Wensleydale, Lancashire or whatever with fruit in it and don't even mention the Christmas time abominations, Christmas pudding flavoured cheese.

Duck Lips
Avocado 😱

People who take out their phones and start filming at the site of accidents/incidents. This is often the worst, most excruciating time of someone's life - not an opportunity to film it for your entertainment or sm likes.

There were pictures on the press recently about the fires in parts of Greece, instead of getting to safety many were there with their phones as the flames moved towards them. Yes, I am aware that someone must of filmed the filmers!

RaraRachael · 01/07/2025 10:21

Nail art
Holidaying in Dubai
Music festivals
Netflix
Avocado

Fetchthevet · 01/07/2025 10:24

Sorry, another one who dislikes tattoos here. Surely they must go out of fashion soon? I'm hoping they will become untrendy before my DD reaches 18.

JudgeJ · 01/07/2025 10:26

Christmas season -seems to start in November

As late as that? Most supermarkets seem to start in October if not earlier.

Cupcakes with a ton of gloopy icing on top
Bumpy or raised nail art
ketchup etc slathered over a meal
Sauce or gravy poured over something that’s meant to be crispy eg puff pastry

Gravy almost anywhere.

HappilyDivorced89 · 01/07/2025 10:28

Beyonce
Avocado in general
Ripped jeans - especially ones that cost a fortune - why pay through the nose to look like you're homeless!!
Sports tournaments that take up all the TV time (football, Wimbledon, I'm looking at you!)
Carrie Bradshaw in SATC
Matcha - nope, tried it a couple of times and don't get the hype.

Tends to be the stroke of midnight on Nov 1st. That's one upside to the commercialisation of Halloween.

They have been going since the Vikings if not before so going out of fashion entirely is unlikely. Possible lull in current fascination.

Yep, I saw biting insects earlier in the thread. Since when are they popular 😅

That was me. if they aren't popular, why are there so many?

Answer me that.

(PS: yes I forgot it was meant to be popular things).

ExercicenformedeZ · 01/07/2025 10:29

The new SATC. What's the point? The old one was of its time, it really didn't need an update.

I used to work in BHS and it was October we started setting up the Christmas shop stock (towards the end of the day/at night after we'd closed up). Strangely enough, I'm still actually a big fan of Christmas.

Agree - did they really need to change Miranda's whole character?! I've only seen seasons 1 and 2 so far...not sure I want to watch anymore.

Sex. Yes an orgasm is nice enough I suppose but it’s such a palaver and a messy time waster with a man involved. Then they almost want a round of applause afterwards.

Rosscameasdoody · 01/07/2025 10:32

People who say:

Going forward - what’s wrong with in future ?
I have eyes on that - you mean you’re monitoring it ?
I have a window in my schedule - well jump out of it and find your diary !
My bad - sorry is the word you’re looking for.

People who:

Use the word ‘like’ as a linguistic filler - it’s even written in SM posts now FFS !!
Use the word ‘literally’ when they’re speaking figuratively.
Insist on the Americanisation of the word ‘speciality’ to specialty.
Use Irregardless when they mean irrespective of.
Say pacifically instead of specifically.
Use partially instead of partly - partially means taking sides.
Say referencing instead of referring to.

And my all time pet hate should of, instead of should have.

Johnny Depp. Grotesque old man.

People that throw around the words 'toxic', 'narcissistic', 'boundaries', 'gaslighting', 'DARVO'. You're not a psychologist. Stop pretending you know what you're on about.

Chicken (not the animal, the meat). Makes me gag.

Hobbyists who pretend their hobby is a career while living off benefits / parents / husband / wife. Just get a job.

The Tory party. Pretending they're a political party when really they're just an organisation designed to make the rich, richer and keep the poor/working class underfoot.

Prince Charles (although now he's older, I find him slightly less annoying). Pampered, spoiled, massively over-self-important, opinionated little rich boy/old man. William not a lot better.

Smoked fish. Tastes like old fags to me (used to love it, now hate it).

Masculinity. It's just a guise to allow those that adhere to it to be selfish arses who always put themselves first. I don't dislike men in general. But those who are very invested in being masculine are almost always selfish tw*ts. Regular blokes who do equal parenting, keep their living environment clean and aren't talentless tits at work and who don't see women mostly as a just a receptacle for a penis are fine.

White Stilton with those bloody awful dried cranberries studded in it. That reminds me of two other things - fruit in cheese and fruit in meat dishes.

Aren’t there machines for this nowadays ? They don’t require reciprocation or praise - you just wash them off and stick them back in the drawer until next time !!
