What is something that is popular but is also something that you detest. It can be anything.

Picky bits - can’t fucking stand that phrase
Blake Lively - no, do not and have never got the hype. Rich nepo baby D list actress.
Love Island - trash
Dog/cats being pushed around in prams- if it has working legs, it can walk
Protein products - UPF advertised to the masses as “health” food to make a huge profit. Just eat whole foods that are high in protein.

You?

OP posts:

That daft pouting on photos!
Minor cosmetic procedures like fillers
Spray tan where people look ridiculously dark skinned
The need to be “ Instagram Ready”

Free speech being used as an excuse to be hateful and divisive.

MsOvary · 01/07/2025 08:42

Censorship

People complaining about there being too many mixed couples on tv

Women who are so “beautified” they look like drag queens

fake nails

hair extensions

hyperfeminine look

celebrities

The Gallagher Brothers and their offspring, wives, girlfriends, exes and “mam”.

Deliveroo

Sainsbury’s - their food is godawful and boring. Limited choices.

Edited

Sainsbury’s medjool dates are the best, though.

Cynic17 · 01/07/2025 08:45

Christmas (at least, the modern commercial version)
Strictly
Reality TV
Disney
AI holidays
Drinking in an airport at 5am
All-female groups
Hen "dos"
Having a TV in the living room
Houses without books
"Immaculate" houses and obsessing about cleaning

So many things 🤣

Flamingfeline · 01/07/2025 08:45

You?

Everything you have said OP and add all other “reality tv”
Peoples obsessions with “celebrities” especially untalented nepo babies who are famous because of what family they were born into.
Smoking/Vaping
Chewing gum
Fake everything, nails, tan, boobs, lips, teeth, butts - I am all for making an effort, adding a bit of makeup, doing your hair to enhance your looks but it’s gone ridiculous with so much “body modification” especially when it’s so accessible to young impressionable people.
Christmas market, craft markets. Markets used to be a place you could go and get a bargin, now it’s just overpriced rubbish.
Bad parenting dressed up as “gentle parenting”. Bad parenting full stop, teaching children manners and to be mindful and respectful of others is just common decency and dosnt cost anything.
Social media obsession and filters, do people actually think we think they look like that? Seriously love I saw you 5 min ago on the school run you don’t! - I do like certain social media and think it definitely has a place in today’s society but can’t stand the fakeness put on display.
People who look down on others because they weren’t born into privilege.

DailArden · 01/07/2025 08:47

@Olivesforteatonighty My dog has her basket in the kitchen. What’s so bad about having your dog in the kitchen?

Dim people who do not understand that dogs cannot wipe their own arse. So no idea of hygiene.

CherryRipe1 · 01/07/2025 08:48

Fake grass. Just why?
Twats with trophy dogs
Assholes on Limebikes & e-scooters on pavements.
Huge fake nails. How do they wipe their arses?
Love Island
X factor
Extensions where you can clearly see the joins
Massive eyelashes and eyebrows
Dubai chocolate
Loads of bluey black tattoos, looks like Stilton.
Baby gender reveal parties

Flamingfeline · 01/07/2025 08:50

Saying “well deserved “ about your own glass of wine, holiday etc.

Trigger warnings/TW/Don't say that, it triggers me.

AKA I don't like what you're saying but can't be arsed organising an argument .

On MN, total infantilising wank.

Flatbellyfella · 01/07/2025 08:58

Dirty fries
Street food
hand crafted burgers 🙄

So called "celebrities", and anything about them.

So called "influencers". OMG

The news. Mostly about the above "celebrities" with "influencer" stuff thrown in.

The so called "real news" on the main channels. All are biased one way or the other, they tell us what we "should" think, and often frighten the lives out of us, and depress many.

manicpixieschemegirl · 01/07/2025 09:02

Tattoos

New build houses

I'm not annoyed by tattoos I just think they are almost all quite bad drawings. I wouldn't put that on my wall so I can't see why I'd ink it into my body.

People love them so much and show them to you - what can you say? This tasteless doodle is depressing and shite? No. I just nod and smile and change the subject.

...But it's not WRONG to have them! (I hasten to add having seen the weirdness upthread. I just think they are ugly, not immoral.)

Edited

Yes! Then when they fade and the ink goes all green looking, like on someone thats had them for years, ugh. Just no.

CoffeeCantata · 01/07/2025 09:11

Thai food (the smell of ginger, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves and coconut makes me nauseous)
Over-visited tourist destinations: thank God the locals are finally rebelling.
Texting/WhatsApp
Eating out in large groups - what's the point? I've started saying no to groups larger than 6. You don't get to speak to more than 4 people and (as a non-drinking veggie) I often find my modest meal, coming in at under £20, has somehow cost me nearly £60 due to spltting the bill and subsidising steak eaters and wine drinkers! With smaller, more intimate groups, it's easier to say - I'll just pay for my own, thanks, and put in for the tip.
People who want to show me their buttocks. This includes women wearing horrible short, short shorts and skirts and men whose trousers reveal their crack. I don't want to look at, be close to, or think about anyone else's backside.
Tattoos: please don't moan if you later have regrets, or expect anyone else to fund their removal In fact - start a savings account immediately for that day when you suddenly ask 'What was I thinking?'. Why not get a temporary one? Imagine deciding to wear the same top or trousers, for eg, for the rest of your life? Bonkers.

MermaidMummy06 · 01/07/2025 09:12

MAFS. I'm Australian and don't get the obsession. It's so fake & nasty.

Influencers, (and more so those who think they actually use the products they spruik...)

Fire pits in suburbia.

Smoking

Labubu dolls

Dressing with all the bits hanging out. (I don't care so much as don't want to see your bum).

Cupcakes with a ton of gloopy icing on top
Bumpy or raised nail art
ketchup etc slathered over a meal
Sauce or gravy poured over something that’s meant to be crispy eg puff pastry

The cupcake thing is mine too. In general, the trend for cakes/cookies loaded with chocolate bars etc. Or those cookie/brownie things either seventy four layers.

I love baking, but I’m a very traditional baker. I can’t wrap my head around chocolate on icing on cake with chocolate filling. 🤯

spoonbillstretford · 01/07/2025 09:14

Jeremy Clarkson, can't stand him in any way shape or form.
