Why do large companies still use Evri?

I am so fed up of parcels either never arriving, or arriving weeks later.
I am now totally unable to buy from companies whose products I use and need (such as Next and M&S) because they give no alternative other than Evri.

I ordered shoes for my daughter weeks ago from Next. They were marked as delivered after ages, but hadn’t been so I got a refund and bought her some others. Then 2 weeks later, the shoes arrived out of the blue and I’ve had several emails now saying they’re going to charge me. If I return them, it will be through Evri who won’t turn up, OR will cost me loads as they are heavy.

That’s just one example but nothing ever just gets delivered with Evri for me. I really don’t think I’m alone in this….so WHY oh why do these companies keep using them!? They must be losing so much business.

Evri is good with us, always on time, totally reliable

Michele09 · 30/06/2025 10:20

I agree totally. I wish there was the option to choose the delivery company when ordering. Evri would get no business.

SJM1988 · 30/06/2025 10:20

Evri is fine for us too - if anything the most reliable.
Yodel is the company that keeps losing or returning to sender without attempting delivery for me. I actively avoid Yodel.

Never had a problem with Evri. The delivery driver has worked for them for ages, when it was Hermes as well.

BeAmpleBird · 30/06/2025 10:37

Because Evri is cheap and has wide delivery coverage.

It would from me. Royal Mail just pretend to attempt to deliver then keep everything at the sorting office where you can collect in a two hour window on a Saturday in the middle of an industrial estate where there are two parking and three hundred people collecting a parcel.

Evri is actually the most reliable for us out of all the delivery companies. And our delivery driver is super helpful.

IfYouPutASausageInItItsNotAViennetta · 30/06/2025 10:41

Yep, no problems here either. It's always the same delivery man and he's prompt, very careful and extremely friendly.

Maybe they contract a lot of it out, and people in some areas are much more competent and diligent than others?

CozyCoupe · 30/06/2025 10:41

Evri is by far the most reliable here, I always choose them as my preferred option.

Royal Mail on the other hand....don't get me started!

Helpmeplease2025 · 30/06/2025 10:42

Evri is totally fine and has been for a long time, for us.

I won’t use John Lewis as they insist on using Royal Mail, who don’t give accurate timeslots, won’t leave parcels and you have to wait ages to collect it, with the local parcel office now only open two hours a day.

DongDingBell · 30/06/2025 10:45

Evri is better than RM for us. I think it's very driver dependant.

Jaspi · 30/06/2025 10:45

I always wonder this, ive had so many go lost or delayed it’s ridiculous, I’ve managed to get some of my subscriptions moved over to a different carrier, my toilet roll being one, as I think they were sick, as was I of my parcels getting ”lost” by evri and my frequent emails of please can you ship it with literally anyone else to me, I will pay type thing.

helpfulperson · 30/06/2025 10:49

All companies have problems. EVRI are no worse than others

Doingnothingtoday · 30/06/2025 10:49

The efficiency of Evri is very dependant on the delivery person. Mine is excellent at the moment but this hasn’t always been the case.

When I rule the world, I plan to change the law so that companies have to state which company they use before you commit to the purchase.

I always opt for RM if I can - the service around here is excellent.

londongirl12 · 30/06/2025 10:53

Our Evri delivery driver is great! Never had an issue.

Badbadbunny · 30/06/2025 10:57

For us, Evri is more reliable than Royal Mail who are frankly useless these days. I can't remember the last time an Evri parcel (sent or received) got lost. But last week alone, 3 different items of post, a letter and two parcels were lost by Royal Mail, all 3 should have had proof of delivery, but none did. That's on top of Royal Mail posties "signing" for tracked and signed for items that they just pop through the letterbox, fraudulently "signing" the recipient name - I know because I've received numerous "signed for" and "tracked with signature" items that I know I've not signed for as I've literally seen them pushed through the letterbox, but when I check the RM tracking website, they've been signed for in my name!

Badbadbunny · 30/06/2025 10:58

Evri also have far better options for drop off and pick up - usually local garages/shops that don't have stupidly restrictive opening hours like post offices and sorting offices, where you can drop off/pick up a parcel at 6pm in the evening or, heaven forbid, a Sunday!

AnneShirleysNewDress · 30/06/2025 10:59

Evri is excellent in my area too but Yodel are a nightmare.

Ridley4 · 30/06/2025 11:01

I wish they’d all just go back to using Royal Mail. We have a fabulous service from them every time.

WellErrr · 30/06/2025 11:03

Well I have to say, this is very surprising! Possibly my county is just badly off for Evri drivers.

The one at my last house down south was wonderful, you could set your clock by him. But since moving, they just do not deliver. Everyone says the same.

Royal Mail were also good in my old area, but here we seem to get no post for days, then a stack of it. Suggesting to me that they’re just not bothering to deliver on the other days.

Your issue is a local one rather than an Evri one I suspect. I use Evri for absolutely everything now if there's a choice. We have an excellent delivery driver - same one every time and always on time. Otherwise our PO is a local Evri pickup/drop-off point and a whole lot cheaper than Royal Mail. Shame it's not working for you but Evri scores 10/10 for me - never had a single problem in thousands of transactions (I used to run a business and now am a Vinted addict!)

Themagicfarawaytreeismyfav · 30/06/2025 11:10

Our Evri driver is fantastic!

Badbadbunny · 30/06/2025 11:12

I tend to try to avoid firms who use RM as their couriers. My first choice is Amazon these days because their deliveries are usually excellent in terms of promised delivery dates and the ability to track your delivery. If I can't get something from Amazon, I'm more drawn to online retailers who say they use Evri, or offer a choice. I've gone back to Ebay recently as their "default" simple delivery option is now Evri rather than Royal Mail.

Lighteningstrikes · 30/06/2025 11:26

They’re rubbish where I live. Either late or don’t turn up at all.

I think it depends where you live though.
